Long time since I wrote anything in my blog. Some Years ago when I mainly flew propeller planes
I bought 4 kits from "Sonic Model" also sold as Hype in Europe. Recently I discovered that these planes
still was sold under the name Nicesky. Wingspan 680mm approx 26" so they are not park size models.

The 4 kits were: Hurricane, Focke Wulf 190, P-47 Thunderbolt and a P-51D Mustang.

The Hurricane went into the bin pretty early it was a awful flew like a dog, foam crappy it was simply junk

Then I assembled the FW-190 struggled a bit to get the COG correct but managed it. That one is just
brilliant it almost flies like a Focke Wulf FW-190 it's just amazing!

For some weeks ago I started to assemble the P-47, flew it today (early morning no wind) with a E-flite 9x4,7 prop.
The prop is a bit too big for the plane I will try an APC 8x4,7SF or similar later.

Update
Could not find any 8x4,7 in my stock pile so I went for APC 8x6SF and that made the day!
Need to increase rudder throw ...

WLtoys F959 bound to my Taranis Q x7 (5 min 52 sec)

It was a cold / foggy day today !
I think it was just around 10deg Celsius when I was at the park and the breeze was just picking up .

The WLtoys F959 has been around for a long time now .
It has earned a rep for being value for money , but I really hate the factory transmitter .
The one that came with my F959 simply confirmed my right to not like the Factory supplied transmitter .
So I simply bound the F959 to my Taranis Q x7 .
Since the F959 runs the old Flysky protocol , you could use a 9x or other transmitter that supports the protocol .

I had previously trimmed the F959 for glide , and the Q x7 simply makes controlling the F959 so much more rewarding .
So at the park under power the F959 was pulling up . I literally needed almost all the down trim the trim pot offered ( mine is set to fine ) .
But once trim was established , the F959 was so easy to fly . It is almost a hands off plane .
For most of the flight I was running about 30% throttle ? ( watch the video ) .

I have to say , I was flying the F959 a little slowly . It never tried to stall out on me , not even when I tried to lower the throttle even more . The F959 simply started to slowly descend .
I did do one full throttle pass and turn , then cutting the motor going into a glide . ( I lost altitude quickly because the glide trim and power trim are so different ) To glide you really need to gently apply a little up...Continue Reading

Apollo XI flying field is open again! Max flight ceiling of 250 feet.

Previous limit used to be 400 feet. Lucky we got 250 though. Curious how the new height limit will affect the larger aircraft and especially turbine use.

***If you see a helicopter hovering, even way in the distance, LAND immediately. Don't go around again, LAND immediately.***

TheJANG from UltimateRC did a battery review many years ago using a discharge graph comparing 30A discharge cycles between MaxAmps brand and a couple budget brand packs that were available at the time. TheJANG found that performance was nearly identical between the packs and could not recommend MaxAmps with the opinion that they were over stating their C ratings and the price they were charging were not justified. MaxAmps would retaliate and forced YouTube to remove any video that TheJANG had published with MaxAmps in his content over "Copyright Protection". TheJANG had to cross out MaxAmps in any reference to his review on his website. He even banned the word MaxAmps from being used on the URC forums... folks would quickly adobt the name MaxCramps which was very accurate.

Yep Les Amis,
LOL . Merci de votre soutien et ... Bon Film à Tous .

Les + : Images, Ergonomie, Confort, Réception, PRIX !

Someone lost his RC sailplane in the field and we did some search and rescue using the DJI Mavic. After that I had great fun chasing wings and planes in the golden hour. Buddy 10REDFPV made a nice cut of it along with some funny footage from his cinewhoop.

Retracts have been well worn and work good on plane stand but on takeoff they don’t retract all the way into the wheel wells. I am using 4S and amps are under ESC limit. I replaced old retracts with new ones (stock) to see if this solves the problem.
The old retract was taken apart for inspection and to see how they work. See pics

Today the maiden with new retracts went great. The wheels go all the way up to the worm gear “stops” and the tires are flush with the underside of the wing!

This is my unboxing for the Freewing A-4 Skyhawk 80mm EDF Jet. It is pretty awesome!

Freewing A-4 Skyhawk 80mm EDF Jet Unboxing & Review (9 min 57 sec)

Here are my review notes for this stunning Freewing EDF Jet:

Pros:
- Nice smooth finish on foam
- Scale retracts with quality suspension
- You can go between the F & E models with ease due to the magnetic “hump”.
- In addition to the hump, the provided decal sets and the fact the airframe comes bare allows for significant customization.
- The kit also comes with tons of different pieces including a tailhook and cockpit steps you can glue on for example.
- It has been out for a while, so all of the bugs have been worked out making the actual plane build quick and easy with no surprises.

Cons:
- It took a while to apply the waterslide decals, but that was mostly due to me never using them before.

Have you experienced that uncomfortable condition referred to as "Failure to Launch" or FTL? No need to pretend it doesn't exist or try to hide it anymore--we have The Cure!

Below, we demonstrate how to configure, setup, and use BetaFlight Launch Control to overcome that dastardly condition afflicting so many FPV Pilots-“Failure to Launch” (FTL). As a special bonus, we’ve created an easy-to-follow, 3 page, step-by-step checklist (with graphics) to show you exactly how to setup this feature and activate it on a switch of your transmitter and configure it on your quadcopter with BetaFlight. 👍

Let's get started

Description:
It's been over a year since I've been in this hobby. First with static models due to the lack of components to fly them and then more recently, and thanks to a visit of my wife to switzerland, I've been able to get the electronics I need to start building my own planes. The first model I built was a replica of the Cessna 182, with which I learned the basics for a successful flight. But in this world, it is never enough, there is always a next step.

We've all probably seen a model and said: I want this model in my hangar for sure! That was my reaction when I first saw Durafly's EFX Racer. Maybe you guys are thinking, why do it instead buy it? I live in Cuba, and here we don't have access to any hobby shops, and we can't shop online either. So, we just have to resign ourselves? No, there are thousands of ways to build models with conventional materials. All you have to do is want it and make an effort.

With the objective fixed, it only remains to start building, and all good construction begins with a good plan. As usually happens with most commercial models, there are no plans, so you just have to do it yourself. The level of detail of the plan will depend on the construction technique we use. In my case, I used a basic construction technique, using EPP. So I only needed the plan profiles of the different views of the model and some more details. After several hours of work, I obtained the basic plan following the images provided in the assembly...Continue Reading

I started in this world of radio control less than a year ago, although I had been studying the subject for a long time. In my opinion, I started in an unusual way. Most people choose a commercial kit as their first airplane, but... i live in Cuba. An EasySrart or a Brixler are some of the most common models for beginners because of the flying characteristics they provide. I, on the other hand, decided, out of ignorance, to start with a Cessna. At that time I didn't know that, although it may seem like it, it's not a model trainer. And if you still don't think it's enough, my Cessna was not a commercial model but also my first scratch build.
Perhaps starting with a first self-built plane is not the most advisable way, but it is an interesting process from which you learn a lot of useful things for the future. Not only will we learn how to build but we will also become familiar with techniques that will help us repair our models. Here is the history of their construction.

The adventure
Being the Cessna 182 such a common model, the amount of information, plans, images and videos available on the web, as well as threads of its construction in different materials and techniques is huge. Obtaining the plans was not a big problem, I just modified them a little to adapt them to my building style.
