Im a relatively new flyer in the RC world. About 5 years ago, I got my first model and fell in love with the hobby. At the time, I knew nobody that flew around me, and refused to drive 30-45 minutes to a field. So I started taxiing around in my driveway, which is fairly large. As my confidence grew with my ground handling, my speed got quicker. Before I knew it, I was going around somewhere near half throttle. Suddenly, the nose wheel hit a hole and sent the nose into the air, and away she went. Instantly I panicked and hit the throttle for some unknown reason. One thing led to another and Im fighting the rudder (this was a three channel BTW) trying to keep the wings level and over-corrected one too many times and lawn darted into the driveway. With a busted spinner, broken prop, and a blown out wing tip, I hung my head in shame and put things up for a while. I finally got the energy up to rebuild the model, and gave it another try. After intentionally taking off, and after LOTS of simulator practice, things went much smoother. I knew what to expect, and somewhat how to control it. My knees were shaking so bad I could barely stand, but I was having a blast. From that day forward, I was hooked.

Due to time issues, I couldnt fly as much as I liked, but I did as often as I could. I finally got a bi-plane from a guy that was getting out of the hobby, and this was his only model that wasn't trashed. It was a Sig Hog Bipe. This plane flew great! Better than any other I had,...Continue Reading
