Video of my FT Super Bee (nicknamed Zipper) on its maiden flight and crash. I was using the high performance motors (red bottoms) and 4S lipo. Due to the quick speed and cramped space I overcorrected to avoid the tree and down she came. Damage was actually pretty minor. The plane is a little speed demon!

I acquired this one from Dave Walter at the Walter RC Park in Saranac Mi, and it was just the cut foam only. It is a West Michigan Park Flyers "McFoamy" but it was one of the early kits which is no longer produced. I finally received the missing wood and carbon fiber parts for it and started the assembly yesterday. Covering is colored packing tape I had leftover... Uncovered assembly Pics are from the WMPF site as I did not take any during the assembly...

I finally got this Alpina back together. It had a devastating crash that snapped the fuse in half and folded the nose over. It took a lot of fiberglass cloth and Bondo to get her back together. Luckily the repair only added about 4 ounces.

I did a build thread over here:

Thermal Camera Gimbal For Drone With 50mm Lens,Tracking And Geotagging (4 min 10 sec)

Sky Eye-T50 is a 3-axis high stabilized gimbal with thermal camera. The thermal camera is with 640*480 resolution,25HZ,allows you to detect targets in the night or low visibile conditions, and provides you with priceless information.Furthere more, the thermal camera comes with a 50mm lens, which will enable you to get very clear thermal image even you are 500 meters away from the target.High-performance 3-axis gimbal is developed based on FOC(field-oriented control) technology, which will give you crystal clear video footage.

Sky Eye-T50 is using the most advanced thermal tracking technology, with which you will be able to track the target very easily. How it works: put the object you want to track in the screen, move the cursor to the object and lock it via controller, and then the camera will track it automatically.

Another big feature for Sky Eye-T50 is that the gimbal will geotag the video streaming and photos, also gimbal Yaw/Pitch angle, height, time information will be displayed on camera OSD,this is really important when you are conducting missions like rescue and search.

Sky Eye-T50 comes with an amazing advantage that the gimbal can not only be controlled via PWM signal, but also serial command. Also gimbal status(like Yaw/Pitch/Roll angle, zoom position etc) can be obtained by sending serial command to the gimbal via its serial port, which is really useful for precise gimbal...Continue Reading

Incredibly enough, I managed to get in a few sessions of quad flying this summer. Didn't bring any planes yet, parks are too small and I don't have time to maintain both quads and aircraft (and even quads are a stretch, 3/4 of my fleet are non-flyable right now).

So instead we play in the water. The vet says the dog needs exercise but it can't be too strenuous (she's 12), so we try to get her to swim every weekend. I should get a slower R/C boat, though...

I've started building a couple of seaplanes, parts are on the way (couldn't bring myself to dismantle a quad for motors/escs!). Will let you know how it goes...

There is a nice 104 gram 95C 850 mah 4S pack that will fit in the CA. Shorter motor runs in the 3-5 second time frame may extend motor off glide time and reduce weight. I plugged in a 90% charged 1500 4S 100C drone pack and after 4 seconds measured 23 Amps and 290 watts. I did another 5 second run with the Aeronautics blades and measured 20 amps and still high watts. Problem is the little. 28.8 mm motor got warmer so its either smaller blades or different motor rated for 3-4 cells. Will have to see what others have done. A 35 mm outrunner will fit with a little cowl trimming for cooling air.
