Last week Joonas from fpv.w t f team released some info on Twitter on what we believe is the origins of the DJI digital FPV system chipset known as the P1 and what Waslksnail may be using in the Avatar system and today I wanted to expand on that.

There has been a massive amount of conjecture and speculation over the Avatar system and if it is actually DJI, based on DJI chipset or just something similar. To understand this more we have to look at DJI first and the chipsets they have used over the years from Leadcore, Artosyn and others.


Leadcore

To start we first have to understand who and what Leadcore is, the company was a fabless chipset design house that was a subsidiary of Datang Telecom Technology Co., Ltd, who in themselves was a subsidiary of the partly Chinese state-owned "China Academy of Telecommunications Technology”. Leadcore’s main business was the development of application processors and IP for mobile devices. In 2014 they were the sixth-largest supplier of smartphone SOC in China. Its LC1860 chipset was widely used in devices across China.

Leadcore appears to have somewhat vanished in 2018 when its parent company Datang Telecom Technology was apparently having financial difficulties and faced being delisted from the Shanghai Stock Exchange. However their chipsets are still used today in many drones from Autel and their IP lives on in other chipsets.

Saturday I was privileged to be able to spend over an hour talking with and interviewing Carl Zhou about Divimath and HDZero on Skype. In this interview we discussed a massive amount from the chipset setup on the system to the plans for the future. The full interview is over an hour and will be published in the coming week ( Now Added) As it contains so much great info I am also going be break it down into clips as well so people can digest it that way to as you can’t swallow an Elephant whole .

Today I wanted to share some specific clips where Carl talks about his announcement on Open Sourcing parts of the HDZero system as well as Carl addressing some of the comments being made by other manufactures such as IRC and Orqa on HDZero making its own hardware hurting it’s partners and it not being really open source. We also discuss the Dealer margins noise that came up a few weeks back and the support he gets from guys that beta test, help and support Carl and HDZero.

There will be more clips with many aspects including the cost of a Tape Out of HDZero Silicon, the HDZero Goggles and how the antenna setup works on the new base band chipset. There is even a discussion on the next version and what Carls goals are for that in the long term future
