Assembly has started !
I am at the point where I have to think about the power plant ( motor ) .
Front section is only tapped on for the picture .

Ailerons needs doing !
Motor / ESC / Battery for CG and power .
The fuse seems tolerable for weight , but that wing is a house brick !

I have a motor , and I will have to test it first . I need thrust and a fair bit of it to haul this house brick !
This plane is not going to fly slow . And I thought the Super Kinetic was heavy !

Polyurethane Foam, Polyethylene Foam, Extruded Polystyrene Foam (XPS), Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), insulation foam and similar types of foams are widely used for mould making, statues making, big 3d signs making.
A big size CNC router or a CNC robot with a big long foam mill bits can do these kinds of foam milling job. But how to choose the foam cutters? And how to set rpm specs?

Usually, two kinds of foam mills widely used, ball end and flat end. Flat end foam router bits widely used for foam cutting, rough cutting, ball end foam router bits widely used for foam cutting, finish carving.
For fast milling, you can choose a big diameter shank and CEL foam bits.

How to set the specifications?
The big foam bits RPM designed is 7000-10000RPM.
For EPS foam milling, we suggest setting the spindle RPM at 8000RPM. It is good for the machine cutters and can get a good surface finish.

For example, cut 80mm thickness polystyrene, we suggest twice cutting, one path cut 40mm thickness, running 8000rpm, feed rate at 150mm/Sec.
If you cut 80mm thickness once, run 8000rpm, feed rate should be within 70mm/Sec. Please try it.

Other information for reference:
I usually mill with these bits at about 7,000 rpm, and 70 inches per minute. It depends on the foam. I usually set the feed to 70 ipm, since that is the fastest I want to run the machine. Then do a test cut, and turn the rpm down until the foam cutting sounds good, (sort of a slicing sound)...Continue Reading

Well, it is now a matter of good weather forecast here in Central Florida to maiden my Hobby King SLICK 3D 1300mm model.

Again, I am a Scale / Sport flyer and modeler and just could not stand an airplane as nice looking as this without a Pilot Figure. The Pilot Bust had to be pretty large scale and I looked and looked and found one that matches and pretty light considering it's size! I did find a nice Snoopy Pilot Bust but, it was a little too large, perhaps one day I will acquire a larger SLICK to use this Snoopy?

Yes, I have setup dual rates and expo and will look forward in using all settings but, for now I will try and get it in the Air on it's wing without trying anything too extreme and especially 3D.

The only thing that remains is measuring WATTs / AMPs / Under Load Voltage of the Power System given the two different battery packs that I have selected which is the GEN ACES 3-Cell, 2600mAH, 45C and the GFORCE Elite Series with Nonotech Additives 4-Cell, 4000mAH, 30C, Lithium Polymer batteries.

A few pictures!...Continue Reading

See attached files:
(The original drawing is in ACAD format hidden in the .ZIP file)

How to make the thrust tube
Print it out on a paper or direct on a plastic film if possible.
Cut film/paper tac glued together with scissors
Fold as shown
Glue or use tape to lock thrust tube fold

Install in A4 plane (the difficult part)
I had to cut slices in the efflux exit to get the thrust tube
straight and aligned. See photos

*Good news * No GREAT RC NEWS!! The amazing pristine large white foam sheets called Depron ( yes from the original German factory)

ATTENTION - I just paid for an entire 20 foot shipping container of Depron to come to the USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This FIRST (OF MANY) shipment has 90 cases of 3mm White Depron and 90 cases of 6mm White Depron

***************should be available for sale Sept 1st 2020******************and FINALLY at LOWER PRICES!!!

A website is now being created for it... ( Lord provide it clears customs on time!!)

I've purchased several domain names that will be linked to it ( when the site is up ) / / Depron.Sales /

The 2020 depron samples I received from the factory look very impressive and Very slightly lighter! (To Me) The samples satiny finish looked equal or better than what sold me years ago. In Europe this product is being "marketed" as floor underlay insulation (it's good stuff!). They say they can't make it fast enough! It was a REAL challenge convincing then to sell it to me!! The 5 minute epoxy & UHU glue tests I performed on my samples proved to have a Strong bond! I'm excited to get my shipment in and to start building depron models again!! Today I braved the heat like a long time Phoenix resident will, mad dogs and Englishmen kind of stuff, and went over to my park with my plane for a few quick flights. I had my busted up Champ, the one tricked out with lights, with me and figured the wind wasnt that bad. I took off with no troubles and yeah the wind was all over the place but I could manage it. Its fun to fly a very small plane in 10 MPH gusts. After my first battery (260mAh 9gm) I figured Id put a heavier battery on it (500mAh 18gm) and see how it handles the gusts. As the plane isnt made to carry a batter that big it was just hanging in there by a little Velcro. Ok, good enough I thought, I wont do any acrobatics. A launched it plane and yeah it was heavy but it flew better. Did a few circuits around the perimeter of the park, fighting the wind half the time the other half zipping through the air with a nice tail wind. What I hadnt taken in account was that the wind was going to make the plane do acrobatics for me. The tiny Champ bobbed up and down abruptly and suddenly it stopped being an RC plane but a bomber and a free flight glider all at the same time. The battery plummeted around 50 feet to the ground and I reflexively tried to work the stick but obviously that wasnt going to do much. The plane continued on it course and much to my joy it didnt go out of control as the center of gravity has just been drastically altered. I figure it was going to catch a gust and end up in a random backyard but nope, it started to glide towards a particularly magnetic tree. Ive had planes fatally attracted to this tree before, no joy there. Well it did hit the tree but it was just the left wing. Clipped it real nice and it took a tight spiral down to the ground. Oh happy days! I get to fly it again.
So Im going to make a better battery sling for generic batteries and go out to fly again.
Oh yeah, I found the battery too.
