Whoover build (3 min 55 sec)

I made a whoover from an old black h8 frame
It has 6mm motors
720 lift motor mounted on a walkera ladybird leg mount
It runs on an unused jjrc1000 FC but NotFastEnuff has great firmware for blueboard and Bwhoop FC's

I used 3 1000uF caps on the motors to filter gyro jerk

It has the AKK BS2 AIO FPV camera mounted on the frond of the H8 mini frame with a rubber band and some metal spike pushed through the frame

The skirt design with a sandwich bag works very wel the skirt blows up and passess air to the front. When you speed up more weight gets on the nose of the craft and the RPM of the lift motor goes down making it whoover very nicely.
Not much firmware in this project but NotFastEnuff has some ready!

On the CC01, there is a screwed down plastic shelf that holds the ESC and receiver, as well as holding the battery pack in place. The reduction gear installation meant there was less space for the battery. It could fit in theory, standing on edge.

Removing the shelf and cutting it in two parts before screwing it back on provided shelves and space for a mid mounted battery. A forward dual strap mount is available too. Now my CC01 is capable of holding up to three 2200mAh LiPO:s in parallel which should provide a long runtime.

The LED installation is finished and the cables are held with hot glue and the interior fits nicely using the Tamiya-supplied pads and velcro.

Lastly, the crawler wheels are a little too big and to use them requires some mods.

Next up is weathering of the bodyshell. The plan is to use dust in form of eyeshadow and layer of flat clear PS-55 paint. Painting my two Stampedes truck beds served as practice and resulted in a too flat finish for the Pajero.

This video is the result of my desire to use a legendary McCoy 60, running on spark ignition, without all the drama of high performance competition flying.

There has been a lot of discussion about wing alignment and the alignment of the main wing rod and the alignment pin for the wings....the following is how the fuselage was put together.

FYI: When I first bought the tooling from Midwest and discovered that they had modified several of the jigs and equipment, so I became very cautious when making a new part. There are so many parts, processes and secondary processes to make this legendary plane. Problem is, like a jig saw puzzle, if you modify one part, as Midwest did, none of the rest will fit. If I were making tail cones, I would inspect and verify it is correct size, length etc. If I were making rudders, again I would verify that it was correct in every way. Having experience with rotational molding the Dura-lene fuselages, when it came to the Hobie nose pieces, again verify, verify, verify.
Most of you do not know that the cross linked polyethylene nose cone has an aluminum main wing rod insert and a brass alignment wing rod insert that are molded into the nose cone. Both of these inserts are inserted into the mold, the mold closed up and put into an oven and rotated every which way. The granulated plastic slides around in the mold until the interior of the mold gets hot enough to melt the plastic grains and they stick to and coat all interior parts including the inserts. When the plastic has all melted and coated everything inside the mold and reaches a certain temperature the plastic cross links. Next...Continue Reading

Well, they ought to pronounce it frisky...

I'm tired of waiting for my Spektrum transmitter to die to justify taking the FrSky plunge, I want to take the damn plunge now, today. It's been a while since I crashed anything, so I figure I owe myself a treat. I'm trying real hard to do this right with respect to what's compatible with what in order to accomplish this and that, but I need one or two of you to vet my purchasing game plan before pulling the trigger.

Of all things on which to overspend, I'd put the transmitter right up there with my ol' lady's engagement ring (bless her heart for putting up with me, for example this monetary disappearing act I'm attempting to execute). So if I'm taking this plunge I'm going with the X10S, the Cadillac of the Frsky offerings, I want to take full advantage of it. This includes (firstly flashing OpenTX in case that doesn't go without saying) having sixteen if not thirty-two channels operational, manipulating flight controller settings and indulging in a full-blown telemetry data addiction relapse. With those general requirements I have not found one site that has everything I need, so I need to use multiple vendors.:
  • I'll get the X10S from Aloft or MotionRC, probably not the classifieds.
  • I want either the G-RX8 or the S8R receiver: They both have eight channels ready and capable of more, I think each have full telemetry support, one has a vario built-in, the other has a stabilizer (I only need anti-wind/turbulence, nothing

Wee bit of a pause with my build. Bent a fender on the Co. delivery van, a 5 ton with 18 box on Friday.
I think it may buff out.
Bruised my knee and cracked my little toe. Hope to have it back on road for Monday...

We had a west-coast snot...(snow)...fall all chained up and going down a snow covered driveway when the truck just broke loose and I was just there for the ride!
There was NOTHING I could do!

But I am absolutely okay! I will even be back to work on Monday. The truck maybe on Tuesday?
