We know some of you love your Hobie Hawk gliders one of the nicest vintage gliders around. and a Great Glider Model to have. They were put in to build around 1974.
A small bit of History
1976 or 1977 - Shortly after Coast Catamaran purchased Hobie Alters Hobie Cat Company the Hobie Hawk and tooling was sold to Midwest Products Co. of Hobart, Indiana. It continued to be produced as the "Midwest" Hawk until 1979.
February 1979 - the tooling was purchased by Bob Martin RC Models and they produced approximately 4,500 Hawks between June 1980 and July 1986.
1990 - Dennis Ross of Ross Model Co. Sparks, Nevada purchased the Hobie Hawk tooling from Bob Martin. Dennis Ross made limited production runs of the Hawk with the last full production run in 1994 - that year being the 20 year anniversary of the Hobie Hawk.
We make the Glider Bags for the Boxes of the Hobie Hawk for anyone who still needs one. They are specifically designed for the Hobie Hawk box because of the way it is made, with its two adjoining top and bottom parts. Hi Guys
So I was approached by some pilots on what is the difference in glider bags. I found a picture of a Glider Bag in comparison with our own builds and this is what I found out.
All of our Glider bags at Ace Customs are made of a durable heavyweight material on the outer side of the glider Bag and Foam and Fleece or Velour on the inside covering all areas of the glider bag, side walls bottom, and zipped areas to keep the glider safe clean and protected. Zippers are on all three sides and can be opened all the way for accessibility to put the glider in and take the Glider and parts out of the bag. Pockets on the inside of our Glider bag have foam and Fleece or Velour for the Elevator pocket and some that have the removable Vertical tail also have a pocket that is lined with Foam and Fleece or velour to protect the tailpiece. Glider bags are sewn with Mil-spec thread making them very durable and strong, and second sewing with binding tape for finishing and longer durability.
This competitor glider bag in comparison, on the inside, uses Ripstop Nylon Material, There is no padding for the Elevator pockets on the inside. The Zippered Areas of the Glider Bag that goes around the bag has no padding or protection as you can see in the picture. The zipper only goes partway down the side of the bag giving you less accessibility than if you could open it all the way.
Overall it is an ok bag.

We have a New Item, RC Wing Tip Protectors for your Aircraft. These are designed and are made for the RC Aircraft Wing Tips. At the Flying fields, we have seen the winds pick up and toss an Aircraft or just pick up one side and scrape the tips of the Aircraft damaging the coating on the plane so we are making RC wing tip covers to combat this problem. We are making along with our RC Sailboat Rig Bags an RC Sailboat keel bag for the removable keels on some of the RC Sailboats like the Dragon Force and the Kyosho Seawind and many more... We understand you want just as much protection of these components as you want for the rest of your Sailboats. We have designed the Sailboat Keel Bag to hold the Keel and the Rudder for safe transport to and from your sailing site.
For some New to sailing you might ask what a keel is:
The keel is basically a flat blade sticking down into the water from a sailboat's bottom. It has two functions: it prevents the boat from being blown sideways by the wind, and it holds the ballast that keeps the boat right-side up. The ballast is usually lead. There are different shaped keels, some are stationary fixed in one position, and some work off of hydraulics or cables to bring the keel up and down allowing you to go into shallower waters… A pretty neat feature if you want to beach a boat or you just sailing through very shallow reefs.

So we like to bring you our newest when we can. This is an RC Glider Backpack bag that we made for the Glass Slippers. It has 3 pockets on the front two Velcro and one zipper pocket. In the zipper pocket, we have added a Padded and elastic holder to put the Transmitter behind inside the zippered pocket so the transmitter is more secured inside the pocket, The pocket was made to hold the Jeti Duplex which is a much larger Transmitter we are the only ones that have done this and believe this will give you added security for the transmitter. I mean when you trekking up a mountain with $5000 to $6000 worth of gear on your back we want you to get it there safe. This one has fuse pockets that will hold a Glider with a fuse that is 26 inches in circumference which is a pretty good size. My glider is not quite that size but is a good example in the picture. So all in all this is an upgraded backpack glider bag that holds a lot of the glider. This one was designed for the FINESSE MAX F3Q 4.1M to be flown in the French Alps. Not a bad location, would love to go there and fly :-)

Sizes are 20-27" and 27-34" There is a nice option if you are looking for something to put your Props in. We also make 3 blade propeller bags and four-blade Prop bags and our Nonslip Prop cover you can just slide over your props that are on the Plane already. All our products are made in the USA.

These are really nice and come in different colors. It's a great way to transport your cars and keep the finish nice. They are padded on the inside with nice sturdy YKK zippers. There's a front pocket for some tools or small items. We will have these up on our site shortly. If you need one sooner just contact me and we will get it to you. Again all our products are made in the USA by our technicians.
As I stated before we will be bringing some new items for everyone which we hope you will like and enjoy for years to come. These items will be listed along with our Wing Bags, Glider Bags. Non-Slip Prop Covers and an assortment of other items.
