Hello,

To see the First Blog Post of this subject then, please go to:

UPDATE: (The KIT has been fully Assembled - FINISHED)

I have performed Weigh-In sessions and taken pictures of just the Dummy Engine "Hollow" Bust in two (2) configurations on the Digital Scale (oz.).

The first is including everything that came in the KIT and I assembled using and following 95% of the supplied instructions from Peter.

The other is leaving OUT the Metal Bolts & Nuts that came with the KIT and the Exhaust Pipe.
(Going to use Tie-Wraps to secure Engine Bust onto the Green three-point mount for weight savings!)

I have also included High Resolution "CLOSE-UP" Pictures of this KIT that was kindly shipped by Peter so, you can see the excellent results using the GORILLA "CLEAR" Glue. This Glue doesn't seem to have added any weight and the Title saying it is "CLEAR" is exactly that because you just can NOT see any residue of Glue anywhere!

Okay, the pictures showing what you have been waiting for (Sort of........).

Oh, as far as the mounting, I have a surprise in store and it will be my favorite thing I do with these models.

Stay Tuned!

The iFlight Titan DC5 is a 5 inch FPV freestyle drone with 222mm. The special thing about the drone is that it has the DJI Air Unit and can be flown with the DJI Digital goggles. The video image is digitally transmitted at 720p 120 frames per second to the goggles. At the same time, the video can be recorded in HD with 1080p 60 frames per second on the drone on a micro SD card. So you really do not need a GoPro camera anymore.

Recently, Guangdong Power Grid Corporation Foshan Sanshui Power Supply Bureau completed the automatic cruise refinement inspection of all 10 kV overhead lines of Nanshan Power Supply Station and has applied refined routes to carry out daily inspections of double-light drones. Nanshan Power Supply Co., Ltd. became the first power supply company of Guangdong Power Grid Corporation to take the lead in realizing the full coverage of multi-sensor automatic cruise. At the same time, it also marks that the UAV has taken a new step in the application level of the distribution network and the level of refined inspection of the equipment.

Using the refined route to carry out "double light" drone automatic cruise

At the beginning of this year, the Guangdong Power Grid Company's aircraft patrol center selected Foshan Sanshui Power Supply Bureau as one of the pilot units for the patrol demonstration application of the drone. The bureau adopted the strategy of first pilot, post-standardization, re-copy, and promotion, and first selected Nanshan Power Supply as a pilot. The power supply area of Nanshan Power Supply Station is 133 square kilometers, and there are 26 10 kilovolt lines in the power supply area. The total length of the line is 284.97 kilometers. The terrain and geology of the area are complex, the gully is vertical and horizontal, and the forest coverage rate is as high as 59%, which is a typical representative.

Thanks to the extreme generosity of one of my flying buds over on the Cox Engine Forum, my currently un-throttled Carl Goldberg "Ranger 42" will be cruising next summer's S.M.A.L.L. Skys behind a vintage "barrel throttle" Medallion .049.

Medallions are sort of an "interim" engine between the good-natured reedies and high-compression Tee Dee engines, and like the Tee Dees, are beam-mounted and will only run in one direction.

The Ranger presently has a Medallion .049 that runs wide open 'till it's fuel is gone and then glides in for a landing. This engine will allow low/slow passes down the flightline, along with the option to land at will (flying bud Tony will once again be asked to step up for these as I shoot some video/photos of the moment!).

Gonna be a fun summer!
Thanks Rene !!!!!!

Good news and bad news.

Lets go bad first, its a shorter story. My company got a new large format scanner/copier/printer recently. Sadly, we also got a new IT company recently, and they can be a little slow to set up necessary equipment and systems for us.
With that said, I was unable to scan the plans into the computer for digital sharing and such. much sadness. When the IT company gets around to PROPERLY setting up the scanner, I'll have those available. I've already met a few people here that are looking for those plans. If anyone reading this need plans for this kit, feel free to send me a DM.

Now on to the good news! The copier portion of this crazy thing works just fine! My boss helped me break out the 36" roll of paper and we were able to make full scale copies of the plans! After a little bit of trial and error, I now have 3 copies of the fuselage assembly and 2 copies of the wing assembly. This is perfect, as I'll be able to take it home, lay it out, and make any modifications I want without ruining the originals.
I will be copying any kit plans from now on. This is a huge benefit and really relives the stress of working directly on the original plans.

Looking over the plans as is, I know there are a few changes to the original design that I want to make.

First desired change: GoPro mount inside the cockpit for a "Pilot POV". I have the Hero Session 5 and it will fit perfectly within the cockpit and provide an epic view (IMO).

Second desired...Continue Reading

Parts of an article by Don McGovern from his "All Wet" column in the August 1968 issue of Flying Models.

Mr. McGovern was, and is still, one of my Model Airplane Heroes, and descriptive writings of his many seaplane adventures in the briny backwaters of New Jersey created images in my mind that exist to this day.

This is one of my favorites because of the bunch of photos included.

Center gearbox of the Ghost Rabbit GR1 (0 min 17 sec)

The internal structure of the center gearbox of the Ghost Rabbit GR1 has been designed to make disassembly and maintenance as easy as possible.
The modular design allows for working on the internal components without the hassle of pulling all gears, shafts and bearings apart.

2s On the stand

6x3 - 130 grams thrust - 3A - 10,000 rpm - 26W
6045 - 129 grams thrust - 4.69A - 7,000 rpm - 36.3W
5030 3 blade - 128 grams thrust - 3A - 10,700 rpm - 24.8W
5030 2 blade - 131 grams thrust - 2.8A - 11,200 rpm - 23.2W
4540 2 blade - 117 grams thrust - 3A - 10,700 rpm - 24.4W

3s On the stand

4230 2 blade ( cut down 5030 )
186 grams of thrust - 4.3A - 15,400 rpm - 50W

I really thought the motor might wind out on the 3s ,,, 12 x 2300 = 27,600 ..... But No !
Apparently this sample is not that grunt'y ..
On 2s it seems rather fixated on performing @ around 130 grams of thrust ..
That 5030 @ 2.8A and 131 grams of thrust , yeah I could live with that .
It be a respectable amount of thrust for the power ..
