According to the 100mm macro, the black material on the upper main bearing is metal filings. Since this bearing supports the entire weight of the copter, not much 2 do but minimize payload and order some more bearings. -

Another session with the tail and it's straight enough to fly by again. Flying with a bent tail boom is really hard because the controls are off relative to the tail. -

Straightening the fuselage would require rebuilding it. Maybe the canopy would have prevented this or maybe it wouldn't have, but it's still ugly. -

Now a throttle enhancement we did early on. To decouple the throttle and rudder movements, wrap electrical tape around the throttle's copper brush. You don't have to grind down the throttle bumps. -

We have a strange substance dissolved in oil forming around the upper mane shaft bearing and the tail rotor bearing. That was just 27 minutes after cleaning. -

At great distances it looked like 5 dots with no evidence of orientation as we found out the hard way. After turning into 5 dots and losing orientation, it rammed at great speed into U know the country. United with it, you might say. -

Unfortunately the swaying of the light under the copter made it even more unstable than it already is. After 4 minutes of swaying and mane raising losses of control, landed and removed the halogen. -

Finally acquired a stopwatch and now we have estimates of the actual flight time per battery charge. During lighting experiments it's been lasting 25 minutes. Not as long as the kids are claiming but longer than marines in Iraque.
