I've been following the Cargo twin thread since it started last October and drooling over the videos that are posted there.
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1124466
This plane is simple yet has a very high fun factor.
So I started building one myself. It is made, so far, with stuff that I had left over from other projects. I salvaged an old standard size servo from the scrap bin, changed the old G connector to a J connector and will use that for my rudder pull-pull system. Wingspan will be 78" and fuselage length is 61"
It will be powered by 2 2212-10 motors swinging 8x4 APC SF props.
Weight so far is only 2 lb, 3.5 oz. It should be a real floater empty and be able to lift and drop dozens of sky divers.

follow this thread for further updates as progress continues.

With the successful flights of the Hangar 9 Twin Otter I built for my friend Rolando, he gave me another new project to build for him. This time its not going to be electric though. He looked into electrifying this plane, but decided it would take too many batteries to make it fly well.

I am just getting started on it. I like to install the landing gear first so I have a stable platform to assemble to.

There is a great article on this plane in the June 2010 issue of FlyRC magazine.
There is also a good video on Great Planes' web site: http://www.greatplanes.com/performan.../gpma1421.html

So far the only build issue I have found is that the wheel axles were too long and interfered with the wheel pants installation. A Dremel cut off wheel took care of that problem. I will post more build pictures here as it progresses.

Just got these pictures from last weekend from bettsmums. I was having fun looping and rolling my old Wingo around the sky with a Mammoth smoke bomb attached to the bottom. Yes, that is Wyle E. Coyote on the front hanging on for dear life. Guess that old road runner is gonna get away again.

Yesterday I found where my local Hobbytown U.S.A. posted a $10 off Father's Day coupon on their Facebook page. So I printed it out and off I went in search of the latest Parkzone offering.
I bought the new SU26xp!

Today I got to fly it out at Jaxrc (.com) Even in up to 12mph gusty winds it was incredible. I centered up the surfaces and pushed the throttle to full. With a 6" takeoff roll it was heading skyward. Before it had even reached 30' altitude I was rolling , looping, and hammerheading.

Is there such a thing as too much fun?!!

I finished building Rolo's Hangar 9 Twin Otter this weekend and we took it out to fly today. I am happy to report a successful maiden flight and several more. Rolo even did rolls and loops with it! Here are some pictures of today's success. ...Continue Reading

Just playing with my gumstick cam. I mounted it under my Parkzone Supercub looking straight down. I climbed up to appx 1000 feet altitude. At one point I lost sight of it, but fortunately it just made a circle and flew right back to where I was last looking at it! (Note to self. DO NOT TAKE EYES OFF PLANE WHILE FLYING SO HIGH!)
Look for the other plane flying after about 6 minutes. It is a white Hangar 9, electric 60 size Super Stick. Jacksonville Florida 06-02-2010

If you pause the video at 10:17 you will see me waving at the camera.

I crashed my GWS P-51 today. Not to worry. I will repair it as good or better than new.

Total pilot error on my part. I was getting carried away with the aerobatics, got it into a straight down dive and tried to pull out inverted. When I realized I didn't have enough down elevator to pull out in time I tried to roll back upright and pull out. By that time I had run out of space to pull out upright as well.

Oh well, it will fly again soon. Gotta love foam planes for ease of repair.
