Sooo, I've been away from flying for about two years now and just returned to this hobby/pastime/obsession a few weeks ago.

When I'm away from flying for awhile I'll usually get the realflite sim out for some practice before I head out with a plane. Unfortunately, I lost the sim when my last computer crashed, so I had no choice but to just go for it and fly. I charged a battery, took the eflite Ascent down to the field and it was just as they say, like riding a bike again. I flew up a couple hundred feet a few times, floated around a while and made several decent landings without any problems...

The weather has been pretty good and I've been out flying almost every day I can. I managed to get the Extra 260 out two days ago and was able to really shake off some cobwebs. It'll be nerve-wracking each time I take another plane out of the hangar for it's turn, but I'm looking forward to those adrenaline rushes all over again.

This New Year is looking like it's going to be a good one as I've been lucky to find a fuselage (or two) for the Aquila I'm going to resurrect, and have already bought a few other planes and some more gear. I thought I'd honestly make an effort this time around to try and finish every plane project I start and not pile on more new projects, but already that resolution doesn't look like it's going to happen...

Meantime, I'm looking forward to posting photos here of the work I have to do, and hopefully some videos now that I'm flying again.

Guess I could get started by getting this Super V project out of the kitchen and back into the shop...

Have a Happy New Year

Sooo, I've been away from flying for about two years now and have just returned to my hobby/pastime/obsession a few weeks ago.

I didn't have a chance to do any warm up with my realflight sim (computer it was installed on bit it) and I decided I was just going to go for it and just go fly. I charged a 1250 3s, took the Ascent (e/p sailplane) down to the field and it was just as the saying goes, like riding a bicycle again. I powered up to a few hundred feet several times, floated around a while and made several decent landings without any problems...

The weather has been pretty good here lately and I've since flown several times now and even took the Eflite Extra 260 out two days ago and really shook off some the cobwebs. I'll be nervous every time I bring another plane out of the hangar for it's turn in the daylight, but I'm looking forward to getting them all back in order and flying again.

Also, with this New Year there will be new planes. I've been lucky to find a fuselage (or two) for the Aquila I'm going to resurrect, and have bought a plane or two and some more gear. I'm going to honestly make an effort this time around to try and finish every plane project I start and not pile on more new plane projects. This resolution will likely last until next year (or longer) if I manage to stick to it. Something tells me this is going to be harder than when I quit cigarettes and harder yet than when I gave up beer...

Meantime I will be posting photos here of the work I have to do, and hopefully some videos now that my flying days have returned. I'm looking forward to it... Guess I could get started on this Super V and get it out of my kitchen and back into the shop...
