Our RC club (Skyhawks-Tri State Model Flyers) holds a mall show each year to show people what we do and attract some new members. Here's footage from this year's mall show on Feb 16-17.

I had been wanting a transmitter glove for a while so I could do some RC stuff in the winter. Well I finally obtained one here recently and even though I've only used it once, it has proven to be a great investment. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to do some RCing in the cold temperatures. The one I got was made by a company called SENREAL and can be purchased on Amazon for under $20. Here is a link to the product and my video review:

After getting some high praises from other folks and the Flitetest forums I decided to add the Flitetest Mini Scout to my list of Flitetest planes to check out. I would definitely rank it up there with one of the easier builds due to the limited number of pieces and not having to do any foldovers with the wing. Unlike the original design, I tweaked this one a little by making it a 4 channel and adding ailerons. There is not much involved in making this transition if you would want to do it. Just measure and mark out how big you want your aileron control surface to be and then glue in a control horn and servo.

Below is my introduction video to the plane as well as a short maiden flight video with a small crash. More flights to come in the future!

FT Mini Scout intro...another super easy build! (5 min 36 sec)

Actual maiden test run of the foamboard snow skimmer! One of those rare moments where we had just enough snow to try it out. Even managed to crash it as well, luckily damage was pretty minimal.

That's right! The old Hangar 9 Easy 2 balsa trainer is back...in pieces. Have plans to do some crash repairs to the plane as well as a new covering job. And once that is done, I'll be putting all the electronics back in. So, it's got a long road ahead of it. Here's the latest video on this project...

In my latest video I look back at 2018 and then look forward to 2019 with a different outlook. An outlook that is nothing new, but more of the traditional RC plane hobbyists view on how things go in our crazy world. Hoping for an awesome 2019 experience as well as many more years to come. And hope everyone out there has a great new year as well.

My take on a foamboard snow skimmer to use during the winter/snowy months. This is Part 1 of the build process and what I got so far. It is a flat bottomed boat design with 2 motors on the back to use for propulsion as well as direction. They will use differential thrust to control the steering. So no servos are needed! More videos to come on this project.

Here's an update to the glider project I've been working on where I tackle the wing. I even work out a way to split this huge wingspan up into 2 halves that can easily be transported in a small car.

Tackled yet another Flitetest build...this time, the FT Long EZ. A super cool looking plane that only uses a single sheet of foamboard. So aside from electronics cost, it only cost $1 to build the plane.

FT Long EZ intro... cool design and an easy $1 build! (4 min 41 sec)

Lost for approximately 8 months at our local RC field's "death valley", probably in the wooded area, the FT Super Bee has been found. Airframe is definitely seen better days. But how are the electronics after months of hot and cold temps, rain, snow, wind, etc. ?

The Dynam PA-18 Super "Piper" Cub was actually the first plane I got to start back into the RC plane hobby. I got it as a gift from my my wife. Unfortunately, it spent more time being a lawn dart than a flying airplane. Now granted some of that was my inexperience. I went on to have successful flying with the Hobbyzone Champ and other airplanes.

I have now decided to dust the plane off and try to bring it back to life. And I have already been making modifications to it since parts are extremely hard to come by. Some of the modifications are even from my experiences with working with foamboard and Flitetest planes. Join me on this small journey to bring this plane back to life!

Been wanting to add a nice somewhat large glider to my airplane arsenal. Something for those lazy/relaxing days. Found some plans for a Flitetest style glider (called Galaxy) through the Flitetest community pages. Currently have the fuselage and tail section built. Next big step is the wing which I am actually going to make as a 2 piece wing with a split in the middle so I can take it apart for transporting. The original design was a full single piece wing that used 3 sheets of foamboard.

Here is a video on the start of this journey in constructing this big glider.

And here is the original Flitetest article on the glider:

This is some old footage of when our furnace went out in our house at the beginning of 2018 with outside temps reaching the single digits at times. The house was without heat for a good few weeks . This was all during the time when our daughter was in NICU for a while and that was more of a priority to us than dealing with the house. We were bouncing between my mother's house and mother-in-law's house at the time. From what I observed, our house did reach a low of 32 degrees although it's possible it could've gotten lower than that since I wasn't there all the time.

When the guys came to install the furnace I decided to just see how my lipos were doing. I knew the cold probably wouldn't hurt em, but I was still curious to see how they were holding up especially since they haven't been checked for a while.

How well do Lipos survive a cold house? (5 min 45 sec)

Decided to tackle the FT Simple Cub as my next Flitetest build. I was looking for a simple 3 channel Flitetest design to help with training new folks on RC planes and the FT Simple Cub seemed like a good fit. In the video I share my experiences with the build process.

Footage of my FT Super Bee (2nd flight) where I ended up losing orientation and sight of the plane somewhere over our RC Airfield's "death valley". Even footage of my trek down into death valley to look for it with no success.
