I had allot of v911 spare parts lying around, was really impressed with florida helis conversion and elected to do my version based on the earler 911 chassis. I personally think the earlier landing legs look more to scale, and i had nearly all the parts to hand so why not !
Fitting the canopy took allot of time positioning and checking, the old saying measure twice, cut once....... Initally got it sitting on a bare chassis then trimmed the top to clear the linkages and the bottom to clear the landing gear and battery wires. Used a 1.5mm drill bit with a hand drill tool. Did all the marking out with digital calipers. Trimmed 1 mm off the stepped piece of lower canopy mounts to reduce the stretch out effect.
I've never been overly impressed with the 911's over active tail, i took 22mm !! out of the tail boom after looking at my msrx chassis dimesions. I also trimmed down the tail fin allot to get a better scale appearance and added a tube over the rear spar, again for appearance. Fine tune on the tail fin placement, when right back it was killing the airflow across the tail blade, only evident on FF and trying to execute a tight right turn, it would run out of tail authority. With the fin moved fractionally just clear of the tail rotor swept path problem cured but i need to redo the tail tube for appearances. Final version will be aluminium. Tail swing is really nice now still quick enough without being squirrelly - flies really nicely now

Guys
Q for those in the know.
Yesterday flew with the camera set in 30 fps / wide angle and got nice footage.
Flew today in 60 FPS / narrow field of view and got noticeable vibrations - jello effect.
my mount is nothing flash and I will be adding isolation rubber pads but would have though the higher frame rate would have been better ? maybe not ???
back to 30 fps / wide angle..... for now

40 plus fights mostly with the v913 1500 mah battery pack.
Popped open the motor can, brushes worn clean down to the brush holder. They could easily fit brushes of double the width given the length of the armature.....
Gone with the F45 main with 10 t pinion, test flight tomorrow, had to dial in some tail motor trim to hold the extra torque off the gruntier main motor.

Fitted up the mobius using the wl camera bracket, looks neat and tidy. Added a safety lanyard just in case..... Test flight tomorrow. Next step will be a high density anti vibe foam rubber layer betwen the two mountings to dampen vibs. Battery low voltage alarm tucked up into the gap in the rear of the canopy, works nicely.

added the GWS props for the V929 / 949, however it seems WL changed the drive shaft size on the later V959 / V22 to a larger diameter and longer.
Need to drill the GWS props to 3.9mm, not exactly a common drill size, worked my way up using 128th sizes to get close. Drilled right throughteh end of the prop shaft to get the right setting length, the prop shaft sets the slearance to the top bearing.
Good tight press fit so no need for the prop screws as per standard, they are moving in a hurry.......
props needed a balance with tape to get them right, well off as delivered.
performance is superb, way better acceleration and throttle response, and superb visibly even at very long distance, 100m away, pitch her up and see which blades show so you know which way around it is.......
prop do bend easier than the stockers (which are pretty tough)
would be good if GWS did a prop set to suit the new shaft size - length given this is the new setup going forward.......

well it finally happened, my main motor lost power today...... worn out brushes I guess...... estimate around 50 flights and lots of multiple battery sessions so what the heck........
so out with the stocker and in with the F45 unit. Bolts straight up, the 10 t pinion seems to mesh and run fine on the main wheel in lieu of the stockers 9t.
Motor casing cooling holes are on the sides rather than fore - aft, and placed fractionally higher so clears the heat sink better. motor is heavier than the stocker as well. Motor engages at lower throttle setting than the stocker and churns out some serious thrust.
20 minute min throttle / motor out of chassis dry break in, hope this one lasts a bit longer, even if it doesn't who cares they are cheap as.....
Whilst I was in there I swapped in Flying boats super servos, holy smoke do these have some serious travel, had to notch the RHS chassis plate to clear the swash ball linkage arm on full down travel, holy smoke do these move ALONG way.........
now just need to add the short flybar as per Vincent's recommendations and hopefully more control and less crashing !
got a set of superskids coming as well..... hopefully the wider stance will be better for landing on grass......... and carrying the mobious cam
CF tail / F45 tail motor next job on the list

Ran 6 batt packs through the 262 today, cooling fins work brilliant even with three back to back flights the motors where barely warm.
With the 1000mah v912 battery a solid 9 minutes of FFF
Fitted up a blue canopy LED. Piggy backed into one of the boom arm LED wiring lines, works brilliant with the blue alien canopy
My mobious is on back order from BG...... Tried the v959 vid camera, didn't expect much but actually not bad. Vid is affected by high frequency vibration it seems, with out motors running the vid is reasonable (only 480 lines resolution). Camera is solid screwed to the mounting frame, removed the 4 screws and inserted a double layer of self adhesive velcro and a layer of electric tape . Camera is now isolated from the chassis, will see if this helps...... Cant wait to get the mobious on.

Helios flybar, way more energetic flight envelope thats for sure
http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Be...4-p-49228.html
" c" section blade end reinforcements stop splitting of the blade ends. Folded out of electrical crimp wiring connectors then trimmed to size with a dremel.
Important to weight and match the weight 0.02 grams difference made the head vibe really bad......
swapped out the stock swash plate for the upgraded unit with the bronze "fish eye" bearing. BIG improvement.

or order the following and get the CF drive shaft as well, another great upgrade.

Sure looks nice on the website but somewhat disappointed in first person ?
Yes it is beautifully made, but it’s simply to small, this unit could be two to two and half times as long and get allot more heat sink area around the motor brush zone for better heat extraction.
Disappointed……….
Kiwis rating: Well made, but should be taller and maybe bigger fins as well……….

The stock battery is pretty weenie at 150mah and flight time is frankly to short at 4 minutes…….
The mCP-x skid and battery fits nicely, and along with an Xtreme battery conversion lead it’s a plug n play to swap out of the weenie 150mah and go with the mCP-x 300 mah battery.
Decent increase in flight time, easy 7 minutes and balance is good.
The mCP-x skid mounting lugs are a fraction smaller diameter, touch the top with a hot soldering iron to expand the lug edge a fraction = tight snug fit. The stock mCP-x skid is only a couple of bucks………
Get a second Xtreme battery cable and you can reuse the stock battery charger, but in reality most people go with a decent balance changer, I used Extremes three battery balance charger conversion cable.

My mobius is on "back order" at BG. So on with the camera off the v959. All plug n play
V959 landing legs look good too

Xtreme composite blade grip
Ventured into outdoor flying of this psychotic little heli, it’s way more at home and flies like a demon, fast and stable, seems to me this is where it best so you can stretch it’s very fast flight envelope. But it also crashes faster and harder……….
The main blade grip is made of very soft plastic and the blade fixing screw strips out of the grip mount super easy, and the top blade grip then bends upwards and it flies like a very demented ant on steroids.………
Xtreme make a very nice replacement blade grip, complete with improved fixing hardware and is a SIGNIFICANT durability improvement and way lighter than the billet alloy alternatives. Do yourself a favour and get one installed from day one………
There are two very small mount pin bushes, follow the instructions, they only go one way around and clip into the lower grip plate, very nice detail. Top plate is positively beefy compared to the weenie stocker. No more striped out and bent up blade grips
