I see the site still is having problems ,
Just don't have the patience/ time to keep re inputting my log on/password to try and post or search or whatever
Like others I will take a step back from RCG and spend my time building while waiting for the wind to turn to the NW and start to rip .
I hope RCG gets things sorted out soon.

The summer has past with no good flyable winds that I could get out in since the beginning of June when we had a plus 25 mph afternoon .

I just got out the Wednesday before Thanksgiving in what turned out to be a epic Day that started with consistent 20 mph ,gusting to 30 but built to consistent 40 gusting over 50
Measure with a Hall Wind Meter as recommended by Slopemaster.
When the wind increased above 30,and the gusts were rocking us back on our heels my friend said "I would like to know how hard the wind is blowing now "
I told him the wind meter is in my bag , pull it out He did and that is when we were reading 40 and above .
Its really seductive flying the heavier stuff in big air

I made it out today after work to try some light wind slermaling on our hill.
The forecast was for a max of 10 mph north dropping off to under 9 after 4:30.
I used my 2M Great Planes Spirit to check out the possibilities ,as I have not tried to fly in north wind at this marginal wind speed .
The first hour was good flying alternating between ranging out and thermaling with the active air and running back to the hill and sloping the face .
On Que the wind speed dropped ,I started to notice the bugs coming out of hiding then the wind shifted across the hill to from the north east all the lift vanished.
Time to pick up and go.
A great way to end the work day -

Finally the proper direction wind returned today {NW} with 18 to 20 called for and gust's to 40 ... And 75 degrees temperature
I dont even remember what its like to fly without gloves on

I flew my Leg ODR -26oz
G.E.M.S Knife Edge -26 oz
My 48" Dan Wing {repaired from a hard landing in Cleveland last month} 32 oz

And took another shot at re maidening My 48" Dan Wing - Brat
It took another 6 oz of lead to the nose to balance bringing it to a 35.4 oz.
All the planes flew well in the conditions {gusty with big thermals rolling through} ,but once balanced the Brat at 35 + oz was a rocket in the lift with Huge pumps and strafing runs close to the top.
What a Blast !
Summer is finally here

I got out for some "spring flying" on our hill after work today, 37 degrees 18 mph wind and snow...Yup I Love New York

Had one to maiden, cant say it went well.
Acted very tail heavy added a bunch of nose weight, barely flying ,conditions were not fun and tired after a full work day...I will get back to it

Then I put The Knife Edge up
This Plane just kicks Butt !
spent the next hour or so ripping with it,gusts that rocked me on my heels ,crossed and bumpy ,sink, snow ,grovel you name it the KE just does it .

Flying it in close on the top of the hill and standing it on a wing tip , pulling elevator to do a paper clip turn ,it seems to accelerate thru the turn like it was shot out of a canon,I think it is the flex in the wing loading up and then unloading like a slalom ski.....
Great way to end the day

The song "Ready for the storm" resonates with me.
For the past 2 weeks the north east has seen winter storms called "Nor'easter" blast our region ,as it turns out when these happen The hill that I fly on gets favorable wind, sometimes with heavy snow sometimes with out.

So as the the rest of the east coast "battens down the hatches" fills up on gas/food and other necessities i find myself charging battery's and getting my winter slope gear loaded in my van for a outing .

Life has its seasons and winter often has me longing for the warm breezes of summer, but I have found even in the midst of a winter storm I can soar.

Got out again with my sloping buddies.
The day started in the 60"s but was in the low 40's by late afternoon when we made it to the hill 12 to 15 mph.
Flights with the Sizzle, Ka-8, Sally, Ez glider and Zagi
A good Time was had by all !

The weather was forecast for NNW again so I loaded up the Swift and the Sizzle to be ready after work .
End of the work day arrived and they were calling for 18 to 19 mph and mid thirties temp and we had sunshine again {a gift at this time of year }

I put the Swift up and was trying to shoot move video with the I phone Head cam but the wind blew it off my head and ended that thought.

I flew for around 45 minutes in less than perfect conditions, gusty and often crossed ,the local news said the gusts were around 24 mph but it felt much higher rocking me back on my heels more than a few times.

I only had one pair of gloves on and would have liked too land earlier {my hands were starting to hurt pretty good } finally got a pop up that I could work with and set her down about 15 feet away, had to run to get to it while holding full down to keep her on the ground {and I don't run too fast any more}

The Sizzle got to sit this one out ,pilot was out of gas
