Review Part 4 - Yak54 Aerobat EPP 800mm Wingspan 3D Plane - Tips, MODs, Setup, Conclusion!

Yak54 Aerobat 800mm Wingspan Kit

Banggood GCRC

Here is a link to the Video:

I'm very impressed with this Kit 3D Plane.
It has a lot of power, is graceful in the air, and a lot of fun to fly.
I highly recommend this Yak54 Aerobat EPP 800mm Wingspan 3D Plane.

***I incorrectly stated in the video that the Linkage Setup I have in place offers the most movement but not the best Mechanical Advantage. That is incorrect, the setup I'm using does not offer the most movement or least Mechanical Advantage, it is a compromise between the two.

Here is a link to the Playlist which also has the Assembly videos:

see parts 1 and 2 at my blog
also there was control-line: you fly the plane attached to 2 thin cables that are connected to a handle, like a pistol grip. you aim higher, the plane climbs. aim lower, it dives. turn and turn. and you had to overcome dizziness.
once you did, then try loops. wing overs. fly inverted (signals are reversed). then more stunts.
there was a competition pattern, where you had a sequence of maneuvers.
there was also combat, where 2 planes flew at same time. there was a streamer attached to the tail, and you aimed to cut it. the closer the more points you got.
and there was speed too.
we had lots of fun.
here, we could control the airplane.
a new experience.

Yep Les Amis,
Cinewhoop Freestyle...

Hey all,

It's been a while since I've posted, got a little rant and or inquiring.
So I purchased some items from banggood over a month ago, during this pandemic I was leery to do so but ebay and amazon stuff I ordered shipped ok,longer than usual but understood.
Banggood has been weird though, items show shipped, tracking numbers don't exist, but they still got paid my over $400 in orders.
I know it's a mess in the world just curious if banggood has cashed out and ran with our money.

Z3-FPV is a first person view flight controller applied on RC aircraft. The important data such as real-time altitude, speed, voltage, posture and distance can be shown on screen with the OSD function in Z3-FPV. The PMU(power management module) that supports 2-6S input can provide real-time data collection of battery voltage and current while providing stable power supply to the flight control, providing indispensable key information for FPV voyage. It can be applied on normal wing, fly-wing, and V-tail airplanes.

It supports five flying modes, when it controls the airplane flying after connected with receiver. The RTH mode can allow the aircraft to return to the take-off point safely under any circumstances. Under normal stability-enhancing mode, the stability of flight can be fully improved. Safe mode allows the aircraft to fly at a fixed altitude and directional stability. Aerobatics mode can lock the flight attitude to meet the aerobatic needs of players. Off mode (manual mode) allows the player to control the aircraft completely autonomously. And it can automatically switch back to the self-driving mode when the remote control signal is lost or out of control, allowing the aircraft to return to the take-off point safely.

Z3-FPV uses the original lever mode to enter the horizontal calibration, the triggering method is simple, no need to connect a computer, more convenient and faster

Halloa RC people

soooo recently I started jet another FPV quadcopter build.. In my video on the frame I posted a list of the components and quite a few people asked why I was using KO Tech motors here.. Partly probably because it is a lesser known brand (?)

The Demon Seed Cryo 2208 1900 KV's :

Dealer list:

Well guess what.. here IS why

Below are some pictures and a youtube video of my Guillow's Super Cub 95 free-flight balsa plane kit - RC conversion.

I used Horizon Hobby/E-Flite ultra micro parts for the electronics, specifically from the UMX Cessna. The plane includes working ailerons, elevator, rudder, flaps, and even a SAFE mode toggle. The flaps do make a difference, even at this size, and allows for some rather slow flight (seen in the video)! 4 servos are used.

Note: The original flight controller on the UMX Cessna is programmed for dual ailerons. I had to make a USB cable to interface with the Spectrum AS3X programming software, to change that. I changed it to support one servo on the ailerons and one servo on the flaps. I also had to tweak it to get the SAFE Select to work as well.

Final all up flying weight: 81 grams including the battery, which was a 2s 7.4v 200mAh pack.

The battery itself weighs about 13 grams. I know the covering job isn't the prettiest, but this is amazingly light for a 6 channel plane!
As a reference, the E-Flite UMX Cessna 182 is about 130 grams in weight.

6 Channels includes Ailerons, Elevator, Rudder, Throttle, Flaps, and SAFE Selection toggle- perfect to buddy box a friend on!

Round two : Using the transmitter that came with the T720 .
A) Flight was much smoother
B) Tx is still rubbish with this model
C) S720 is way too sporty for this Tx to handle

OMP S720 with T720 Tx (7 min 48 sec)

The Dinky Toy transmitter is just not good enough for the S720 . All that dead zone at the centre of the gimbals is just too much . The Tx from the T720 was better than the one bundled with the S720 , but the flight was still complete rubbish . The S720 is just too high performance for such a Trashmitter . I am really hanging out for a 3rd party Rx so I can bind the S720 to the Taranis .

From my personal experience with the S720 , there is no way I would recommend it a a first model or a model for anyone but the experienced . The S720 demands to be BNF or PNP so that a proper hobby grade tx can be used . The garbage tx that the S720 comes with , simply will not give you the flight experience a proper tx will . I am also left wondering about the CG ?

I used a zippy 350 and , is it still a little tail heavy ? or is it just the trashmitter that is so ???? The S720 did hunt up and down and for some reason rolled right all the time . ( Same as the first flight , just not so bad on the 2nd Tx ) The trashmitter simply did not fill me with enough confidence to try out the stunt mode . ( The flight performance in the fully stabilised mode was so terrible ) . The response to gimbals input was so lacking as to be almost laughable .

The first flight , did I give a score of 5 out of 10 , well this 2nd flight simply backs up my first opinion . 5 out of 10 .
Next time I fly the S720 will be on the Taranis ..

Review Part 3 - Yak54 Aerobat EPP 800mm Wingspan 3D Plane - Maiden Flight + 1

Yak54 Aerobat 800mm Wingspan Kit

Banggood GCRC

Here is a link to the Video:

I have been wanting to Review a 3D Plane for quite some time.
In the right hands, they are very Aerobatic but also Graceful in the air.
I've never flown a 3D Plane before so they're won't be much in the way of Grace but definitely some Aerobatics ;-)
This Yak54 is an 800mm Wingspan Kit, no Electronics are included.
Mine had everything it should, except for the Motor Mount, which I suspect fell out of the Box.
Yep! This time UPS strikes again!
When I received the box the Carbon Spar and Control Rods were hanging out of a damaged corner of the box so I suspect that is how I'm missing the Motor Mount.
The Build was pretty straight forward.
I didn't like the stock assembly of the Landing Gear so I performed a MOD on that ;-)
I wanted my Aileron Servo and Control Assembly on the Bottom of the Wing instead of the Top so I perfomed a MOD for that.
I also performed a MOD on the Cutouts for the Motor Mount as I wanted more surface area for gluing the Motor Mount.
Everything else assembled as it should.
The Kit included the Carbon Wing Spar, Control Horns, Control Rods, Control Rod Linkage Stops, Control Rod Supports, Velcro, and the Control Surfaces are already Beveled...Continue Reading

The Sr-81 was a disaster......only because I'd neglected to do routine maintenance on my CNC machine....nothing,

Back to tried and true methods......I found a 2-off from the early 1970's......the Northrop YA-9, which lost the competition to the A-10.
First blush is a 48" span with twin 70's (y'all know how I like my twins).

Generating the parts, pieces, templates today..will cut it out this week
