Check out this beautiful giant scale model of the F4U Vought Corsair warbird flying at the Kitchener Flying Dutchmen Airshow on a pretty windy day.

The sparrow has "fit and finish" next to none. Camera angles printed along the vertical pod mounts, antenna tubes, battery mounting gummy, quality HGLRC F4 stack, RunCam Micro Swift 2, powerful 1408 motors and a case. While the Micro Swift 2 features an OSD, I think its a miss to not include the flight controller with an OSD. FC OSD provides very useful flight information we can't get from the camera OSD.

Its powerful and fun to fly. As 3inch models come "en vogue" this should be included in your RTF shopping list.

The big brother to the tiny 6 the Tiny 7 frame is likely more durable and can house larger 7mm motors which will provide more thrust. A really good starter drone for someone in your life. As with many KingKong quads it does not feature an OSD, to me that is a large oversight in the market. The Tiny 7 features a fully programmable flight controller and the ability to use with many micro receivers to fly with your favorite controller.

The Toad 90 is a rare quad in that it doesn't require tuning to fly well. Of course we can tune it to make it fly even better, but as I said, not required. The 5 bladed props make the quad feel like your driving in the air, it tracks very well. But with that many blades the props are very inefficient. If flight time is your goal change the props out with fewer bladed props.

Just in time for Christmas a fun little "toy" quad that emits music as it flies. When the season has passed we can remove the speaker and add an fpv all in one for some fpv fun.

If your looking at SPC Maker products, this is the only one worth purchasing. The others I have reviewed have serious faults that make them either unflyable or require the components to be transferred to another frame. This one too has a slight fault, the vibrations are serious enough to require a looser tune.

I will not be posting the other SPC Maker products to this blog, if your interested in seeing the faults please see my channel http://youtube.com/nickburnsrc

This a Flight Review of the 2S 550 BabbelBatt Lipo Battery in my E-flite UMX Timber STOL RC Plane with AS3X. The battery is much longer than the BabbelBatt 330's I normally use in my UMX RC Planes, but the huge battery bay makes that a non-issue.

The best part of this video is getting to see Mt. Baker with a fresh layer of snow on it in the background in several shots taken by my buddy John.

E-flite UMX Timber STOL RC Plane With AS3X - 2S 550 BabbelBatt Fight Review (5 min 51 sec)

Review Notes:

Pros:
- The bigger battery helps it handle wind even better
- There is plenty of power for all kinds of flying
- Long flight times

Cons:
- None for this battery that I can see at this point

Ok , I bound the XK X6 transmitter to a futaba Rx micro quad ...

A lot of folks might wonder just how you would go about that when the Tx has no bind button .

Apparently the XK transmitters go through a quick bind process when you turn them on .. ( remember this )
So take your Rx , and get it into bind mode .
Then turn on the X6 or X7 transmitter .
As the transmitter boots it will go through its bind process and bind with your Rx .
Turn of the Rx and turn of your X6 / X7 transmitter ..

Now you have to turn on the Rx first , then the Tx just like with a lot of micro quads N stuff ..
If you turn on the Tx first , you will not get a bind . ( Because the Tx needs to go through its bind process on starting )

So there .. ( Hope this helps )

Recently I've been pushing out my limits of my TBS G2 setup. A couple months ago I managed a 3.8km to the top of a stratovolcano here in Chile. Then last week I managed this flight.. 5.2km to the top of a 4000m peak, Volcán Campanario, located on the Argentine-Chile border. Amazingly, this was all flown with Skyzone goggles and a VAS Crosshair. I tried with my ImmersionRC Duo5800 v2, but that crapped out after 4.4km.

One Battery: TBS G2 - 5.2km to Volcán Campanario and back. (8 min 16 sec)

Well, funny how two kids, a house, and a job can pull one away. My oldest son just turned 5 and I am starting him up. We got introduced to the Flite Test planes by a friend, and we are starting to build the Squadron up. FPV and drones are also looking amazing with the advances in technology. I am looking forward to some good times with my son and hopefully the rest of the family. RC planes will also hopefully double as his science and technology and aviation courses at some point. I am also working to get his litttle group of friends set up as well. I still remember firing up .049s and the smell and feel of the fuel. That was the coolest thing ever as a 5-7 year old. Also, the plastic Cox control line models, which I wish I still had, we equally as cool and a good way to start out.

93 miles of driving after the stiction fix, it could once again no longer go in a straight line. The next step would be sending more diagnostics to the GUI, in realtime. It may not be seeing the deviation in heading required for it to kick the integral or it may be waiting for a deviation in the wrong direction. After drifting right for a while, it suddenly kicks left. Showing the realtime deviation in heading, what deviation it's waiting for, & the feedback is part of the solution.

Other ideas were adding noise to the feedback, because it seems to knock itself straight when it hits bumps.

The raspberry pi zero W was too good to be true. After integrating 10 of them without any issues, packed one in a static bag & commuted with it. It no longer detected wlan0.

The weather's not conducive to flying this weekend. But I have been building. Some time ago I saw someone elses idea of a Bede/Ez blend. When I had to fix the fan in my TA183 this fall I bought a couple 55mm fans. One fixed the TA183, one went into this BDEZ, the third went into the trash. It is made from blue foam. I decided to try covering in packing tape again. I don't think it was easier than light fiberglass and polyurethane, but it came out ok. Here are a couple of pictures of the BDEZ. I've not flown it yet. Will report the result here. - not good too heavy. I may return to it.

Thought I should also post an image of my third Mile M20. This one files well. It has a 24 inch wing span and a 5oz per square foot wing load. The spinner is more bulbous than it should be, but it balanced well so I'm leaving it that way for now. I went back to the taco shell fuselage to save weight an simplify the build, it worked.

QLRS FW supports E32-TTL-1W and E32-TTL-100 HW + similar 868 modules

Maximum range of this LRS has not been tested yet. You are welcome to be the first who will find this out.
QLRS supposed to provide better range than any other LRS that uses FSK modulation such as OpenLRS, ULRS etc.

Telemetry data is transmitted from UAV to ground station only! There is no full duplex link and it's not expected.

QLRS does not support full mavlink. The mavlink data is "converted" to some internal protocol, sent to the ground, and then mavlink message is resumed there.
Thus, the following messages (correctly the fields) that FC sends to QLRS are interpreted.
Then the same message is generated on the ground and they reach the software that displays the map, etc. etc.

Howdy people

I got an email today from Inch.io with release notes for an updated version of FPV Freerider.. Not a whole lot has changed. The biggest addition is the custom maps.. I do not know if we will see new maps for this feature in the Near future, but at least we get 3 new maps with this new release

I built a better hot wire cutter using a variable voltage/amperage power supply and I've been playing with it....cut these two 70mm nacelles yesterday for a 48" twin fighter bomber I'm working on.....new fuse and feathers..... wing is salvaged from a failed build....but what I discovered this morning was that clear packing tape adheres better and it shrinks when you hit it with a sealing iron set at ~ 3 - 3 1/2.....

For a good hamburger try:

-Ground Beef (70/30) or Ground Chuck (80/20).
-Start with a 2.2 oz. puck of beef and smash into 6-inch circle. Or something like that.
-Use Lawry's Seasoned Salt.
-Consider butter on bun and cheese.

This may produce a burger similar to Steak 'n Shake. I hope. (I have yet to try it)

Yep Les Amis,

Non...
