This Build Log is for the Sopwith Pup that RJPIoW designed and made plans for. RJPIoW’s original thread can be found at https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=883375. Because I originally was going to make it from $TF, I re-sized it down to 30" wing span from his original 32". I also added the 1" to the nose section as Squall advised. I resized the thicknesses of the formers as needed. I then sent the modified plans to birdofplay at Hoosier Cutout Services. Bob obtained approval from RJPIoW to produce depron kits. I bought the kit over a year ago, hard to believe it was that long ago. After a long delay, let the journey begin. Plus, I figure that it will be easier to move to my new place with it in one piece instead of many small pieces.

I printed out plans and cut out the parts for a 29 7/8" wing span version of the Puddle Twin. I really liked the lines of both the Puddle Twin and the Puddle Twin XL. I decide to start with the Puddle Twin and incorporate almost all of the updates recommended by Dieter W on RCLineForum.de into my build. I used Dieter W pictures that he posted on RCLineForum.de because of the quality of his pictures and ideas.

I thought that I had posted all these pictures back in February. However, when I got asked for an update in the Depron Puddle Twin thread I realized that I had not.

My Puddle Twin has been waiting since February on the back burner. However, it is ready for the plastic or fiberglass reinforcement on the bottom, servos, motors, and motor mounts to be installed. After seeing Mike Spring's OSG in person at Flite Fest 2015, I decided that I had to try one. The body of the original is a little narrow for my fingers. I made a SketchUp copy of Mike's plans and widened the fuselage and added ailerons. This also increased it to parts of two pieces of foam. I sent the file to Staples for a full size print to be made. After attaching the plans to Dollar Tree foam the cutting and gluing commenced. I used a cut down 1/2" X 3/8" balsa leading edge for my wing leading edge and strengthener.The leading edge was trimmed down to 3/8" X 3/8". I built the fuselage with "B" style Flite Test folds. I will be making a cowl to enclosed the motor.

In Lockey's Dollar Tree Foam ... EZ-Jets thread he posted plans for a Mirage. I asked him if he ever considered making a Kfir, he pointed out that a Kfir is a lot like the Mirage. I asked Lockey for his permission and he not only granted permission he even helped me out by sharing his SketchUp file. I thought I might take a stab at converting his Mirage plans in SketchUp to make a “sort of scale” Kfir C2. In other words the silhouette will match up to the 3 view drawing.

I want to build a Kfir because; I fell in love with the lines of the Kfir when I first saw them at NAS Oceana back in 1986 or 87 when I was in the Navy. The U.S. Navy/Marine aggressor variant is known as the F-21. Plus, Lockey’s jets and videos make them seem not only possible but fun. Bouncing some foam into the ground will definitely be cheaper than my fiberglass Laser that tested the soil density at the airfield one summer afternoon.

This is my most ambitious attempt in foam building and first scale type build in either foam or balsa. As I was typing this out I realized that with a 30" wingspan it will be almost 52" long, hmm…will that even fit in my 4 door Passat?!?!) I am enjoying the process of "bashing" Lockey's Mirage design. Come to think of it, the only balsa kits that I ever built without bashing the kit or plans was my Midwest Lil Tri-Squire, Q.B. 15H, Q.B. 20H, and an Ace Littlest Stick.

Here is my attempt to make a biplane out of the Flite Test Mini-scout. The wing span is barely over 24" and 5 31/32" wide. I stretched the fuselage a little. I also changed the tail feathers a little bit. The bottom wing has 1 43/64" of dihedral. The top wing has no dihedral, but is swept 7/8". I lowered the location where the bottom wing goes through the fuselage. The top wing is 4 5/64" above the bottom wing at the wing roots. Glide testing and flying show that the correct the CG is at the 1 7/8" mark behind the leading edge of the top wing.

I received my OSF kit from One Sheet Kits today. I am ready to start the assembly process tomorrow.

Here is my electrified interpretation of the Lil Sister that appeared in AERO MODELLER September/Octob​er 2013. It was originally an Embryo size rubber model designed by S. E. Higginson. I saw JDMJim's rendition shown in https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...1#post27528916. Seeing his version inspired me to try it also. I do not have the electronics yet. I will install the firewall when I can see grass.
