Okay.. so I have always liked the Clancy Bees and then Stevens Aero came out with the Mud Bug (got one, love it), I saw the Mud Ducks.. great looking planes but I just haven't got to one yet.. then I saw Henri Mignet's Pou-du-Ciel (Flying Flea). Awesome looking plane, almost a bi-plane but not quite. The upper wing takes the place of the moving surface for the elevator, awesome concept and looks even more interesting in the air. Well, the smart guys at Stevens designed a Flea powered by micro gear. Who could pass that one up? Mine came on Saturday, I was short on time yesterday (Sunday for those keeping track of time) and had some time today (in between calls from my boss). She is all done, the covering isn't good but she looks great in the air... I have taken pics along the way and can post more later.

I thought that I would start to add my Clancy hangar to my blog. Here's the beginning:

Speedy Bees pictured - I have two ARFs, both are the 52" wing and one is in the original box, the other is just in a box and I also have one kit.

Coming next - Big Bee (two of them too, one built and one kit), Lazy Bee (two with standard wings and one with ailerons), a Baby Bee (or Lady Bug), Yard Bee, Stagger Bee kit, a Turbo Bee kit, two Micro Bees (Little Plane That Could) and two Sky Baby kits... I think that covers all of the planes that Mr. Clancy made available. I don't know if the Ascender really counts since I have not seen one in wood, just in foam.

NIB 109 that I am building...

Here are 4 documents that contain the build manual for the Clancy Lazy Bee.. I can't remember the kind fella that allowed me to use them but it is certainly appreciated...

I wanted to put this on here for everyone at once to say why I haven't answered my messages... I am the proud daddy Annalee Grace, finally born yesterday... 8 lbs 1 oz, 21 inches. All parties are doing well and we are feeling very blessed.

I lost my first Swift due to some very strong wind and finally got around to building another..

Maiden was on a rather quiet, windless Friday evening. First launch was decent but not fast enough and I had to make an emergency landing into the snow. Second launch was better. It was the over-hand push type, no power until is was about 20 feet away. Hit throttle for a few seconds and pulled her up.... and she was away. Flew great with just a few clicks of up and left... Looks great in the air. Loops, rolls, low speed passes and vertical until just a dot in the sky.. WAHOOOO!!! Battery only took 433mahs to full charge and I had a blast..

Second battery was this morning (Saturday).. very windy but I just couldn't resist. Gusts to 26 mph. I waited for a lull before I tried to put it in the air, I can't get over how well this wing handles the wind. A total blast to fly whether there was steady wind or heavy gusts... I am thinking about heading to the LHS for another one, just to try out another setup...
