OK just received mine. Looks like the FTr16 receiver might be complicated. I saw a lot of threads where all any one wanted to do was complain. Change is good, and acceptance can save you money and reduce stress. So I say the PL18 probably saved me anywhere from 200 to 800 dollars. I like the lipo internal for multiple reasons, like it makes me ensure I don't be lazy and not charge, it can last up to 8 hours of fly time and most likely will, can be charged wirelessly and Micro USB so if I'm weak enough to not charge before I go to the field and even forget my Micro USB cord and remember to bring the wireless unit I can still charge. I fly airplanes, helis and am building a hex copter and am willing to bet that I will be able to use it for my hovercraft and my PT 109. It feels great in my hands, it warns me of errors I am making before I cause myself problems, tells me the battery left on both Tx and Rx with a simple graphic representation. And I still haven't found out a minuscule fraction of the capabilities available. If you are scared to buy one, download the operators manual and quick start guides and learn about it before you sell it short. It looks like the racing receiver is a bit complicated, but because I build from balsa plywood basswood and plans, I'm sure I will enjoy the challenge. Came to me from Hong Kong in about 10 days. Can't wait to launch my hex with this radidio.
