After finishing my Tamiya TT-01 Type-E On-road to Rally conversion, I took it outside for a quick test run. Apart from the springs (very jumpy), everything else worked fine! The body is painted by my 3 year old daughter!

Stearman M-2: Nicknamed the “Bull Stearman”, the M-2 “Speedmail” was by far the largest airplane to be produced by Stearman. It was a competitor in the large mailplane market against the slightly smaller Boeing 40 series biplanes and the Pitcairn Super Mailwing. The M-2 had a daunting 46ft wingspan, weighed in at 3400lbs empty and would carry 1000lbs of mail plus fuel with a gross weight of 5500lbs. (I tried to push this thing around by myself in the grass once and I can tell you it’s a big machine) It was powered by the not-so-reliable Wright R-1750 of 525hp. (part of the reason it saw very limited success) One, sold to a private customer, was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-1690 Hornet of the same power.

The M-2 was first built and flown in 1929 and was a very advanced airplane at the time. It was of course very large and had the pilot seated very far back in a blind cockpit. It proved to be a tricky machine to fly and beyond that the Wright power plants spent as much time quitting as they did running. Varney Airlines, the only company to order M-2s, lost half of their fleet of six airplanes in the first year.

Only 7 M-2s made it out the factory doors, but one has survived. It was sold after Varney Airlines was done with the airplane and crashed in 1939 and sat partially underwater at Teslin Lake until it was collected in 1989 and restored to flying condition by Alan Lopez. I have had this printer for around 12 months now and I am still on my first ( 1kg ) roll of PLA . Thats right , still havent used up my first roll of PLA . I guess thats what happens when you print knickknacks !


PLA once exposed to air starts to degrade , so old PLA is not so great .
Mine still prints just fine , butt !!!! it has gotten really brittle and will snap when bent too tight . Like where it enters the feed for the printer . For a long time I had the solution in my head and since recently I have started printing again .

I think the solution is a feeder wheel , this wheel will stop the PLA from making to tight a bend and snapping . Also the wheel will support the PLA and more evenly distribute load over a larger area , there for hopefully being the solution to my aging roll of PLA . ( Snapping )
It's a serious PITA to start a print and have your PLA snap in half and I am getting a little sick and tired of baby sitting the printer , pulling PLA of the reel to stop it from pulling tight .

A) Wheel is printed as one half and glued together with a internal sleeve that is pressed inside the two halves ( great glue surface and improves strength )
B) Then I had to print a mounting arm
C) To the arm is mounted a spacer / bracket that the wheel mounts to
D) then on the open side I printed a press fit locking collar ( also glued )

There should be very little load on the wheel , it's just there to stop the PLA from bending too tight .

1 day left for the details, but having 5 panels assembled gave a good idea of how heavy it is. The 1.2mm container was 615g. The .4mm container is 384g. The coroplastic is unknown.

These large panels would be easier to print & more accurate on a bigger printer. Not sure if duct tape or gluing additional PLA sheets would be better. It's not very efficient to print sheets of material.

Washing the bed with dishwashing soap & heating it to 60C greatly improved the adhesion. Much less horizontal expansion is required & the bottom layer doesn't chip away if the nozzle is higher than normal.

Rearwin Cloudster:

Now a lesser known classic lightplane, the Rearwin Cloudster was once a popular high performer. In the late 1930s, Rearwin was already enjoying two successful designs, the Speedster and the Sportster. With side by side seating seeming to be a more popular seating arrangement, Rearwin wanted to develop a new airplane to accommodate the demand.

The Cloudster first flew in 1939 powered by a 90hp Ken-Royce radial by the name “Rearwin Coupe.” The Coupe was modified to have a 120hp Ken-Royce and was launched into production under the new Cloudster name. The 120hp Cloudster was a typical high wing tail-dragger with control sticks rather than the somewhat typical control wheels in most side by side designs. It sat two in the front row and in the later models featured a very unusual sideways facing rear seat for a third person to tag along.

The Cloudster was a fairly good performer with 120hp and took well in the market. It had a nice total production run of 125 airplanes. It found service in a few different markets as well. Pan American Airlines purchased 25 of them with a modified tandem seating arrangement. The rear seat featured a removable instrument panel and blackout curtains so that the student could fly on instruments while the instructor maintained forward visibility. XK A430 is sorted (5 min 47 sec)

This plane is the little drama queen ! ( Bad drama )

Anyways : Took it out this morning just in time for some wind , but the A430 handled it rather well .

Recommendations :
A) If you have an itch for the A430 , I would suggest a multi protocol Module or transmitter .
B) All control links should be moved to the outer most hole on the control horn .
C) At least 50% Expo to start with
D) THe Ailerons on mine were super sensitive and I have 35% rates and 85% expo for 3D mode

Flight trimming :

A lot of people seem to have issue with trimming these , and I would highly recommend the 60's method of adjusting the control rod length via the clevis . If your model hunts the ground , give some up elevator by giving the clevis a few twists in the correct direction . Tune the A430 VIA analogue and be rewarded for your effort .

Once sorted :

6G mode , is so easy . For such a small model - and it is small ! It flies really well and has very good power .
3D mode , for me my A430 was so twitchy as to be almost impossible to fly . The ailerons were so sensitive ... Now that the ailerons have been de fanged ( 35% rates / 85% expo / control rod at outermost hole ) , I can actually fly the A430 in a much more relaxed way . Today , a A430 was actually more fun than challenging , even with the wind .

The A430 has been a learning experience for sure . ( Heck , I even broke it's neck )

Parrot Disco and sky controller to not communicating
Free flight pro says no Internet connection when trying to connect the sky controller and the disco it actually looks like it is connecting there’s a checkmark and then it goes read the sky controller light is blinking red after initially been green for just a second and the Disco is flashing green over and over

To continue this path of using a PWM-PPM converter as an trainer-input, I've come up with something

Prototype of throttle and brake/reverse pedals over one channel:

- Exhanged the rotary potentiometer of a servo tester with a fader/slider. I used a 10K fader but woud prefer 20K-ish as the original potentiometer.
- Effective range of the fader should be better. I'll have to look into this more.
- The heavier the sliding base of the fader, the better I think. To avoid being pulled up by quickly releasing the pedal(s)

I like gliders with big fuselages. I have F3F racers and thermal sailplanes with barely enough room to fit a 17650 battery. I have not flown this one yet. Its heavy at 5kg. I plan to use a short bungee to launch it off the slope. I may add provisions for aero towing too. I considered putting a motor in it, but decided to keep it a pure glider. But I could retrofit a motor later.
I got a custom set of graphics for it. It really came out cool.
Gliders-IT is an Italian company. The owners bought X-models a while back. The sailplanes are made in Poland and the quality is quite high. But these are not easy models to build. They consider the control horns and bulkheads (formers) to be an accessory. You have to pay an additional 50euro for the kit. Since I bought the model from the USA dealer (Soaring USA) I ordered the kit directly from Italy, I ended up spending $100 for the wood parts and G10 control horns. Decent instructions or drawings do not exist. The kits are for builders with some experience. I have a Mibo Swift and it was similar, but I found plenty of build logs on a German forum (RC-Network). If my Bhyon flies like the Swift I will be very happy.
I tried to research the origins of this airplane. I think it was an Italian design that started out as a built up balsa and plywood model. Then a fiberglass fuselage was added, and eventually ended as a fully molded airplane. The flaps and ailerons are still old school top hinged. I add tape to seal the gap....Continue Reading

Just wanted to give you an update on the iRES 2M project.
Please take a look at the pdf..Main fuselage section is nearing completion (design).
I will be working on the tail section mounting and rudder/tailplane next.

I have had a very pleasant conversation (via DM) with Peter Rausch and he has allowed me to use his RESopenS wing design (non commercial use). I will be using his dxf files and slightly modifying the wing by making it one piece. The wing cord will be 220mm. See the link to his design:
This will be the F3RES wing - I do plan to have another 2M wing of my own design which will be fully winchable with flaps and ailerons..I have some ideas for a new carbon spar that I will share later!

On affronte la tempête ! Lol. Dans cette deuxième partie du test de l'HEXPLORER LR de Flywoo, nous n'avons pas choisi le jour le plus propice avec un vent de plus de 50km/h et des rafales à 80 ! Pourtant ce petit Hexa à bien tenu le coup et s'est plutôt bien comporté. Très stable et extrêmement précis, cet engin, avec ses 6 moteurs peut facilement emporter une bonne batterie ainsi qu'une caméra HD et ne force pas. Même s'il peut s'adonner au freestyle, on sent que son domaine de prédilection c'est le cruising, la ballade et la cinématique. En bref, un engin très stable, souple, précis et avec une très bonne autonomie qui conviendra autant aux débutants qu'aux amateurs de cinématiques et de cruising "Long Time" ...
