With the Cortina still hot from the covering iron and unflown I was thinking about the next project.

I have quite a few unbuilt kits squirelled away and the next build was going to be either a Multiplex Astra or Aeronaut A-10 but...!

Browsing the small ads recently I saw a glider kit in a very long box, could it be? Yep, a Multiplex Akro, completely untouched. A 240 mile round trip with a misbehaving car (limp mode) had it home, tired but very happy.

I've bought a lot of kits over the years and this one is a gem, completely untouched, no rust on the instruction staples/pages (dry storage), all bags sealed, wing foam beds taped, even the box is in good condition.

Although it is a collector's item I'm going to commit sacrilege and build it!

Last week I joined the Fellowship of Christian Modelers. These guys are serious about their faith in Jesus as well as modeling. They do devotions at places like Joe Nall and other major events. I joined their prayer team. They participate in competitions, too.

There’s no fee, but if you make a $20 donation or more you can get a hat or t-shirt. Check them out!

Yep Les Amis,

a year ago i bought a 1m epp foam glider from banggood, with some bizarre fantasy that i could construct a very light weight dlg utilising the wing and a bit of reinforcement

it took a few months for the wing to adjust to reasonably straight under some well applied weights, and not much longer to appreciate that there was no way this wing would survive a hefty throw to get to any altitude worth gliding, without adding enough reinforcement that the weight would make it a poor glider, plus the airfoil is a bit thick at 13% for that purpose, but probably pretty acceptable for simply gliding slowly

i toyed with the idea of making a nerf slope soarer using all the bits, but the fin is still not straight after all this time, and i am not a great fan of slope stuff really

can it really be almost 4 years ago that i made the frankenplane ? i learned a lot from that project, but mostly that big and heavy gliding things thermal well once you get them a few hundred feet in the air to where the big lift is, but also that years of flying the binary has made me rather enjoy the hunt for really iffy lift low down, and catching the nascent boomer from near the ground

so, to get that opportunity with the wing, it would need to either bungee (not with that wing structure), or preferably get hoisted by a pretty tiny motor

my last project using the same running gear (but bigger servos) was the canary - but it was a bit like the frankenplane in that the weight made it climb...Continue Reading

XK A160 thrust test (0 min 42 sec)

Video = Simple thrust test !
Model weighs 172 grams RTF
Current = 4.3 amps
Prop was well balanced .

Binding to the KN protocol was easy .
Usually rates are on CH5 , but I see nothing with the Taranis .
CH8 is the gyro ..
I really hate the rudder mix being built into the control board .
The rudder on the XK A160 behaves too much like the rudder on the XK A600 ( PITA and cause of crashing )
I moved the control rod on the servo arm to the inner most hole to minimise rudder .
@ 172 grams RTF , we dont have 1:1 power to weight , falls a little short . Plenty for flying , but not that magic 1:1
4.3 amp current draw ? What is the ESC ? ( 6A? )
If the ESC is 6A then there is room for more prop to try for 1:1 or ever so slightly better power to weight .
Motor: 1406 brushless motor but we are not told the KV .
I would guess the KV might be on the lower side .

6G 3D >

Well , all throws are minimal except for the rudder ( more later ) in 6G mode .
In 3D mode the rudder and elevator dont change ( on my Taranis ) but you get massive amounts of Aileron .
I moved the control rod on the elevator to the middle hole for a little more throw . ( Plan to 50% expo it for the maiden )

Rudder > Unfortunately behaves like the XK A600 rudder . A very small touch on the gimbals can give you massive amounts of rudder . So if you play with the throttle a lot , you may accidentally rudder yourself into the ground !...Continue Reading

Guys,

For those that remember Grand Wing Servo (GWS) RC Airplane Models!

Okay, it has been just too long (Almost 4 long years!) since I have flown! This model is 2004 vintage and given to me by a very close friend that left my area.

Got the GWS Beaver down from hanging and went through it and found a couple of items that needed attention.

1. Elevator Push Rod was discovered to be very thin and on UP Elevator commanding the wire was observed to bend something terrible.
2. Since I took OFF the wing assembly to obverse (item 1.), I noticed that the wing MID-SPAN JOINER lacked any glue.

I solved item (1.) by replacing the Elevator Push Rod with a thicker and yes, slightly heaver Elevator Push Rod that didn't deflect any!

Additionally, the Elevator Plastic Clevis is a threaded on the thicker Elevator Push Rod so, adjustment are easy and the use of Fuel Tubing was used to secure the Clevis into the Elevator horn.

I am very pleased that the Elevator now provides very good amount of UP Elevator and it is no wonder that I had to prepare before time for flair on final as the thinner (Former) Elevator push rod wire was bending something terrible.

I am excited to fly this model again!

I have ordered some new 2-Cell, 800mAH batteries, 35C for it and can't wait!

I found this beautiful hidden spot accidentally, when I was driving back home from work. It is great place, you are there alone, no traffic or city noise, just sound of nature.
Next time I brought my drone and did some cruising flying through trees and up to the sky to see new horizons.
How do you like it?

These wonderful beings who outstripped all other races in THE QUEST OF KNOWLEDGE, and incidentally overlooked the need for SPIRITUAL ADVANCEMENT in themselves.

James Churchward : The Great Ruler of the Earth , exists no longer, she was shaken up and down by earthquakes in various places. The land rolled like ocean swells.

Finally, the Pillars that supported her gave way. She then sank into a fiery abyss.

As the Great Ruler went down, flames from the fires of the underneath arose and enveloped her. The waters rolled in over her sunken form ..

Pillars (عماد) were supporting Mu, a lost continent in the Pacific Ocean? .. An absurd story, that is not based on facts! ..

However it must be admitted that the allegory is funny! .. Because Pillars allegorize Haughtiness (الطول) stemming from (improper pride) owing to (Arrogance and Aufgeblasenheit) ..

Vgl. mit. Hrothgar's Hall and Iram of the Pillars ..
