DustOff #3 - Volantex Super Cub - More Acrobatic than I thought ;-)

Here is a link to the Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcIDpg_Txpk

Now that this plane is all trimmed out let's see how it performs ;-)
It's more acrobatic than I thought it would be and that's a good thing!

The amount of Flaps I have is 10mm from the top of the Aileron to the top of the Wing.
The amount of Up Elevator Trim is 3mm.

I was using a good 7x4 composite prop in these flights.

I used a Nanotech 2S 450mah 65C LIPO on a 4 minute flight and still had 7.6v in the pack.
I was in the throttle a lot during the flight and I should be able to get 7 minutes of flight time leaving 3.5v per cell or 7.0v for the pack.
That looks pretty respectable to me considering how small these batteries are ;-)

Tip #27 - Volantex Ranger G2 Setup - Control Surface Deflection & Flaps

Here is a link to the Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrMzPdmbSvs

I have the Volantex Ranger G2 setup pretty well now and it has good Aileron and Elevator Control.
I'm also happy with the Flap Setting on the Flaperons.
In this Video I'm going to provide my setting on this Plane so it will give you a good Baseline to start with.
These Setting should provide you with a successful Maiden Flight of this plane.

The measurements on the Control Surfaces were measured at the Control Horns to make sure there was no flexing of the Control Surface when actuating.

Tip #26 - Using Low Voltage Components with Higher Voltage Power Systems

Here is a link to the Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2KLtIHp4Aw

My original intent with the RC conversion of the Chuck Glider using a Brushless Power Systems was for a 1S LIPO setup.
Needless to say, I could not get nearly enough thrust from a Brushless Motor & ESC to power this Glider on a 1S LIPO.
I had already ordered the Low Voltage Receiver & Servos, so now what do I do?
Well, I took the process I had used to convert an OPTO ESC into a Non-OPTO ESC by adding a Switching Voltage Regulator.
I still had a problem though, as I didn't want to use more than 4.2 volts (1S LIPO Voltage) to power these Low Voltage Receivers & Servos.
I remembered using some Adjustable Switching Voltage Regulators in the past to power things that maxed out at 5V so I used one of those and was able to complete the RC Conversion of the Chuck Glider using the Low Voltage Components I already ordered ;-)

I have received a few question on how I accomplished this so I'm providing this "Show & Tell" Tip & Tutorial and a Wiring Diagram that will help you do the same thing and allow you to provide no more than 4.2 Volts of power to these components while still providing full power to your Motor & ESC.

This is the process I used to complete the RC Conversion of the Chuck Glider and it worked flawlessly ;-)

Tip #25 - Brushed Motor & ESC - No Throttle Response?

Here is a link to the Video:

Time to test the Super Cub MOD we performed by replacing the single 9g Servo with two 4.4g Servos and programming Flaperons.
After needing some significant adjustment and repair of the Landing Gear it's ready for Takeoff ;-)

Review Update - Tattu R-Line 4S 1050mah 95C LIPO

Here is a link to the Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4atA7AL9kCQ

I wanted to do an update of the initial review of these LIPOs since one of them was bad.
I want to let you know, not only when a company does something bad, but also when they do something good.
After Gens/Tattu reviewed the video I made showing the bad cell in one of the LIPOs they requested I fill out an RMA Form online.
I filled out the online RMA Form which was approved the same day and I also received a tracking number on the replacement battery shipment the same day ;-)
Now that's fast customer service!
So Gens/Tattu stood behind their product and provided outstanding customer support.
I will not hesitate to order from them again.
I thought you should know how things went on getting a replacement battery.

Test Flight #3 - Ranger G2 with 8X4 Prop - Loops,Rolls, & Flaps Deployment ;-)

Here is a link to the Video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcZh1ZxiZ10

After performing the Motor Thrust Angle MOD on the Ranger G2 it gave me space for an 8x4 Prop.
I removed the stock 7x5 Prop to conduct some Test Flights with and 8x4 Prop.
This should produce significantly more thrust than the stock 7x5 Prop.
I have this plane trimmed out pretty well now ;-)
I have increase the Airleron from 100% Scale to 110% Scale to give a bit more Airleron authority.
I think I like that additional deflection on the Airlerons.
I also programmed some down Elevator with the Flaps to keep the plane from nosing up when Flaps are deployed.
Let's see if that helps.
So let's go do some Rolls, Loops, and Flap deployment ;-)
