Check out the new Eachine F14 RatingKing 1/14 4x4 FPV Buggy! Eachine has been making FPV quadcopters for quite a while now, but this new buggy marks their first foray into land based FPV rigs.

My RatingKing just arrived today, and while I haven't gotten much of a chance to do anything with it just yet, I did get a couple pictures to get this mini review started. The first thing I noticed about the buggy is that it has a nice quality look, and feel to it. The second thing that jumped out at me is just how wrong I think they got the scale. They call it 1/14, but if you ask me it is closer to 1/12, and might even be on the large side of the 1/12 scale. Here are a few pics of it next to my 1/14 Tacon Soar buggy. The RatingKing dwarfs it!

Quick test run in the driveway. This buggy is a blast! The FPV gear performs perfectly. The suspension is also tuned very well right out of the box. Even the included action cam delivers a decent picture (video from the onboard cam coming soon)

Plowed the 230s into the ground during a hurricane. Broke the tail clean off. Been doing fixes with gorilla glue on most crashes but not this time. Frame broke in several places. Can't see it in the picture but along with tail box, there's a big crack on the left side as well. Not really an expensive fix but it's going to be a bitch! Pretty much have to take everything out and redo all the wiring with these half shell plastic designs. To add insult to injury, it's held by a bunch of tiny, soft metal, self tapping phillips screws!

Just finished painting the top of my V4 FJU.
Gone for a nice bright red and yellow scheme this time. Yellow is a really good color toof include for visibility I have found. Wanted to try out the red too, hense what I've done here.

Shall probably be sticking a 36mm MEGA 22/50 1EE 100K motor in this one along with a Castle edge 200 lite with a 6s 4500 or 5000mah high C lipo.

Should be 200mph capable plane, maybe slightly more depending on airframe drag/trim etc and prop choice.

Sweet....
Shall take my time on this one to get it as perfect as I can

This is the 3S Conversion Maiden Flight of my Eflite UMX F4F Wildcat.

Eflite UMX F4F Wildcat 3S Conversion Maiden Flight (5 min 31 sec)

The Conversion process is very simple, but will require 2 (or 3) components to complete the 3S Conversion:

1) Eflite BL180 2300Kv Brushless Outrunner (EFLUM180BL): https://www.amazon.com/Flite-BL180-B.../dp/B00406LZR2

2) Hyperion 3S 240mAh Babbelbatt Lipo - Can be purchased at RCBabbel: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...31-BabbelBatts

3) (Optional Part) - Small Parts CNC Aluminum UMX Propeller Adapter: http://smallpartscnc.com/index.php?r...product_id=167

PROCESS:

The stock BL180 3000Kv Motor is easily removed by unscrewing the single set screw and disconnecting the power cable.

At this point, carefully remove the Foam Prop Spinner from the 120mm x 70mm 3-Blade Prop by scoring around the base of the Prop Spinner with a sharp Xacto knife. Then remove the 120mm x 70mm 3-Blade Prop from the Prop Adapter holding the Eflite BL180 3000Kv Motor by unscrewing the Prop Screw that is holding the Prop and stock Prop Adapter together.

Install the new Eflite BL180 2300Kv Motor in reverse order, along with the Prop Adapter (plastic or aluminum) installed.

Then re-attach the 120mm x 70mm 3-Blade Prop to the Prop Adapter and secure it with the Prop Screw.

Re-glue the stock Prop Spinner with a light drop of Foam Safe CA or Rubber Cement. Make sure the Prop Spinner is centered and rotates evenly.

Make...Continue Reading

I haven't been upgrading my computer for last few years but as I've been doing more Image processing, I found myself needing more processing power with multiple GPU. The only thing was that my pocket book would allow me to purchase much of an upgrade over what I already had. (i5-3570k based ) Recently, I've been seeing used Xeon Processors for low price on Ebay. Xeon E5-2650 is sandy bridge CPU with 8 core and 16 thread running at 2.0ghz (upto 2.8ghz turbo) and I found one on sale for 25 bucks shipped. I've also recently picked up an E5-2670 for 70bucks shipped. basically going from 2.4ghz to 3.0 ghz with all the cores (3.3ghz with single core) cheap 20% performance upgrade!

These Xeons are lifecycled out of server farms, but they have been ran conservatively and have lot of life left in them. They also uses DDR3 Registered ECC Ram, which are also available used. The only problem is that these processor requires certain motherboard. I have found new motherboard with X79 chipset , but they were 160 bucks or so. Because I wanted to run at least 2 or 3 GPU, I could not use pre owned server motherboard which are about 100 bucks with First gen E5 xeon, you couldn't run X99 board (which can only run with 3rd gen I believe)

After some careful research, I ran across used HP workstation that could run E5 chipset. HP Z420, Z620 and Z820 were originally sold as high end...Continue Reading

Drones in Visual Journalism. The New York Times staff photographer Josh Haner was an early adopter of drone photography. His earliest forays were with a $60 gadget that he maneuvered around his living room. Since then, he has aimed ever higher, making videos and stills high above the Gobi Desert and the Marshall Islands. He has embraced the technology in ways that add a stunning dimension to his storytelling, while at the same time presenting unforeseen challenges. His conversation with James Estrin has been edited for length and clarity.

Hello RC Maniacs!!

Please check out our latest unboxing.
We are featuring the Traxxas E-Revo Brushless Edition.

Traxxas E Revo Brushless Unboxing | Buy Now Pay Later at RCHOBBYPRO.COM (2 min 47 sec)

Built For Brushless
We built the E-Revo for brushless power right from the start. For other companies, brushless-ready means just making some nominal provisions for battery and motor installation and letting the aftermarket develop the upgrades necessary to make it survive. Not Traxxas. We heard the call for more power, so E-Revo was tested tough for durability with brutal 6S LiPo power and intense custom-wound brushless motors. For the uninitiated, this extreme 65+mph motor monster truck is ordinarily a predictable recipe for a box full of twisted and mangled parts. Not so with the Traxxas E-Revo Brushless Edition. E-Revo's driveline has been engineered to endure the kind of horsepower and punishment that's possible with today's motor and battery technology. It looks factory because it is factory, complete with a separate motor plate for clean, low-slung single motor installation. E-Revo Brushless Edition includes Power Cell NiMH batteries for Ready-To-Race fun right out of the box, and is ready for your choice of Power Cell LiPos no modifications needed.

You can purchase the Traxxas E-Revo at Rc Hobby Pro. We offer Buy Now Pay Later payment option on all of our Rc Vehicles.

KingKong 210GT RTF Unboxing (9 min 10 sec)

This is one sexy drone. The red and carbon fiber make it look like a Ferrari. For an RTF at this price it comes with good components and appears that it would make a great starter drone. It's running 20amp Blheli Opto ESCs, a 600mw VTX, 700TVL f/2.8 IR blocked camera, an F3 flight controller and has 2205 2300kv brushless motors. So I have high hopes for it. I'll be getting it out for a first flight very soon. Specs are below.
