This video was taken by Rafael Badillo on 11-10-21. Its subject is the maiden flight of Meister Fockewolf 190 A5 built by Ramon Medina and restored by Gonzalo Bures. The Maiden flight took place in Borinquen RC Club in Sabana Seca, Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. The club has an 800' asphalt runway in very good conditions.

The restoration took about 6 months and included replacement of powerplant to a 3W 70i, installation of new electriclal power sources, scheme change, repair of damaged areas , repainting, balancing and testing. Details of the restoration process and progress can be seen in my Blog in RCG. Shamefully, I omitted replacing the tires/wheels which were 12-15 years old Dubro and the foam was Gummy (like Gummy Bears) causing the plane to have drag on its roll. Since I had not had a 40lbd model before, did not judge the tires to be ready for replacement. Now I know better. New tires are ordered.

The model has a wingspan of 100",. Its powered by a 3W 70i rear carburator driving a Zinger 24X10 wooden prop. It has a 36 oz Dubro fuel tank which will provide fuel for an extended over 20 minute flight. Ignition is a CH Ignition powered by a LIFE 2.1K mah. The FW 190 is controlled thru my old faithfull Futaba 9C with a 9 channel PCM receiver and Hitec metal gear servos., nine of them in total. Elctrical power source is for the receiver main; 2 LIFE 3K mah in prallel connected to a backup NAM and a B/U LIFE 2.1kmah as battery back up with external LED to show if the...Continue Reading

Finally after a long restoration process, Schennewittchen is ready for her maiden. Friend Ricky Rivera took video of the FW 190 taxing to the runway to perform her maiden. In the video is Rafa Badillo who took the full video of the flight and will be shared with you when its ready in youtube.

In the meantime, the maiden was succesfull. Everything went fine right up to touchdown. Been cheap is not good in this hobby nor any other. I fixed and replaced many iyems but kept the main tires which are 15 years old. On touch down, this "Gummy Bear" tires prevented the model from maintaining its forward speed and worked as breaks. The FW 190 made a nose over due to the fast loss of forward speed. No damage occurred. Not even the wood prop was broken.

Will install new tires that will roll easily for the 2nd flight.
