There has been a bit of interest in how I set up a flight counter on my TX16S radio, so I decided to post a how-to here.


Ok, so here is my setup on the Tundra for displaying Number of Flights on the Main screen. I have it displayed on the left side of the Top Bar. It is designed to update automatically for each flight. It is triggered after the throttle runs higher than 25% for a duration of 15 seconds. (This time period can be adjusted to what ever you want)



So, how it works is this:

We start by setting up GV1 (in Global Variables) as the counter. Simply replace the "0" with the current number of flights on your model (as a starting point). You can also name this line (I chose "Flt").



Next, we make two Logical Switches. I used L05 and L06.

L05 turns on when the throttle has been running at >25% for 15 seconds AND the throttle safety switch is off. This ensures that it is actually flying and not just the throttle stick bumped off zero.

L06 is the actual trigger for the Flight Counter. As soon as L05 lights, L06 will light and stay lit until the Throttle Safety Switch is returned to the SAFE position (hence the STICKY). Having the counter triggered by this ensures that it only counts once per flight. (If we just relied on L05 for the counter, it may turn on and off any number of times throughout a flight if we reduced throttle below 25%.)

Recently, a friend asked me to set up two FrSky S6R receivers for him. He wanted them updated to the latest firmware and set up for use in a basic 4-channel fixed wing aircraft, with channels 5 and 6 in Aux mode. I decided to document the process I used to set up these receivers. I understand many Taranis owners prefer to use the Taranis radio and Lua script to update their receivers, as the process is simpler. I do not have a Taranis, so using the STK was the method I chose.

Although the following information has been covered numerous times, there still seems to be pilots struggling with the process. I hope this helps.
