I thought I would share my trick of how to get better contact when soldering Ultra Deans connectors.
First off, I use a decent 40W Weller soldering iron ( I welded the custom stand)
Then I use a tiny drop of this liquid flux....
The wires come pre-tinned and they are fat in diameter...
I take a metal plate and a small mallet and beat the end of the pre-soldered wire flat...
Then solder it and heat shrink it up...
You will find even the heat shrink will fit better...
Instead of just the quadrant of the wire actually touching the Deans connector , this whole big flattened wire contacts.
The pictures should explain it pretty good (Thanks to my wife for the Macro work)...Continue Reading

The Snyder Fighter was born when I gave Lloyd Snyder a Hobby King Motor , ESC and servos and said "Go build a airplane".

A week later he came back with this wing

Yes there are a Hundred other wing builds on RCG's......
But people started asking for plans for THIS one so here we go.....

There will be much more to come in time so check back later.

This plane requires a LOT of expo!

Here is the top view of the wing and elevon.
Those are 1" squares on the drawing....Continue Reading

I'm not a big fan of super clear canopies. I like just a trace of tint so you can see the canopy. Sometimes you'll see a plane with a canopy so clear ,at a distance you cant even see it. That's why I do this.

Years ago I picked up this single burner hot plate at a Yard sale. I use it to keep the water temp high so the dye can do it's deed. You must heat the water!

Hello and Welcome,
I had a full scale Condor 2 ultralight back in 1983. I always wanted to build a model of it, but the technology just wasn't there. Now it is.
But to keep things simple I thought I would use slow stick wings and make it look more like a Kolb.
I'm designing on the fly on the first one and if it flies decent enough I will post up some plans later on. This will be my 2nd plane with an animated pilot. Some of you may have seen my TiggerBat from 2011. Video is posted on down the thread.

On this build I'm going to try and hammer through it to meet a deadline. So the first plane may have some compromises , but bare with me.

Hello and welcome... (EDIT: I would to suggest you read through as much of the thread as you can because some new ideas have come to light and there might even be and updated set of plans further in the thread)

This is a blog for these Foamie Flying Wings that we have been having so much fun with. It's not really anything new. It's just how we do it.

Everyone that see's them fly wants one and this is just to help guide them along through the process of getting one flying. It will save me time in the long run from not having to explain it to so many people.

Dis-Claimer and Credits.
KFC - Chris DeGraaff started bringing wings to SEFF to sell (see HoJazz Videos)
Matt Kloss Dissected his wore out DeGraaff wing, made some changes and built a bunch of them to use for paintball shooting at SEFF 2011. I had volunteered to help out with the event.
I got permission from Chris DeGraaff and Matt to present this build on RCGroups.

I want to keep the blog on point. Feel free to comment, but dont get your itty bitty feelings hurt if I delete a post or 2 to keep things on track.

I know guys will ask for tiled plans. It's not something I'm familiar with at all.
If someone else wants to step up and make that happen... then they can send it to me and I will post it here as well.

Enjoy

I love the Hobby King Turnigy Park 450 1200 KV with a 10 x 4.7 prop.
Matched with the Hobby king Plush 30 Amp ESC

Here is a place to get colored box tape to decorate with. They dont add much weight but they add a lot of strength and look great.
