Picked up a GWS A10 kit recently, let’s get this build started!

Our 1st & only view of the inside of the interstage. It probably would have cost a few thou from the BFR budget to put a roof on it or strip out all the guts, so Musk said forget it. They did strip out the pushrod that ejects the 2nd stage & hastily strung an extension cord to a warning light. The extension cord had a little left over. 2 wires in mid air appear to be additions. They could be a radio antenna used by someone else. What are the chances of retired Falcon 9's being sold as cell phone towers?

You can see everything mounted directly on the convex top of the LOX tank. Not content with plain old rods, they used horn shaped rods. It must be the most weight optimized way to transfer torque from a narrow diameter to a wide diameter.

There's a triangular enclosure which could only be a triple redundant brain box, where the 3 computers are mounted symmetrically. All the software flying the 1st stage & the IMU are probably in that box, all calibrated for its orientation on the LOX tank. We also see what could only be the nitrogen thruster tank & the pesky hydraulic fluid tank. Surprising such a small tank is all the nitrogen it takes to fly it back. There's no effort to balance it by mounting the tanks symmetrically.

The torque rods are already looking a bit rusted. The guy obviously doesn't know a 4k copy of the video is stored on the quad copter, but barely knows enough to hit send on an instagram app to upload low res telemetry.

I purchased a Mi drone and flew it for 2 minutes before it fell from the sky which distorted gimbal. I sent flight log to Xiaomi and they said the reason for the crash was that the battery disconnected. I am thinking about buying a new gimbal and securing battery so it doesn’t disconnect again. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

This is review for the SJ-RG01 FPV goggle courtesy of HobbyCool. Initial thought is that it's a really nice goggle and not too heavy. I prefer box goggles over the FatShark type. I've tried FatShark Dom V3 and never could get it to fit just right. The RG01 is kinda in between and so far it has fit my face perfectly. I received the unit through Amazon and got it within a few days...

1. Price is just right at $79.90 from HobbyCool directly or $99.90 from Amazon.

2. Package comes with 2 rubber ducky antenna, charging cable (DC 6-28V), video/audio cable, nose foam and instruction manual.

3. The size of the goggle is between an Eachine VR600 and an Eachine EV800D. This has better fitment on my oblong face then either Eachine except for some very small light leakage in the nose area. This can be fix with the included foam.

Update to Engine Roon Hatch print. After 33 hours and 20 minutes the print finished about 9:30 this morning. I started a print of other engine hatch components and cleaned up all the supports from the hatch frame. I’ll add a picture of the cleaned up hatch frame later today.

It's been some time that I got that exited about some new "hardware"... but it's time to retire the OmniBusF4Pro as my goto iNav Flight Controller... it's not a bad one with it's onboard current sensor and osd... but the lack of "easy" 6 PWM outputs and not enough UARTs to get crazy... (BT+GPS+Mag+AirSpeed+vTx) kind of sad... that's why it's time for this new bad boy!

The new Matek F405-WING Flight Controller promises to give us (I think) everything you could ask for in a Wing FC
(in shot, lots of PWM outputs... and lots of UARTs... while still having the current sensor...)

FC Specifications
  • MCU: 168MHz STM32F405
  • IMU: MPU6000 accelerometer/gyro (SPI)
  • Baro: BMP280 (I2C)
  • OSD: INAV OSD w/ AT7456E chip
  • Blackbox: MicroSD card slot (SD/SDHC)
  • VCP, & 6x UARTs
  • 2x Motors, 7x Servos outputs
  • 2x I2C
  • 3x LEDs for FC STATUS (Blue, Red) and 3.3V indicator(Red)
  • Built in inverter for SBUS input (UART2-RX)
  • PPM/UART Shared: UART2-RX
  • SoftSerial on TX2 pad
  • Battery Voltage Sensor: 1:10 (Scale 1100)
  • WS2812 Led Strip : Yes
  • Beeper : Yes
  • RSSI: Yes

FC Firmware
  • INAV Flight
  • Target: MATEKF405SE

  • Input voltage range: 9~30V (3~6S LiPo) w/TVS protection
    2x ESC power pads
    Current Senor: 104A, 3.3V ADC, Scale 317
BEC 5V output
  • Designed for Flight controller, Receiver, OSD, Camera, Buzzer, 2812 LED_Strip, Buzzer, GPS module, AirSpeed
    Continuous current: 2 Amps, Max.3A
BEC 9V /12V output
  • Designed for Video Transmitter, Camera, Gimbal ect.
    Continuous current: 2 Amps, Max.3A

One of my favorite flyer is the VQ250 V1 (VectorQuad) that I built a while back and because I don't fly FPV, it's just too small to fly it LOS. So , I decided using it's components to build a larger platform to better see it LOS flying.

Original VQ250 V1 dimension:
Rear motor to Front - 6 inches
Motor 1 to 2 - 8 inches

Modified Platform:
Rear motor to Front - 10.5 inches
Motor 1 to 2 -10.5 inches

Here are three projects I did in parallel, the UFO Invader was themed on the old Centuri rocket kit, the Fireball XL-5 was as close as I could get while still having a decent glider and the Maurader is a top intake cruise missile styled model. All are around 10.5-12.5 oz rtf, use 2.6" tubing, and MPF and are 20" wingspans and 32-33" long.

Yep Les Amis,
