I've been fooling around with this project for a while. Finally got it close to completion. I vacuum formed a 1/18 diecast 40 Ford. The shape of the car allows you to vacuum form quite easily. I painted it satin black. I think it would benefit from some sponsor decals too.

The chassis is 1/4" ply and the motor is taken from a Family Dollar toy car. The steering was tricky to fabricate and should really be soldered instead of epoxied. It's plenty strong enough for indoor use though.

It runs very nicely on laminate floor but the motor gets hot. I only run it for 5-10 minutes at a time. I guess it doesn't matter if the $5 motor burns up!

I just started working on a V-drive drag boat build. It's loosely based on a Glen L Missile. So far the build is going well, considering I'm not using a building frame/ jig.

Ideally, I'd put a dummy V8 in the back but the boat is only 22" and a little small for the 1/6th engines I see on ebay. Any suggestions? I've done about six hours, excluding design time.

I finally got my cabin cruiser running this evening, although it's looking more and more like a sport fisher. It ran surprisingly fast with just twin 380 motors and 2 x 1000mah nanos. Very pleased with the results The twin motors even sound nice together!

Anyone ever made a scale Carolina Skiff? I think it could be a nice quick build with potential for some cool features like tilt/trim, running lights, console, graphics etc.

Running a stock Aquacraft EP1 off a 7.4v Turnigy 2 cell. Great performance but the outboard is so HEAVY! Unfortunately, I completed the boat build before figuring out the motor and battery position. As you can see it's kind of heavy in the rear. Still great fun though. Requires some skill to keep it the right way up. It torque rolls really badly. Any suggestions for a lighter 1:1 geared outboard? Photographed at my local swimming spot in Key Largo. Fortunately, no crocodiles this day!

I'm building a simple and cheap cabin cruiser. I basically redrew the plans for a Dumas Half Pint (after abandoning their sloppy kit) and modified it a little. It's 21" and needs some power. I made the keel a bit too large for a central prop shaft. Does anyone have any recommendations for twin brushed motors and hardware on a budget? Currently 8 hours into the build and want to be on the water soon. Please help!
