I've now put around 50-60 packs through my Furibee X140 and my opinion on this one has shifted. I think the price, durability and completeness of this quad make it an ideal starter or a good back-up for the intermediate pilot when all your other quads are under repair.

Updated the discounts page for deals that are made live for 29 November Beijing time. Limited numbers so some will sell out more quickly (probably the XJB 145 and Arfun Pro). Will try to keep page updated as new deals come in, go out.

The Gemfan 2540 props are quieter, better balanced and only slightly less powerful that the stock king kong 2840 propellersbut they are MUCH more efficient = longer flight times. Lastly they are inexpensive - $1.20 - $2.00 per set depending on where you get them. Until something better comes along I will not be using any other props.

Gearbest are currently running a promotion till the 24th of November discounting all quadcopters by 27%. This discount is off their RRP price. In general this takes pretty much all BNF and PNP quads to their best promotional prices except perhaps the Bfight which has been $99 in the past.

Link to brushless quads where discount applies here

Use code RCCool1111 (who comes up with these)

Here is my Leader 120 reviews parts 1 and 2. The Leader has become my most used quad because it is so versatile. It has the benefits of a micro (crash resistant and easier to fly in smaller and busier spots) but has power that is getting close to a 5 inch. It is such a good mix of price and performance. Review is based on version 2 with the better black motors.

Found a good non-slip battery pad that actually works and is cheap. Currently available for $1.50 and is enough material for a few quads

The Furibee X140 is an extremely durable 3" stretched x quadcopter capable of 3s and 4s. The price is very sharp at around $100

In part 1 of my review where I look at this one the bench, part 2 initial flight to be completed shortly. TLDR from the article:

Early pre-flight conclusions
I really like the components on this one especially at the price point ($105 currently for PNP). I think it was unecessary to build the frame with removable arms and heavy 4mm thick ones at that. Micro quads tend to be more crash resistant because they are lighter so this looks like an overkill. In saying that it should be VERY VERY durable and should offer good flight times with the more effcient low kV motors it has. I'll comment after part 2 of this review on mods but I have a few in mind that should really make this move.

I've detailed my experiences of getting into multigp racing here starting with a build of a low cost super light 5" quad. This is centred largely around the XJB F428 TX20 stack and whether it can stretch to run a full 5" set up.

The Santa quads from Gearbest and Banggood can be whooped and are a lot of fun. Plus you can make the whole thing for only $25.

Check out the build on my site with some handy tips and tricks.

PS the onboard sound is hillariousy loud and obnoxious!
