Gearbest ZMR250 miniquad DIY build kit

What you get

4x Mars Power 1806 2280kv motors (2 CW and 2 CCW)
4x 12a ESC
Glassy Carbon ZMR250 frame
CC3D Flight controller
Basic PDB board (with T plug)
5v Ubec
Bag of 2mm bullets
Anti vibration flight controller mount
and some 5030 props (missing from mine)

All you need to add is a 1300Mah-2200Mah 3S battery and a receiver to match your Transmitter and away you go.
It's also a good idea to get a battery alarm and I'd get at least 10 pairs of 5040 props as they will perform a lot better than any 5030 props.

12Amp Mr.RC branded ESCs (pretty sure they are relabeled Emax ESCs)

Motors, Black top is CCW thread and silver top is CW

The Syma X8G is the latest X8 iteration this time sporting their best camera yet for a basic but decent quality 1080p HD aerial filming platform, perhaps the ideal stepping stone to bigger things.

Is it worth buying though? I should have a review up within a few weeks which will help you answer that question.

A quick look at the CC3D Atom courtesy of banggood and available to buy for $14.99 ($14.24 with code bestbg)

What is the Atom?

It is simply a smaller and lighter version of the regular CC3D, function is identical only change is that it has a micro USB port instead of a mini USB.

Like the regular CC3D the Atom also comes in straight and bent pin options

Surprised there is not much talk on this frame. It looks pretty similar to the diatone fpv 250 but is actually fairly different up close with 1 big difference in that the arms have a dihedral angle i.e they tilt upwards towards the centre of the quad.
That should make it more stable, not sure if it gives any other benefits. The slightly larger wheelbase should be a bit better if you want to use 6" props.

Price is certainly good from banggood at $7.09
KK LED 260 KK260 Multicopter Mixed Material Frame Kit

Weight - kk260 / fpv250
bare frame - 85g / 88g
landing struts 2.67g / 3.6g
top cover 5.49g / 4.5g

The KK260 feels a little bit more flexible and is a different plastic. It also does not include any motor adapter plates like the diatone does.

A quick look at something slightly different.

A Low Temperature Stirling Engine from banggood

Saw it for $30 whilst browsing and thought it looked rather interesting and it would make a nice desktop gadget for a gift.

I was expecting it to be flat packed but it arrived in a nice strong box almost fully assembled.

The box and 2 parts you get inside

Nice mirror finish on the top plate

To Assemble you just need to clip the 2 rods from the base onto the wheel and put the wheel in place.

Had to have one of these as soon as I saw it as it looked to be the perfect and cheapest way to get a camera on my new gimbal.

$9.99 from hobbyking's China warehouse

The instructions are a bit basic and you will need the teardown instructions here for dismantling the mobius, I'd also download the instructions from HK's site as they are clearer than the included printed sheet.

Mobius weight before was 41g and after the conversion is 52.69g

The contenders

The WLtoys V272 "gargantuan green" Weighing in at 13.36g
The Cheerson CX-10 "pink power" Weighing in at 11.97g

Well I was going to do a little comparison between the 2 but after flying the CX-10 there is no point continuing as it is clearly the better quad in all areas.
It's lighter, smaller, way better looking, and really surprising is how easy it is to fly with the included tiny Tx, I thought it would be poor but it's not.
Overall I'm very impressed with how nice it flies, and more so at how they can sell something this good for such a low price.
One CX-10 flight was all it took and now all my v272s are on the 'to sell' pile.

Winner by instant knockout

In a increasingly crowded market can this quad stand out from the rest?

Purchased from tmart - current price $28.49

Silly cheap
Normal size Tx with dedicated flip button
Very nice, tight flips
Yellow one certainly stands out nicely
Surprisingly fast
Not managed to break anything yet so definitely not fragile as it's had plenty of crashes and drops
So small you can fly it anywhere, dare I say it even when visiting the Porcelain Throne

Fitted props come off very easily though spares it comes with are much better
Yaw rate v.slow even by wltoys standards
Stock TX needs modding to be really usable (easy to do though)
Design flaw with one of the red LEDs prone to failing
Poor stock battery due to inadequate protection circuit

As an indoor flyer I'm really liking it, it's just so tiny you can fly it in even the smallest of rooms and still be able to fling it around and have some fun.
And outdoors I'm also rather impressed by it, not as good as say the v252 nor would you expect it to be but does well for its size and that small size means that even a small garden has plenty of room, it's also good fun seeing what the smallest gap you can fly it through is
