I have been thinking a lot lately about how often I read posts about people feeling unwelcome at their club because of their flying style. These complaints usually come from 3d pilots, planes or helis. I feel really lucky that my club is NOT one of the ones where these types of flying are unwelcome. There are four or five decent 3d pilots at the Remote Possibilities Club that I call home and every one of them will tell you the same thing. Anything goes as long as it is safe and you respect fellow club members.

I am in my second year as a member and have been huckin out there as hard and as often as time permits and have had no complaints from anyone. I have, however, received many encouraging words and an occasional round of applause! It seems like everyone respects and admires fellow club members for the most part and while there are factional disagreements from time to time the place is well maintained by the labor of club members and there is a general feeling of mutual respect and comradrie. I feel really lucky to be part of such a fine club!

HI guys... a few weeks ago I had a deadstick on my new DLE 35ra. I do not fault the motor... I was running more prop than I should have and I think there was likely an electrical issue with a bec I had inline with my ignition module.

Anyway, the result of the deadstick is chronicled in this short clip.

Last week I had the unfortunate luck to have my motor flame out just after exiting a low hover into a harrier roll. I had basically one roll completed when the motor flamed out with no speed and maybe 15 ft. of altitude. To make matters worse my plane had just passed over the edge of the runway so my unfortunate deadstick was into the dirt. The landing gear caught and ripped out destroying the wheel pants and damaging the under-side of the plane, broken muffler, and tore the wire braid off of the ignition cap.

Tonight I commenced my first efforts at making repairs on the fuse. Earlier today I picked up the motor from a local welding shop where they charged me $20 to add an ounce or so of aluminum to the muffler I am actually grateful for the job they did because they extended the weld past the stressed metal hopefully providing more strength to it.

You can see my progress with repairs in the pics. I made a little bit of progress after the pics in which I was able to completely remove the old landing gear block. It was a pain to remove because a portion of it made a very tight fit in the former and wouldn't come out with debonder. I finally used the cutting dremel bit to get it out. Once I had removed the core of the wood the outside pieces that were debonded came out pretty easy and the former slot is nice and clean. I just hope the new block goes in ok. I have to put it in before repairing the formers because after those repairs are made it won't fit. It's weird how things can be a blessing and a curse at the same time.

Hi all... I decided I might as well go ahead and make my first blog entry. I suppose the best thing to do is give a brief history of my RC experience.

I had always wanted to get into RC airplanes but it had been on the back of my mind for years until a co-worker introduced me to Realflight G3.5. I ended up borrowing it from him and logging close to 100 hours before I had ever gotten close to a real model.

My brother came across a local classified listing where this guy was getting out of the hobby and wanted to unload all his stuff. We paid him $150 and split the spoils in which I got a crashed and rebuilt GP Cap 232 with an OS 46fx glow engine. Included in the mess were several basic 4ch 72 mhz Tx/Rx setups and an old Futaba flight pack. So... I learned to fly on that Cap and crashed it many many times until it flew like a total turd! I ended up giving the airframe away to another guy for him to continue it's abuse

It wasn't long after I got my first plane and had a crack or two at flying it that I found rcgroups.com. waldopepperaxe found me floating around on some thread or other and invited me to the twistaholics thread as a place to hang my hat and learn from many great guys that were happy to help a total noob get started. I must have asked a hundred questions and always got nice repsonses. I owe a lot of what I know to those guys. Another person that has helped me gain probably the most information and knowledge.
