So I'm starting another blog entry and I'll update this one until the day mine comes.
So this is actually started back in late 2013 and into 2014 when I first heard about Robugtix' T8 (with the furry skin). I wanted one straight away since I have a liking for tarantulas and at the time, I had 2 pet tarantulas.

Unfortunately my wife did not let me pre-order one.

I have since been looking around but I don't think the company ever sold many - I never saw many posts about it online and didn't see anything on eBay.... until about 10 days ago when I decided to check my eBay notifications and one of them had the title Robugtix!
I opened the email straight away and sure enough - it was an actual Robugtix T8X Spider!!!!
I immediately emailed the seller to ask questions, and placed the item in my Watch List since my payday wasn't until a few days later..

I tried to be practical about it and not think too much about it since I know I'll have it for a couple of hours and it will go back in its box and stored in the attic. But the price was right and I knew I'll never see one for sale again since I waited around 8 years for it and never saw one come up for sale!

I emailed the seller with an encrypted offer. He came back a couple of days later and countered with a tiny bit more to my original offer to which I accepted. But I did not pay immediately since I was still having 2nd thoughts.
The seller was very understanding and offered to send me photos and videos when he...Continue Reading

Well I've not been around for a long while but lately I have found myself coming back often again.
Whenever I need proper info on anything RC related, I tend to come in here rather than stay on Social Media looking around Groups.

Anyhow - I accidentally bought a new toy! And I asked my 6 year old daughter if she wanted to unbox it for her Youtube channel! :P
I didn't tell her anything about the toy.

Well, my brother bought this Tamiya nearly 10 years ago. He started building it but then stored it half done until last year - because of my constant begging for him to finish it, he decided to finish it last year. But his radio was busted so he asked me to take it and test it and see if it works as it's never been powered on.

I have to say after watching Fury the movie last month, I'm starting to like tanks!

Just thought I post another blog update...
Altho this ain't really new as I've had this since March 2015.

I wanted to buy a Roban 800 Airworf as a 40th birthday present to myself... but then I started liking the shape and the cool factor of the DJI Inspire 1.
I asked my wife and she said the quad is smaller so I'll probably get to fly that more and easier to transport. Her reasoning made sense so I placed an order.

Sure enough - this thing is cool! But I'm afraid flying multirotors is really just not my thing. I find them boring! They're definitely not toys I don't think - they're flying cameras and they (to me anyway) are just good for that one specific purpose: shooting videos or taking photos in the air!
I'm afraid I have not flown mine for over a month. it's back in the box looking brand new!

I should have bought that Airwolf!

We do have a week vacation planned soon down south so I'm going to take the quad with me and will see if I can put it to good use.

Anyway - here's a video I took when I first got the quad:

I've been playing with the Phantom since Oct 2013 - but I never tried RTH because of all these 'flyaway' issues most people get..

A couple of weekends ago, I was playing around, the sky was clear so I decided to activate fail safe to check...
Sure enough, it came back and landed! I managed to run back and get my camcorder on its final descent..
It was pretty cool! It was windy and I thought it would tip but it tried to control itself and even reacted when it almost tipped over. I was definitely impressed... but I still wouldn't do it often!

Rejoined my local club and even tho I have been sick most of the week, I braved it and flew all weekend.
Got sunburnt in the process but it was an awesome weekend! Unfortunately my friend crashed his 700 on his first flight on Sunday but he had his 450 as backup.
This video was on my last battery (3rd) on Sunday.

Not much to update... just wanted to let everyone know I'm missing flying my baby!
Stupid UK weather... and I guess the DJI Phantom's so easy to just fly from the garden that it tends to get flown more often.
Plus the fact, I guess, that my trex' batteries take hours to charge, maybe another reason why I have not flown my heli!

UPDATE: June 02 2017
Apologies - I thought I had updated this.
I have stopped making rods now since there's so many people that have copied and selling them as well. So I decided to stop and spend more time with my family as making rods were taking up most of my time.
I might start again for the latest quadcopters this summer as I know they're harder to balance like the new props for the Mavic.

Safe flying!

UPDATE: May 20 2016
NO real updates... still making the rods for whoever wants them...
Flying season has started and I've started to dust off my planes and heli!

and now, our baby girl is old enough to help pack the rods as well!

UPDATE: Sept 2015
It's been confirmed that the 3DR Solo uses the same balancing rods as the Phantom. So contact me if you require one. Thanks!

UPDATE: June 30 2015
I have Balancing rods for the DJI E800 and also the new quick release propellers for the Inspire:

Not much.. just a quick update:
Summer 2013, I bought a Trex 700e DFC HV - pretty cool toy! It's my new baby!

Sept 2013, I got married

Oct 2013, wife got me a DJI Phantom as an early xmas present!
That's what I've been playing at the mo since it's too much hassle taking the big heli to a field for a fly whereas I can just fly the Phantom from my garden!
Gets a bit boring tho. Definitely just for photo/video taking! Not much fun flying it around on its own!

Need a gimbal and fatshark. those will be for xmas/ or early 2014

Well, we went to the Large Model Airshow at Elvington Airfield today and I came back with......

a brand new Spektrum DX8!!!!

I have had my eye on this transmitter since I bought my 450 pro but a lot of people have been talking scary things about this hence the delay.
Andy K has been helpful in restoring faith back and some threads on here have been encouraging so, it was on sale at the show today and I just could not say no.
I only have a 6100e receiver tho.. so not sure if that is enough for my 450pro or i should buy a new one.
firmware on mine is 2.01 so i think I will need to upgrade. Just looking now.

Well, I figured I'd put something new on here... I have stopped flying my HZSupercub LP for the time being as I'm trying to get back into helicopters again. I purchased a Trex 450 PRO about a month ago and have been flying that almost everyday.
I purchased some more batteries for it as the 2 batteries I have are 5 years old and just not good anymore.
When I tried the new batteries (Turnigy 2200 20c and 40c), wow! I could feel the difference! The heli had lots of power, it scared me a bit.
I think my photos are on Flickr and I will link here in a bit.

my LAMA has been on display since i had a minor crash (outside of the house fighting the wind) and cracked some blades..and bent the shaft.
finally decided to order some spare parts last week. parts came beginning of this week.
when i replaced the blades, there was major wobble on the heli. i knew it must have been the blades not balanced. so i took them off and balanced the top blades first. sure enough, one blade needed A LOT of tape to get it to balance.
last night, i have decided to rebalance the blade properly. took me about an hour. now, she flies wonderfully and altho there's still a slight vibration, she looks good in the air!
i still want to fully balance everything on her tho..but with the imminent arrival of my new Trex XL, this might get pushed back.
