Hello all,
I wanted to share a video of the maiden flights on the Imperial Knight Twister built and flown by William C. Nichols of Grove City, Ohio. The Knight twister biplane has a special part of history for Ohio. Don Fairbank's was from Cincinnati, Ohio and the full scale version of this plane is on display at Sporty's Pilot Shop located in Batavia , Ohio. Furthermore, for Bill Nichols, growing up in New Philadelphia, Ohio he would often see another version of the Knight Twister being flown by Tony Sabler.

In the early 2000's he built a 1/2A version of the Imperial Knight Twister, this is powered by a Norvel .074 motor and flies great! Always wanting to build a larger version it happened to be fate, when a plan, cowl, wheel pants, and the long discontinued Magna-lite material the original construction article called for was found at a swap meet in Washington Courthouse, Ohio. It was without delay that this was purchased. It took Mr. Nichols approx 2 years off and on to complete the Knight Twister and after going on a two show model tour and taking "Best of Show" at both events, the biplane was taken up for a maiden earlier this week. The model won "Best of Show" in 2018 at the Westerville Model Swap Shop/Show and at the Lancaster Model Swap Shop/Show both located in Ohio.

Below is a video of the models maiden flights, the aircraft flies great, was balanced perfectly and only required a few clicks of down trim.

The model is of 1/3 scale and...Continue Reading

Hi guys and gals
So far everything seems to be working on the software however when I disconnect led and try to startup (in att mode) using one of four csc commands I get a double yellow blink then 3 red blinks and if I continue holding command led blinks green three times only once, then back to yellow and red blinks? Is this normal?
Also I noticed when I was calibrating sticks the elevator bar moved to -1000 but only 987 the other way after calibration would this effect csc commands starting motors? I bypassed MC to make sure my esc were working , when I connected to throttle channel on rx they all worked fine? Please help

The default serial speed of my HC-05 is 9600 baud which was fast for serial communications in 1975, but I decided to increase it to 57600. The module is connected to S5, so I needed to set the SERIAL5_BAUD to 57. This can be done in various ways, depending on your Ardupilot ground station software.

To change the serial speed on the BT module it is necessary to use a USB/TTL adapter to set the device in "AT" mode which on my module is achieved by holding down a button switch while powering on. In this mode the default speed is set to 38400 baud, so I configured the communication speed on the terminal software to match.

Using the terminal software (Serial USB Terminal on Android phone), I connected to the USB/Serial converter:

After disconnecting and rebooting, I was able to connect to the ground station at a much faster speed via BT

The Frsky X8R receiver sends RSSI data back to the XJT Frsky transmitter module so it can be displayed on the radio. However, I wanted to also display it on my groundstation. I believe the same applies for OSD.

The RSSI signal lead on the X8R receiver is connected to the RSSI pin on the F405-Wing. The receiver is connected to the FC via SBUS.

I have set the Arduplane rssi params:

RSSI values are displayed as percentages.
