Another furloughed project from my loft.

Welcome, Letís start by telling the story. Way back in the late 70ís my then club mates and I were into flat field soaring (pre electric days) at Cranford Park west London. My then club was the Hayes & District Model Aero Club.

Back then throughout the summer, Wednesday night was always club comp night with trophies at the end of the year. Typical comps would be a, 6 minute duration comp with a spot landing, and 100ís comps

This is where the Sailman comes in to the story. My mate Matt built and competed with his Simple Sailman & would regally win or be well placed in the comps, some times against far more sophisticated models (not mine I hasten to add). As I remember Matt did have one little trick up his sleeve, as the wing tips are removable he built a selection of differing lengths to suit the comp. Anyhow at the end of year Matt typically would take home some of the clubs silver ware.

Roll on many decades to September last year. Itís my current clubs annual E-fly event and arrive one of my old club mattes from back in the day, we will call him Andy T to protect his identity! Andy had been very impressed with Mattís model back in the days, so had splashed out on a kit of his own. Andy had made a start on the kit assembling the fuselage side panels, before life got in the way & eventually the kit ended up in the loft where it had stayed.

Andy been having a clearer out of his loft and rationalising his...Continue Reading

The Weak Signal show is not a show I would normally go to, manly as I live the UK. It's a bit of a trek for Me!, London to Chicago, Chicago to Detroit & then a drive from Detroit to Toledo.

But on this occasion I had a special reason for attending, as sitting behind the Retro RC stand was a model kit with my name on it....Continue Reading
