Freewing Zeus painted up like the BVM Bandit paint scheme

I always wanted a BVM Bandit but knew I’d never be able to afford one, so the Zeus was the perfect model to partially create a faux Bandit. I call it the Z-Bandit. Just need to clear coat the parts and wait for Callie graphics to arrive....Continue Reading

I love anything delta and bashing Freewing kits. It’s crazy how easy it was that the F-22 wings fit to the F-15 fuselage with little mods to either the wings or the fuselage. Had to add a new spar hole and trim the wing tabs. I’ll have to reroute wires a little bit, but other than that it was fairly easy....Continue Reading

I’ve always liked the looks of the Bob Kress Tommycat, so I’m using Freewing F-14 parts to do a knockoff version of it using an HSD 105mm edf on 12S.

I liked the Freewing F-5 jet, but it was to small for my aging eyes so I decided to convert it to have delta wings.

I found three awesome delta planes at an estate sale this weekend. Two Balsa USA Force One’s and a Delta Vortex. I love delta airplanes.

Painted my backup Freewing Avanti S to be a somewhat fluorescent green color.

I had an issue with my Freewing 70mm F-16 jet. The nose retract stopped working and I had to land without the nose gear. I think the retracts on this jet are cheaper than some of the other jets from Freewing. I replaced mine with the Freewing F-5 nose retract that I already had. It dropped right in, but the strut was a little longer so I cut out some of the foam.

This is the Avanti’s 300th flight with only one minor crash during a crosswind landing.

I liked the looks of the new Eflite Havoc, but heard about all the issues with it having unexplained crashes, so I decided to just get the fuselage parts and kit bash it. I’m a huge fan of delta planes and have created and flown several prop delta planes but never an edf one. So was the creation of the Delta Havoc. It's got all the guts of a Freewing 80mm Avanti (edf, esc, retracts, etc) and it's got Hitec servos. It's been to windy here lately, so still waiting to do the maiden....Continue Reading

I converted my Freewing F-16 70mm to an 80mm FW F-16. I wanted more power out of this great flying jet, and tried to upgrade to an XRP 70mm 14-blade edf, that ended bad on the take-off run. Something caused it to FOD out spitting out all the blades out the back. I had an extra FW 80mm edf from an Avanti and so I decided to try this option. Everything fits back together nicely after some carving and sanding and it only gained a couple ounces. I just had to move the lipo forward a little bit and she balanced out better than I thought it would. The re-maiden went really well seen in the video below. It’s not as fast as the Avanti, but 2 to 3 times better than the 70mm stock setup. It’s exactly the performance I was looking for, so I’m very happy with the new Freewing 80mm upgrade.

I got a couple A-10 Warthog sorties in this past weekend before it got cold again. What a great flying A-10.

My son's first flight with his Apprentice S 15e RTF with SAFE Technology. He's been practicing on my RealFlight simulator and can stay in the air using just rudder and elevator and throttle management on the Hobbico NexStar EP plane on RF, but hasn't learned to land yet or maintain a constant flight routine in the pattern, but he has fun and I don't want to discourage him. The Apprentice has three settings for training on. The first setting is for his experience in that it doesn't allow wild movements with stick movement and maintains a nice stable level flight. The SAFE system doesn't allow for much rudder movement, so I told him to use the aileron stick like he was using the rudder stick and it worked out great. The SAFE system automatically gives elevator input when the ailerons are used and my son was able to make nice slow turns with the ailerons. I really like the SAFE system to start him off on, because it allows me to relax while he flies and he becomes more relaxed in flying a real plane instead of a simulator. He likes to do loops and rolls and the SAFE system doesn't allow this on the first two settings so I take the plane up several mistake high and let him go to town on loops and rolls. When my nerves have had enough I can flip the switch back to one and he can fly on his own and I can calm my nerves.

The maiden of my 3DHS 70" Slick went great. The only issue is the Hacker motor was squealing at low throttle. I need to change the settings on the Castle ICE 100 and that should get rid of the squeal. The Hacker A60-6XS is a very strong motor on 6S and pulls the Slick around with incredible authority.

It was a beautiful day and the sun was going down. Just enough time to get a quick launch in of my son's first rocket, an Estes Maxi Alpha III rocket firing a D motor.

Got a GoPro Hero for a good price so this is my first attempt at using it as a head cam. Didn't realize the memory card was almost full so it cuts out in the middle of the flight.

I bought this E-flite Deuces Wild 25e2 ARF on ebay about a year ago. It was sold by Hobb-e-mart, an online store that sells damaged and returned items from Horizon Hobby.
