Selfie Drone follow-up
Eachine E52

https://goo.gl/DYAugy

The new Eachine e52 is in and I must say, great product!!!

Unboxing
The package arrived completely undamaged thanks to the nice box it was packaged in. A small little dent on the box was the only thing that showed the trip it took from China to U.S.

When I opened it up I was so happy to see a full sized transmitter inside.

Flying
3 words words: stable stable stable. The yaw was a little slow, but other than that, this thing flies beautifully.

App
Using the app left a very pleasant experience. I found the thumb controls to be far easier than the gyro control. Video signal was clear although the range on the phone isn't very far. With just the radio its great. Maybe that's my phone's fault. Who knows.

Altitude Hold
Every time I see a spring loaded throttle stick, I think - "oh boy." But today - wahoo! This thing holds perfectly. Banging the sticks around I can get it to drop about 6-12" but as soon as I return to a hover it recovers altitude within inches-- EVERY TIME! very impressive.

There are other features I still need to figure out, but my impressions so far???

I can't believe this quad is only $35. They have come so far so fast its almost hard to believe.

Great job Banggood! You did it again!

The past couple of days I've been attempting to modify the phantom 2 battery so I can use normal (much cheaper) lipos with it. I think this method shown by Verid1st on YouTube is the best as it doesn't require any modification to the actual drone so normal phantom batteries can still be used.

Phantom 2 battery MOD (15 min 8 sec)

This post is really just a written up version of his method, with a bit more detail about each individual step and some pictures.

Before you start this mod, remember that this is quite a large lipo battery you're dealing with. Read all the instructions and watch verids1st's video before you begin and take each step slowly and carefully, particularly the steps that deal directly with the lipo cells such as removing the case and later removing the cells. If at any point the cells heat up or you can see them swelling immediately put the battery in a fireproof container e.g lipo bag and take it outside. Failure to take care while doing this could cause a fire or at worst an explosion. You are doing this at your own risk, please don't blame me if it goes wrong

Also, I've made up most of the names for the parts of the battery so just in case you don't know what I'm on about at any point, below is a labelled picture.

1. Pull the cap off the battery. Get your thumb under the edge and just pull hard until the glue breaks and the cap comes off. Be careful not to lose the button.

2. Cut round the seam of the battery case using a scalpel. Do...Continue Reading

Haven't built this one yet....just finished the preliminary drawings.......plan is for a 60" wing span, KFM-2 wing, and (2) 70 mm fans.....I guess we'll see soon.

Weather doesn't look to promising for flying so I guess I'll start cutting this one out.

Haven't posted in a while, so this will serve as catch up.....4 new ones.....

The white twin had 64's and was anemic in flight, the grey twin had 70's and flew beautifully, was playing around with masking tape on the camo one...and the combat was a replacement

some say it is; others dont. the1s say it is, say they face it with their planes, and are willing to bet their lives for it.
and i think that both are correct.
how could that be?
lets start with this fact: things are relative. it depends on which kind of planes are they talking about.
those who think there is, fly slow, low wing loading airplanes. large and light.
the others fly fast, heavy planes. mmhhhh...
a fast/heavy plane does not care about the wind intensity or direction.
a slow/light does.
could that be the reason why the 1s that fly fast/heavy think that there is not such a thing?
i would like to watch those who dont think it is, flying a light piper cub style plane in turbulent/windy weather and try a downwind turn near the ground on the approach and hear what they say

Everything arrive nice and safe , a few dings on the box but Royal Mail do like a game of 5 aside now and again, everything inside was nicely protected by foam though.

Irangex I6X pretty much a Flysky I6 with a few changes to the menu system. ** You have to manually set the switches for arm/modes etc , the on/off menu for the switches is in the very last System menu, marked Aux Switches just in case you get lost , you may not have to do it but i did **

yesterday the weather was good, so i could fly the rad for a long time, as am evaluating a series of cells so it was non-stop flight after flight. i havent flown it for eons due to the windiest weather in history. and i had forgotten how wonderful this plane is
there are some birds that are nesting nearby, and chase my gliders when making the approach, so i have to do evasive maneuvres, but still it was a pleasure to fly this little wonder again. and weather permitting, will keep doing it, as there are cells to evaluate. i used to fly it everyday and was the time of my life. now i hope it will be again. and am flying it without gyros, as the stock brick tracks worn out and i had another brick of the old generation, before gyros, but as there was almost no wind, there was no need for gyros anyway.
life is so much fun with the rad

Hello my names Wayne. Im 29 just got into multirotors a couple of months ago. Interested in airplanes and helis too. I bought an eachine racer 250 and after the first initial crashes and working the kinks out of it. I love it I try to fly every day I am almost flying without any stabilization. But when u get into trouble i flick my flight mode switch as fast as I can. Anyways I'm going to try to make some how to videos throw them on the youtube because there are no good one for the racer 250 and connecting the so called cc3d it came with to librapilot. Those guys over there are awesome. I love the gcs for LP. Super easy and some cool things look like they are coming sooner or later depending if you can make your own code or know how to paste it in to the correct places out if bitbucket. So here is to a bright future in the r/c lifestyle.

I spotted a DH-88 ARF that had a 3.3m span on YouTube. I wonder if someone has one of these to sell.

I was wondering if it is worth it to buy the fatsharks dominator hd3 now or should i wait for the newer version ? I am using curently the ev800 not ev800D but i want something more professional but im afraid i pay 500$ and two months later a newer fatshark dominator is released. What do you think?
And any recommendations for the eachine x220s for freestyle and not a very loud noise on 4s?
