Using data from 117 countries, population and IQ have an almost perfect inverse relation as seen in the correlation coefficient.
The rate of population increase is irrelevant, any increase is sufficient.

Regardless of the cause, as long as population continues to increase, IQ will decrease.

As everyone on the planet knows, its stay at home and stop the spread . And because I work on restoring a PBY Catalina which we have had to stop working on ,I was asked to restore the association model . I decided that it should be restored to a museum standard with a full metal jacket
for display with the full size when we complete it . I just wish it was as easy to work on the full size as it is the model . Photo's posted in no particular order of...Continue Reading

This is the 3rd and final installment in the Eflite Rare Bear series. The stock 8x8 prop has been swapped out for the more aggressive APC 9x9E prop and has been dynamically balanced, along with the spinner for an ultra fine throttle-up. Bench testing with a fully charged Admiral 4S 3000mAh 35C lipo yielded 68.9 max static amps with 1045 watts power - Great stats and within the "rated parameters" for the stock internals.

Eflite Rare Bear 880mm BNF Basic w/AS3X 4S Flight with APC 9x9E Propeller (4 min 24 sec)

My whole intent for this upgrade was to maximize the performance of the Rare Bear while keeping the AUW (All Up Weight) down as much as possible, for the ease of hand launch, as well as minimizing the amount of weight "momentum" it carries on landing approaches. With my APC 9x9E prop setup, the Rare Bear has significantly increased its power output and speed - hand launches are much easier, it can now clear the diagonal length of the double-wide lacrosse fields we fly at in under 3 seconds (formerly 3.5 seconds with the stock 8x8 prop), and has better slower landing characteristics on approach. All this for a $2.18 prop.. And all within spec.

With that said, I will be clear in saying that I have NO desire to go 5 or 6S - why spend more money on batts that I don't even own, just to increase the weight setup and make it a PITA to land on the field.. all for more speed that I don't even need? For $2.18, the APC 9x9E prop was a perfect choice...Continue Reading

Flying 1/2A Control Liner models in the front yard on a beautiful Spring Day.

The planes are two designs from Walt Musciano; a "Big Otto" and "Golden Hawk", that were kitted by Scientific Models through the 1950's and 60's. Big Otto is powered by a Cox "Black Widow" .049, and the Golden Hawk's engine is a 1950's Cox "Space Bug" .049.

The third is a "Beginner's Ringmaster", and is powered by a Cox "Golden Bee".049.

The little Ringmaster is built from free plans that are available in the files section of the Annual Worldwide Ringmaster Fly-A-Thon FB Page

This is GBLynden's Durafly Ugly Stick V2 Electric Sports Model 1100mm RC Plane Maiden Flight Review In Strong Wind.

GBLynden's Durafly Ugly Stick V2 Electric Sports Model 1100mm RC Plane Maiden Flight Review In Wind (6 min 8 sec)

Review Notes for this RC Airplane from Hobby King:

Pros:
- It handles wind very well
- Very nice finish on the paint
- The wood prop looks really cool
- Robust landing gear
- Steerable tail wheel
- This is a four-channel plane for a full experience

Cons:
- The manual was simplified, but left you to your own experience to fill in some of the blanks.
- The battery bay could be better suited for the recommended battery.

Made that bird for a friend of mine , crashed on its maiden flight due to windy air, repaired and flew it again next day.
But my friend crashed it once again.
Again rebuild the wing and flew it successfully, but again a glitch occoured and down again.
I think i should not rebuild it again,
What are the opinions?

Introduction:

Back in 2017 I was feeling tired of fighting my old F450 with DJI motors and APM 2.6 flight controller (If you want to read about it, please check my build log: HERE). Eventually I stripped it completely and I got it working pretty nice, but I always wanted to install the gimbal on a new rig. At that time, Diatone was selling a “TBS-like” drone style call “Diatone White Sheep” (DWS). A really nice glass fiber frame, with the characteristic “TBS look” quadcopter at a fraction of the price.

Long story short, I decided to build a new rig using this frame, together with a brand new pixhawk flight controller, Emax 2216 motors and ESC…. which turn it on a completely failure. The pixhawk did not liked the Emax ESC and I never managed to make it work properly. Even more, after changing the ESC I had innumerous problems to get the flight controller working properly. Despite hours of tuning I never got a correct PID that will make my rig fly nice.

I will include some pictures in this post showing the initial setup, but my rig evolved to a much simpler setup than that, please check the following post for a deep review of my current rig!...Continue Reading

Spent some time today at the compound just testing and tuning. I have a wide range of airframes covering three flight control firmwares.
  • Strix goblin with custom vectored thrust VTOL pods, running ardupilot
  • Strix nano goblin with ardupilot
  • Volantex Ranger 2000 with ardupilot
  • Chameleon LR 6" frame with iNav
  • Lumenier QAV-R2 5" with betaflight

In the past I've never been happy with the "autotune" of ardupilot. I would typically try it, get some values, and then revert and try manual tuning because it felt sloppy. Today I changed the autotune_level parameter from default of 6 to 8. It warns that 8 is for advanced pilots. I have to say I'm extremely pleased with the tune that resulted. In my opinion this is what the tune should have always done. Worked great on my nano goblin and ranger 2000, which are very different platforms. I'd recommend everyone who has a plane that flies in FBWA to try autotune level 8.

iNav... A couple years ago I posted about my experiences with iNav vs ardupilot. Long story short I had inav on my goblin(non vtol) and after several major crash sessions I swapped to ardupilot and haven't gone back. Since inav started as a betaflight fork I decided to build my new chameleon frame with iNav for RTH and arrow home features. There seems to be a major issue with altitude calculation in inav. In the megathread 747TestPilot did a lot of work trying to get altitude to work. I have spent 8 batteries tuning inav, and am also having serious altitude errors. It will swing hundreds of feet in an instant, usually going negative. I'll do another write up with more details but at this point I'm leaning towards flashing ardupilot to see how stable it behaves.

Quick video with the ranger after autotune level 8. It's so locked in I finally felt comfortable skimming tree tops.
