Here is the Half Pint Cub almost complete. Built from DTF foam and covered with gift wrapping tissue paper from the Dollar Store. I still have to add some landing gear and maybe some paint. 17.5" wingspan and dry weight of 0.6 oz or 17 grams. It should weigh in at under 1 oz when completed.

I used Elmer's white glue for everything and used a 50/50 glue and water to apply the covering. Bambo skewers for wing spars, hot glue hinges.. Gonna have to acquire some micro gear or maybe I'll add a rubber power motor and go free flight...?

Well the parafoil I bought off the forum but everything else is from scratch. All Dollar Tree Foam laminated. Apple Barrel paint and covered in packing tape.

Skewers to keep things straight and a paint stirrer along the bottom to keep it rigid with abour 2" sticking out the front to mount my 808 cam.

It's my understanding that this parafoil flies good with a 23-25oz load. With the electronics and a 2S 2200 I have the gondola at about 20oz.. I made a place on the upright for a larger camera so I should be able to meet my goal weight easy enough.

As soon as I untangle all the lines and get them cut to length I'll give it a try and report how it went.

Lying here with nothing but time on my hands I have a few rescent pics (took a few weeks back) and figured I'd post em'.

This is my most rescent build, The Slowly. An old timer style foamie built from 3/16" DTF (dollar tree foam) or Readi Board. I didn't document the build only the end result. I will be building a bigger, better (construction wise) in the near future. I'm not sure if you can tell in the pics but the next day after I got the fuse completed I stumbled in my shop (spare bed room) and as I threw my hands out to catch my fall my hand landed on the back section of the fuse and smashed it flat. Not wanting to waste any more foam on a damaged plane, I pieced it back together as best I could with scrap foam, popscicle sticks and hot glue. Despite that it still only weighed in at 12oz exactly, battery included.

Did a quick paint job with cheap Apple Barrel acrylics, which I brushed on with a foam brush and achieved great results. I like the coverage you can get with tne foam brush over air brushing. Seems like it takes several coats with the airbrush vs brushing.

I caught these vids here on RCG and it looks like a fun slow flyer. I designed for outdoor flying, but it can be trimmed down to make a good indoor flyer. The current WS is 30" without the polyhedral tips and it has an under-cambered rolled airfoil.

The cut files are for 1/4" foam, 1/8" bit, and original Phlatprinter. Regenerate the gcode for over-head gantry if needed.

I also included files for optional KF step panels and Floats/Skis.

It will be a while before I can cut this plane, so if anyone tries it, please post here.

Yes, I know, another profile 3D plane . I worked this plan up for a guy who wanted some CNC cut, but due to some health issues I haven't been able to cut them, but the plans are done and no need for them to go to waste. Maybe someone can use them.

Your choice of 1/4" / 6mm foam, tab and slot construction, carbon fiber where needed, you know the routine.

Oh yea, the air-brakes are optional. If not desired, don't cut out the two slots on the trailing edge of the ailerons.

Now, back to my airboat.

Not a true airboat, it can't glide out of water due to the rudder, (I have trucks for that) but it can easily be modified to a high rudder if you like. I finished this up last weekend and plan on cutting it out this weekend. This is a prototype for the big one I am going to build. I have a 26cc gas engine to strap on it.

Designed for (2) 24" x 48" x 1/4" fan fold foam sheets.

Length: 24"
Width: 14"
Hull depth: 2"

Power: I'm gonna try a TowerPro 2408 or 2410 type bell brushless, (what I have on hand) just as a starting point and maybe a 8-10 inch SF prop then ease into a higher KV motor and a HD prop.

Have fun and please post all your improvements.

Don't forget to water-proof your gear and battery inside a balloon or condom and close up the open end around the wires with a zip-tie.

Seems like I post this diagram quite often, so I thought I'd just post it here and link to it.

The diagram tells the whole story. Very simple and cheap to build with parts you probably already have lying around.

As for the hot(wire) itself, everything from stainless steel fishing leaders to guitar strings to small steel push-rods (piano wire) have be used with great success. Personally, I use nichrome, but that's just because I had a good supply of it on hand and have never had any trouble with it.

This are many other ways of powering a hotwire, this is just a quick, nasty, throw-together conglomeration that works in a pinch.

I am the proud owner of a Phlatprinter CNC Machine and I am offering my cutting services. I will cut your own designs, prototypes, or any FREE FOAMIE plans that may be available to you on the internet or elsewhere. Or if you have an idea for something, give me shout.

The only foam readily available to me is 1/4" or 6mm fan fold foam so, at the present time, that is all I am cutting.

The cost is negotiable per 22" x 42" sheet plus shipping. Only the cut-out parts will be shipped, not the entire sheet(s). This will reduce package size and shipping costs. The price includes the foam, my cutting services and my time spent converting and coding your plans (PDF, DXF, SKP, BMP, etc.) to be cut.

I can also cut other things as well as planes. I am doing this as a hobby to help support my RC habit. I am not equipped to do this commercially nor do I have a website. Just trying to make a few extra bucks.

I've always liked the Cap232 so I decided to design a 30" foamy version. I have it worked up in SU for cutting on my Phlatprinter and I'll be posting those files over at the Phlatforum free plans section along with the graphic scheme scheme as soon as I do some glide tests for CG and make any changes if needed.

I'll also be posting the full and tiled PDF plans here in my blog when complete.

All common foamy equipment, of course the lighter your equipment the better. This is just what I have on hand.

Someone requested a PDF of my PhlatJak so while I just converted it I figured I may as well post it here also.

I updated the PhlatJak PDFs with cleaner files.

I bought a bundle of the Green Guard FFF at Lowes and decided to try it out on a Lazy Bee that I've been working on in Sketchup.

This was designed in Sketchup along with the paint scheme I used and with the Phlatscript plug-in I output the designs to gcode which aloud me to cut all the parts out on my Phlatprinter.

The paint masks I used were also cut on my Phlatprinter. I cut them from an old cardboard box that I broke down until it was flat and some scrap pink foam I had lying around. Mind you, this was an experiment and learning experience for me. The masks came out great but my painting skills need some work. Next time I will secure the masks to the foam instead of just holding them up to the foam and spraying away. BTW, I uxod Krylon H20 spray can paints.

The Foam
It is comparable to the OC Pink but not as brittle. It is flatter than the Blue or the Pink. It cuts very well in my Phlatprinter and by hand. I doesn't take much heat so use a low temp glue gun or keep the tip of you gun from making contact with the foam. Hot glue bonds really well to it.

It is fairly flexible but not as forgiving as the blue. It comes with one clear side (no printing) and on printed side. For my Phlatptinter I cut with the printed side down. I works for me. Dust from the cutter is not a problem

If you need to make bends, the "counter top edge rub" works pretty good but if you are going for are tighter radius I suggest fold lines, also called score marks or bend lines. Either...Continue Reading

28" should be fun on the snow or scale it down for some combat. Something different at the field.

Multiple cross section lines on the two skids in the plans are reference for score marks. They may not be needed to bend the foam to shape. Use your own judgment.

Applying plastic (2 liter pop bottle) to the bottom of the skids makes for a nice slick service on snow.
