This is my own design VTOL aircraft made from sheet foam .
Control is via two servo elevons and single electric motor with throttle.
Model was built and flown around 2010.
Due to its design it could be made lighter and larger quite simply.
It proved to be a very good test frame for further development.

I have been flying water planes for a number of years now .
My most recent model the large Sea Master 120 scratch build is just a great model to fly and handles the water so well.
After completing the North Star , I now have a favorite water plane.
It tracked perfectly in the water trials and first flew with a 4000 mAh 3S lipo with slow flying speed.
Second flight was very impressive with a 5000 mAh 6S lipo. What a joy to fly....and land on water.
I modified / raised the motor pylon 3 inch higher to accommodate a 12 inch prop and glad I did.
Apart from a couple clicks of down trim it flew perfectly straight ...power on or off.
Motor is a Eflite power 32 running a 11 x 7 3 blade prop...60 amp esc and 5000 mAh 6S lipo .
All up weight is 90 oz...quite light really.....it glides / floats around without power on surprisingly well.

So many times I have been restricted to sitting in front, at a fixed location , looking into a FPV screen to do my flying , especially take off and landings.
Also there are times when the model has unknowingly flown behind a obstical and signal and video is lost.
So why not have the FPV screen attached to you and easily have line of sight available to you within a second or two.
Also in some flying sites it is not practical to set up a FPV ground station easily.
The best attribute is having line of sight and the fpv screen available in the blink of an eye and it being portable.
Unlike fpv goggles, you have the best of both views of your model without taking off goggles and trying to find where your model id in the sky.

First flight of the modified vintage "Hobie Hawk".
eflite park 450....18amp esc....10x4.7 apc prop...1,000 mAh lipo.
Folding prop and small spinner yet to come.
I needed to add under 1oz to tail area to get balance correct.
20 minute flight in calm cool conditions.
Very happy.
