I setup up a system on my truck with solar panels and enough battery storage to be able to charge plenty of lipo's even on a shady day.

Back to my Chevy project.
Decided to run a steel billet mechanical roller cam. Air Flow Research took care of me, sent back my brand new heads, to make the fast ramp mechanical roller really work it takes more than just stiffer springs, longer valves for up to .700" lift, pockets machined for larger diameter springs, different retainers, etc.

Way over budget on this one, they always are if I do it right.
File fit the piston ring end gaps at .016" top ring, .020" 2nd ring which is really tight but worth a few HP and some torque.
Those super lightweight made in USA billet mechanical rollers and 1.6 ratio billet machined rocker arms aren't cheap, but with a fast ramp roller that opens and closes the valves really fast those cheap imported parts on ebay won't last.

Cast aluminum two piece timing chain cover to I can adjust cam timing without having to drop the oil pan. Intake manifold is being ported now to match the heads, that gives a few HP, torque and throttle response.

Hoping to find an engine dyno close by.

Got the Omega 1.8 up in the air today for the first time.
This thing is really light at 22 oz AUW.
Little Hacker gearbox motor, 1000 ma 3S lipo battery.

Frustrated with the Viking II E, spent hours trying to get the RX back in place with the three antennas through the holes, still can't do it.

Back to my Chevy motor project, stroker assembly finally came in.
Got the short block assembled, put in some nice parts.
3.75" Scat stroker crank, profiled I beam 6" rods with recessed 12 point bolts, ended up having to notch the bottoms of the bores just a tiny bit.
Mahle flat top pistons, floating pins, file fit rings.

CNC has made some really cool hot rodding parts.
Getting 6" rods and a 3.75" stroke in a 350 without having the floating piston pins stick into the oil ring is an engineering feat. The piston/rod is much stronger than what was available 20 years ago and 225 grams lighter so it revs faster and higher, a new forged aluminum alloy that allows tighter piston to wall clearances.

Just put up the cylinder head pics. these are the new AFR 195 cc heads with the competition package, CNC porting, 2.08 intake valves, larger springs, 7/16" studs. They have been redesigned a few times now. AFR really puts a lot of pride into their product. Over 300 CFM flow from a 195 CC port, these flow better than 220 cc heads a decade ago, high rpm power without giving up low rpm velocity and throttle response.

Had some spare PVC stuff laying around as I am in the water business.


Started building a stand to store fuselages and wings. Those are open box sediment filters on the cross bars.

Getting everything right before first flight.
The wings were not going in all the way.

I wet sanded the spar with 1500 grit paper.
Cleaned up the front and rear holes in the fuselage where the dowel pins from the wings slide in.
Removed the multiplex connectors from the fuselage as they were pushing in when I put the wings in.
Here is what I found, one multiplex will not connect.

Plan to maiden the Viking 2E this weekend.

It has a Neu 1509/1Y/6.7 with 5S 2200 battery 3+2, RFM 17 x 13 prop.
I have a spare fuselage also, may put in my 1110/1Y/6.7 for a lightweight setup, but let me get this thing in the air first.

I have been flying the Backfire on the 17 x 18 with a 5S battery and it just didn't feel as fast or as much power as ecalc says. Pulled the data log and it isn't. Under 2000 watts. I think my offset twisted spinner isn't twisted.

After stepping on the back of the fuselage I did a repair with some directional carbon. To balance the CG I removed the 1509/1Y motor and put in a 1512/1.5S/6.7
In this video a TP 3850 5S and RFM 17 x 18 prop.

I want to try a 6S soon

Been flying the Mini Corado a while now.
Video was shot with an RFM 15 x 15 wide prop on 4S, about 1550 watts.
I plan to put that prop on a 5 degree twisted spinner.

Today I flew it with a 16 x 17 prop, over 2000 watts and it showed. Prop speed about 144 but the acceleration was much better, faster than the video above.

Felt like I am close to the limit now, prop clears wing by about 1/8", motor and battery are pretty warm after flight. I just did short bursts today, first time with this setup and it was close to 100 degrees.

I think with longer motor bursts I can get another 500 rpm of prop speed.

Everybody at the field comments on it now. When the launch is just a 3 second burst it is running hard.

I put in a Neu 1110/1Y/6.7 motor in place of the 1105.
A few flights to dial it in then put on a 15 x 16 prop on a 4S it was really fast and roasted the ESC in one flight.

So, I put in a spare Ice Lite 100, 3S, 2600, 55C battery and a 16 x 17 prop.
Just barely clears the wing. Flies really nice, 1150 watts on launch, about 1100 on each motor burst afterwards. Prop speed is about 115 mph.

This is a nice combo, not insane fast but quick enough to be fun. I put a eneloop AAA battery pack behind the wing when I put in this motor. Thought it would be nose heavy but it isn't at all, will need to move the battery pack forward.

What is wrong with Gensaceusa.com

I have bought many Gens Ace batteries. Most have performed well. I have one 3S I bought recently that was DOA, only registers 2 cells. I have submitted multiple tickets to return for exchange or credit.

They have a separate site for customer support, can't get through on the phone.

I can log in and see my ticket but can't respond or update to anything they say. I have told them but no response.
The service sucks.

I have about a dozen flight now on my mini corado.
Neu 1105/2.5Y.4.4 with 2200 3S battery.

I started wtih a HobbyKing carbon 13 x 8 prop, great for the first few flights.

Took a RFM 14.5" x 14 and cut it down to 12.8" x 14, 67 amps on the bench. Flew a few times on a small field by work, flew great. Then flew at a larger field on the motor a lot, 15 seconds at a time, nearly burned up the motor. Didn't have my IR gun, data log was unable to parse data. Went down to a 13 x 11 for now.

I have two Sky Lipo 1300 4S batteries coming to run 2600 4S, possibly a 10 x 8 prop. Don't know if I am going the right way or not, just seems the little 1105 with the 4.4 needs to run rpm, trying to make it turn a 13" prop makes lots of heat. Maybe wtih the 10" I can do long motor runs.

Did the Maiden Flight of the Mini Corado today.
I was really pleased with the way it flew. Launched very well, very little trim needed.

Current setup is about 500-600 watts, weight 30.5 ounces.

The Mini Corado is very docile and easy to fly. At this weight it also can thermal and land at very slow speeds.

I have seen others here with this model with much higher power setups. I can see wanting more power but I wanted something I can fly in a small area and thermal with a broad speed envelope.

This video is a bit rough. I will try to post some better footage.

Almost ready for the maiden flight. This is the carbon version. I tried to make it light, Neu 1105/2.5Y/4.4, 1800 3S battery, 13 x 8 prop, DS09 and D47 servos.
