I have an unfinished Focke Wulfe 1990 D-9 by PICA. Don't know what to do with it nor do I know what to sell it for. 65" wingspan, 730" area - for 4 to 6 channel radios and .60 engines. Choose from 3 versions (stated on box). Kit RC - 3 1st place winner at US National Champs. Parts made: wings, and fuselage. Any suggestions? Throw out, sell, put back in the rafters?

Well, she flew just fine......until I hit a dirt clod on the runway and sheared the blades off both fans......I knew the fan intakes were low, but I thought I had enough clearance....Oh well, I'll go back to putting the fans higher on the airframes....live and learn

5 miles went down like a brick. The webbing kept the tire from sliding 1 way, but the adhesive did nothing to keep it from sliding the other way. The result was part of it sliding away & part staying in place. That rules out farstening at any single point. Too bad TPU can't stretch like rubber.

Been putting off upgrading the camera controller because it's so rarely used, but it definitely needs an amplifier.

I've written a basic guide on the cheapest brushless setup that I'd recommend for the 144001. I've been beating on this car for a few weeks now and can say that the setup is robust on 2s. Advantages over stock are:
  • 60 km/h top speed
  • much faster acceleration
  • Double battery life (about 15 minutes vs 6-8 stock)
  • Much more durable due to less weight in a crash
  • Bettery for jumping and cornering due to better weight distribution

Here is the article:

I spent a few days w B at the farm.
The weather was great and we flew a lot.
There was some carnage however & some fails .
We got a few wins snuck in there though.
We flew a couple deltas as the third was under powered.
My dark jeti suffered a lil setback, back to the drawing board, I think a 12 blade 6s will do it.
I chased AR's planes around w the new Dji fpv drone ,man that was fun, and I even let b take a spin in it.
Finished it off with,(of course) w the dirt flirt and a soul crushing hangover.
The drinks started after the flying of course. We are dangerous enough sober.
I will post more vids here as i can ,there is a ton of vid .Im sure ar will be posting plenty as well .
happy flying guys

ESC - Configurator, a utility designed to simplify updating and configuring of your ESCs.

ESC-Configurator: BlueJay Firmware Troubleshooting & Music 🎵 (Mobula 6 Setup) (16 min 8 sec)

Bluejay is BLHeli_S based firmware capable of bi-directional DShot - so a great choice if you want to run RPM filtering on your rig. This project also aims to clean up and simplify the original BLHeli_S source code. A startup sound editor is also part of the deal.

I flash it to my Mobula 6, some problems and issues occur -- 1 motor stops spinning after the flash of the firmware.

The technical troubleshooting is all left in. Full chapterization.

So this is a pike perfection that came to me with a shattered tip.The repair was done several months ago,but some have said I should post some photos of the repair process I use. I've compressed this down because there are 83 photos during this repair but these will show the main process. ** There are many ways to repair hollow molded wings everyone has a preferred method this is just mine. The wing remains hollow, and I get good results without using body fillers or foam internal fillers. and In the end the repair is as close to the original in layup and materials as I can get.***
Here goes! ...tap view all images....Continue Reading

As these things tend to do, the stakes have been raised to get a reasonable combination of traction & range. There was a partial hexogrid tire which proved too soft for the cost.

Because it takes so much more material to make a flat tread stiff enough, the decision was made to go back to a PETG hub with a thin TPU tire. This would limit the compression if the tire completely compressed. Helas, PETG is noticeably heavier than PLA, despite its heat resistance. It could probably get away with PLA since the motors rarely get flaming hot. The biggest weight savings may be abandoning the hexogrid. Like the SpaceX logo & the isogrid, sometimes you just want it to look good.

The lion kingdom has evolved its 3D printing game to the point of making the thinnest possible lines & planes with the thickest possible layers. The .4mm nozzle can print a .5mm wide line but takes forever. The .8mm nozzle can print a .9mm wide line but is much faster.

Since the tires slip around the hub, there's still a dream of bolting the tires to the motors, but they now have to transfer force a lot farther across a much bigger hub. A 7 hour tire with webbing had good compliance, transferred rotation to the motor, but easily slipped sideways. It would need some kind of adhesive, whether it bolted to the motor, if the hub clamped it as before, or if it clamped around the hub. It might as well be a plain cylinder.
