I am currently assembling a Reichard kakadu, that I have had for a while. I am not an experienced builder , I have built a couple of planes from plans, and a number of RTFs . I am however struggling a bit with the elevator assembly on my kakadu.

I cannot seem to get the elevator bowden cable to align well enough with the control horn I want to put on the elevator. The angle seems all wrong. I have put the cable inside a sleeve to reduce latency, and I wonder if this may be the problem.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Well, its now 2016-09-17 over 3 years since my last blog entry. Don't normally hold with all this blogging stuff , I feel in a mood to talk to myself. Sort of self reflective but not in a bright yellowy-jacket sort of way. Flying my gorgeous seagull Edge with a SC91 4-stoke. I have had so much pleasure this year with it. Might go for my B test but still not got spins and tight figure-of-8s good enough... Been trying to perfect cross wind landings, the wind has been perpendicular to the patch and not broken it yet. Talked to Tony S who felt actually it was close to un-flyable so felt better that I managed to land without too much damage...

.. been a while , not flown much for the last 6 months due to the weather and the main flying patch being tramples by cows... its a long story ....

Any seeing as haven't flown for so long a bit of trepidation but needn't have worried. The parkzone mk9 is a joy to fly, take off and land. need a bit of practise for th erolls though...

Anyway here's some photos including Andys śrricane...

Maidened September -ish

Boy is this fun. Not had so much fun flying since Renegade in may. This is really amazing plane. It has an u/c unusual in foamies in that it is sufficient to take a few hard knocks. (The Mx2 on the other hand is always having to be repaired.)

Got it on slow and fast rates, gonna try a snap roll soon....

Really recommend this plane to everyone...

.. Have had a few teething problems with the engine fit, but now over that now. Here are some photos of taxi test and engine test with cowl on .....

Cowl not a neat as I would have liked but okish.

Such a nice looking plane, hopefully I can do justice to it. Hope to put smoke in it once used to flying envelop....

More on thread here of engine fit if interested

24/7/2012 Maidened

Many thanks to Tony S for taking her up. Way too much weight in the back. Started off with 220 gm, took 60 out. Probably will take another 60 out as well. Before flight CofG did seem about right 130 from LE though.. Lots of growling about how to start engine, upside down, right way up, open the throttle don't open the throttle...etc. Still successful outcome, back in one piece..

Some not particularly brilliant photos......

26/7/2012 BI2
Broke in two....can rebuild but do not have the time. When do will put electric power in as TT61 just too heavy for the plane (and my piloting).......Continue Reading

.. well no problems there. Took off rolled immediately went inverted, knife edge etc. I wish I could say a chip of the old block but I am asking him for advice !

Had a little hicup in that the third flight decided to land ..... inverted ..but just a slight mend to the tail required..

Thomas ST MX2 maiden flight (1 min 18 sec)

.. this is a replacement for the sad demise of the the Jitterbug. Currently put a Thunder tiger pro 46 in it with a 13 x6 wooden prop. Engine tests indicate a bit too much for the TT46. Will substitute with a 11 x5 or 6. Don't know if sufficient torque for knife edge etc.....

Now trying a 11x6 but think TT46 pro is overheating so about to cut out more of cowling ...

13/4/12 Maiden

Still problems with undercarriage and engine. Tony S took it up

Really good couple of flights , comes in a bit fast managed to catch undercarriage on fence though should be an easy mend.

22/5/12 RIP 1

Had some absolutely stonking flights over the last few days , had 6 this morning best day of the year so far, ....only trying to fly inverted and got in pickle and you know the rest ...... New one ordered ... Does anyone know the number of RC Planes Anonymous ?

29/5/12 RIP 2

So new one arrives thursday built by saturday, and maidened. Really pleased with it. Tuesday in field on own, have flown about 5 flights with it. Elevetor seems a little slow on pre-flight checks , but still works. So 2/3 into flight complete elevator failure. Cratered ouch. I had reused the servos from the first, perhaps a bit stoopid on hintsight, but dunno ....

Might be able to rebuild one from the two wrecks, but a little tiresome. BTW It was a complete failure of the elevator servo....

... a bit too foggy .. so tempting... .... but resisted the bad voices .......

21/3/12 Maiden

Tony S kindly took it up after some knee wobbling from other quarters did some triming, Also thanks to Andy for the weights to adjust the C of G

Then my turn .. what excellant fun. Goes like the clappers though still need more battery power for into wind. Currently using Pontious 3S probably need 4S..

Then had a little mishap need some epoxy help.... nothing too drastic though .....

Excellant flight from start to finish. Really cool jet. Many thanks to Terry H for trimming it for me......Continue Reading

.. actually goes like the clappers. Quite a stong wind but started to manage it quite well..... Little bit shakey to start with pretty good fun ....

2/4/2012 Thomas takes off and lands

Thomas several times getting really comfortable flying.. Andy lets him fly his ST MX2 .. and then all three of us fly the thunder tiger inverted , some of us with more luck then others... alright I was rubbish... then it it dead sticks into a barbed wire fence .... Doh

13/4/2012 Thomas takes does easy star touch and goes

Now confidently flying and doing very low level flypasses. Proud Dad. Only trouble is he is rapidly becoming better then me.....! more

21/7/12 what a great reliable plane

Just want to say that when everything else has fallen to earth, refused to start, not been finished yet etc. The easy Start is always there ( with the exception of one burned out motor but that was because of doing extended loops and rolls on a calm day). Absolutely Brilliant...

.. securedthe Jitterbug engine with bolts as self taps nearly all came out.. a bit scary..

Had 3 flights today beautiful day no one at charmy, engine servo keeps occillating a bit of a worry so had to finish earlier. Still getting used to low wing characteristics.. tend to stall on turns a bit more though rudder much more responsive. landings getting better though..

8/3/12 Obituary .......MIA

Gone down to the left of the flying field in dense woodland with bramble bushes. many thanks to all the club members that have had a look. Bit gutted but am moving on ..... lost all the gear as well .....

11/3/12 MIA -> wood pile

Many thanks to tha chap that recoved the plane. Its in a few more pieces then it took off in but still at least I got the bits back....

..A bit windy as well - gusts 25-30 mph. A big thanks to the Calmato 40 high wing, just keeps on going .... Also Thunder Tiger 46... really reliable engine highly recommend them both..!

Well sad times - a plane obituary -- the calmarto bit the dust the other weekend so thought would put start and end photos. Might do this for all planes ....

Timeline is 8/1/2011 to 19/11/11 - felt quite attached as rebuild the minor damage a number of times. This time a bit more permanent. However stipped down and parts added to Thunder tiger trainer which is Thomas's plane. and the new Jitterbug/Firebug build ...

Thunder Tiger
Thunder Tiger trainer went up today again. Last weekend first flight, idle speed too high. Went back and adjusted the servo arm throw too much. Spent about 4 hours with the Irvine 40 trying to get it to start - did eventaully, but lots of niggles only allowed 1 shaky flight. Have sorted them all out now hopfully. Did seem to leak fuel from the cylinder have reseated head with help from Tony S. Fingers crossed for tommorrow.... BTW Thomas did an excellent mend on the wing last week...

Still current problems with the Irvine 40 ... Fuel poring out of the cynlinder block. Don't know if will can get it mended or not ....

Thomas birthday and finished Jitterbug/Firebug last night. Wait for the weather to improve. Control surfaces seem quite snappy but not sure if C of G is too far forward ....

Maidened today. heavy landing as still not used to flying it in .... but really pleased
