I took the A-10 out today after work only to get to the field and have a wicked crosswind that was gusting pretty bad. I wanted to fly it with the new landing gear, but I just didn't want to fight the crosswind on it's first flight with legs. I did get to fly my Katana and Stick, so the day wasn't a total lose.

I'll try flying the A-10 tomorrow.

I tried two props on my AXI 4120/14 motor that's mounted on my A-10. Here are the numbers of each prop and some pictures. As you can see from the picture, I was using a 5S 3300 mah FP lipo.

12x6 Prop - 40 Amps - 697 Watts
13x6.5 Prop - 50 Amps - 852 Watts

This will be enough to fly the A-10 at it's current AUW of 8 lbs, but if I'm to paint it and finish the details, hopefully that won't add but a pound or two. I'm going to try and fly it next weekend, so we'll see if she flys any better.

I finally got the retracts installed on my A-10 so I could make sure there is going to be enough clearance for a 12" to 13" prop. Good news, there is more then enough room for the prop. I won't be able to rotate aggressively, but I don’t think there is going to be enough power to do that anyway. There is going to be around 3 to 4 inches between the prop tip and the ground. There shouldn’t be an issue with prop strikes if I stick to scale takeoffs.

While I had the A-10 fully assembled, I went ahead and added the batteries and took some photos of it. I also weighed it with everything new installed and its battery installed. As you can see below, she’s gained some weight and tops the scales at just a tad over 8 pounds. Not to bad, but I’d like to keep it under 10 pounds or it’s going to need another motor upgrade.
