My implementation of the Vanessa CG machine.

found the attached construction document (pdf file) and decided I needed to build one.

I'll have to look up the thread where I found it in RCG ...click here for thread

Some pictures pasted below , to show its actual use with the mini Funtana.

Magnetic prop balancer

built using a finger prop balancer ( bought from Uncle George, a fellow RCG member ), and two magnets scavenged from Hard Disk Drives, previously part of the voice coil head actuator.

If interested , I have a few sets of magnets to give away for free,

The plane needed just a little TLC to get in flying condition, and here it is waiting for the new maiden flight.

My Static Thrust test fixture .

The Tachometer function is built around a Velleman infrared beam interruption kit , model MK120 ,
bought at Fry's for $8 , ( link to the MK120 kit ) , with some minor circuit modifications.

The digital scale is a Centech 1000g full scale unit bought at Harbor Freight.

The Fluke multimeter is set to the frequency , [Hertz] , measurement mode.

N [RPM] = 30 * Frequency [Hz] , in the case of a two blade prop.

To measure the battery current , I use a Simpson RMS Current Clamp meter

A servo tester is used to drive the ESC control input (bought from ED3, a fellow member of RCG).
