Had some fun tonight with my good flying buddy Jeff B. Flew my extra 300 in the 50 km/h gusting winds and Jeff flew his Stryker! He wanted to fly his Cessna 206T, but the radio quit on him… So we had a little fun with it!

Bought an airframe only version by Freewing/Hobby-Lobby from Graves hobbies. Got a 64 mm all aircraft aluminum grade EDF unit by EPF hobbies from HK. Seven medal gear HK servos, one 70 amp redbrick ESC and a 3 amp ubec all powered by a 4s 3000 mah turnigy battery. Love it!

Well, I know it was stupid, but I had to try it. Check out this vid of the second half of my second cross town flight. It was AWESOME! That being said, I don't recommend ANYONE to attempt this, it is highly dangerous and nerve racking. My plane escaped unscathed but had many near misses and close calls with trees and power lines. Enjoy the Video!!

Been a Looooong time since my last post... here's what's been going on;

1) Super Cub still flying, just got the floats for it a while back and I've yet to try 'em. (on water that is

2) Stryker bit the dust! I flew it to the edge of my vision and right thru some tall trees n' into the drink! Fried the ESC and the outer edges of the wings were trash. I got a new ESC and pioneered a slimmer stryker (trimmed 2" off each wing) but it became super twitchy on the elevator. Never bothered to move the CG by adding weight till the day I purposely flew it into the ground @ WOT. (this is after full throttling it into some nut trees and still it flew again) When it hit the dirt it was like a gun shot... surprisingly the electronics all survived One day I'll get a new one again.

3) Inlaws gave me cash for Christmas and I bought an MCX heli for myself.
What can I say, very durable and fun. Great for rainy days or camping in the trailer. Kids just love it too!

4) Bought a PZ Extra 300 pnp even after reading all the neg. stuff on the thread. What a handfull to start with!! Good thing I Could prog. some (a LOT) of Expo in and flaperons, still hard to land slow enough for my 'runway'.
Finally left the wheels off after they came off for the 3rd time and much easier to land, though still not easy. Now it kinda looks like a hurricane only bright orange! Man, the power of the BL .15!

5) Built a bomb bay door on my Trusty PZ T-28. What Fun!! I recommend...Continue Reading

So, a while back I got the Stryker 27c and I was in need of a high kv motor, so the cub lost it and got instead my stock t-28 480bl and a new cowl. looks better but flies heavier (of course!) Not to worry though, cause I finally got a Turnigy 9x tx/rx and prog. flaperons in, then ordered some hxt 900's n' made proper flaps. Now she feels good! (Expo don't hurt none either ;P) I totally recommend modding the Cub this way. Flaps take a bit to get used to though, so practise A LOT 3 mistakes high!

Well, I've been missing my Mini-Super Cub (my first plane which I sold after 100 crashes for $75!) So I bought the full-size 'LP' ver. a couple weeks back and Love it! What a great flying Hi-wing.
I was not so sure at first, what with 27 Mhz radio, brushed motor and no ailerons, it felt like a step back after getting the T-28. But with no other affordable RTF Hi-wing @ my LHS I figured I'd give it a go. I still plan to upgrade it to brushless n' add ailerons in the future, but I'll use it as is for now (I'd also like to try that drop module first).
I would love to get the floats for it this summer too, (in-laws have a cabin on a lake) but I was told they've been back-ordered forever. Might have to rig up my own.

So first mod was strapping my dig. cam. on it's side for some aerial footage. Worked great but somehow got some dirt in-side the lens. No matter, still have 30 day exchange policy on it and the store said no-problem to swap for a new one. (next mod, a plastic shield for the cam.)

Here's the Video, and if anyone has any input on floats or the drop-mod or anything, feel free to comment or msg. me.

I know, it's been a while, but here's an update on my flying adventures (for anyone who cares).
So the EF-2000 flew again, but not for long before the motor blew. (I guess the weed that got sucked in the intake on the short runway wasn't so good for it ) So, I gave up on EDF's for now but I'm planning on replacing the motor and giving it another go in the not so distant future.

Enter the PZ T-28 LOVE IT! Got the new silver/blue PNP last year (partly w/ the money from the sale of my mini-cub). Wanted the red/white but the blue was all they had at the time. No matter, I packing taped 3 flourescent red ribbons under each wing and 1 on the fuse near the tail for visibility, then re-enforced the inside of the cowl w/ pack tape and taped the leading edges of the wing. The wife also got me some LED Nav lighting which I love!

Fast-forward to today, and it's still flying despite a few (maybe 4) minor crashes and several hard landings. I only recently began flying w/ LG as the only runways I have are the gravel driveways beside the barns at my Dad's farm where I work. I Love the challenge of landing on them now, even w/ up to 10-15 mph wind. Only bumped the barn once and the Land. gear took the brunt of it.

Well I came across some extra cash and bought a samsung st45 digital camera with it. At 17mm thick and 4.3 oz. I thought it'd be a perfect way to enter the world of Aerial photography. It's a perfect fit where the pilot used to sit and I've got one sortie with it so far. Hard landing with the wind and extra weight, but the T-28 handled just fine. Will be posting the Vid soon.

My name is Jon and I've been interested in this hobby since I first knew they existed. Got my first plane for my 12th or 13th birthday. A string controlled plastic piper low wing with a small cox nitro engine. It didn't work out so well. Years later my buddy and I duck taped the elevator up, cut the strings n' let 'er rip! She ripped across the street and into the curb. Motor never started again. Fast forward 17 years, and I'm back at it again!! Used my B-day money from my in-laws to purchase a PZ Mini Super-Cub from my LHS this last April. It's very durable and fun to fly albeit a bit twitchy. So, I came across some extra cash, moonlighting, and bought myself an Eagle Eye Heli and a EF-2000. Sold the heli, and finally maidened the jet on the 4th try. The jet flew perfect until the 5th flight and is now under repairs (who put that barn there? ). Heli's are definently not for me but I'm undecided between prop or EDF.

Tape n' glue, good as new!
