=Preflight Trim Process=

1. confirm that the subtrim is set to zero in the subtrim menu on the transmitter

2. Then you will need to confirm that the flight trim is set to zero on the main display on the transmitter.

3. Before you perform the next steps, it would be best to remove the prop.

4. Then you will need to turn ON the TX and then install the flight battery in the plane and set it on its wheels and let it initialize the receiver.

5. After the surfaces have done their little dance, (If you haven't removed the prop, firmly hold the plane) throttle up to about half throttle and then throttle all the way down.

6. Verify that the transmitter is switched into advanced flight mode (SAFE is OFF) by lifting one wing tip and making sure that the ailerons to not move and hold position like in beginner mode (SAFE).

7. Set the model down and now you can make the mechanical adjustments at the clevis to center the rudder. Ensure the servo arm is at 90* and equal throws for both sides.

8. Be sure to wiggle the rudder stick on the TX after each adjustment to confirm that the servo has returned to center and that the rudder has come to rest at neutral.

9. Once the rudder comes to rest check that it is exactly centered and lined up with the vertical stab.

10. Turn OFF everything and reinstall the prop and you are ready for trimming in the air.

one day at the club about 6-8 guys grabbed their "Combat Wings" and had a go at a round of "combat" ... I'd never seen this in person and I gotta say, it was pretty fascinating ... enough that I bought a Combat Wing PnP from a guy at the R/C Club (MRRCS) I belong to that decided it really wasn't for him (Mike Bogan) as he flys large fast planes, including turbines

I have a number of flights on it, still trying to get to know its characteristics, but am liking it

here's the maiden vid and pics of the repaint to convert it to the 12th Man... and everyone knows that the 12th Man can NOT be defeated in combat

can't really tell in the pics but that's a cool metallic blue

an amazing day today... spent it flying with my 5 yr old wingman Tate out at the club airfield. My most wonderful wife packed some snacks and we loaded the Burb and the three of us spent a few hours at the RC Club "Pfeiffer Field" (named after an original founding member) (MRRCS) flying with Tate

couldn't believe it, the gate was closed for the second time in a row!! we had the place all to ourselves! it was just what we'd hoped for, and yes, it was just spectacular

here's a few pics and a great video that Grammy was able to get while we were flying the Parkzone Sport Cub

I'm pretty stoked, loaded the Burb up for my first solo run to the club ... it was a perfect summer morning.... I headed out there at 10am on a Tues for about a 3 hour adventure. I'd stayed longer but I needed to be home at 2 o'clock to meet the grand-kiddos at the house for a pool party

so I get there and to my delight the gate was locked... I had the place to myself!! pinch me, I think I'm dreaming

I just had to snap a pic before I flew so I decided to walk up and take a panoramic of the awesome serene landscape with Mt Rainier looming on the horizon...

just as I was taking my last pic, a couple members showed up (Ray & Jerry?), had a great time talking and flying

kinda hard to find anything to complain about.... except that I smacked my windshield the day before with a ladder!!

well, after almost 10 years, it's happened... for Fathers Day this year my awesome kids bought me a membership to a local RC Club airfield!! I'm pretty stoked and can't wait to get my membership packet (with a gate key) in the mail so I can go any time I choose, ooooh baby!!

I have had the pleasure of visiting the field to fly a few times over the last year as a guest of a work buddy (Marv H) and another good buddy who found me through RCG (Bob H) as well as a buddy from church (Rick R), not to mention I've popped out for few warbird fly-ins and have always been impressed with the facility and the people I've met out there and have wanted to know what its like to be a member of a club.

its a well groomed and outfitted flying field with a 300' x 40' asphalt runway with ample grass overruns, an asphalt set up area with tables, an enclosed shelter with wood stove, sanitary facilities, picnic tables, and a large area for tent camping or recreational vehicles. Electricity, water, and telephone (360-458-4963) are on site.

I had an "aaah ha!" moment recently

after looong period of consideration and debate, I've come to the realization that no matta how much a guy may want to, a guy can't fly everyday . I mean, I LOVE to fly... 40"+ parkflyers (foam) warbirds mostly, but I have been dabbling in some 3D lately, oh, and there's ultra-micro planes and a micro coaxial heli...anyways, can't get enough... so when it comes to RC, I love flyin' most, but truth be told, I basically like most things RC, it's all justa blast...heck, if I had access to a pond or lake I'd even have me a boat or hydro or something hahaha (my Super cub has a set of floats for it ready to go).... but between the annoying, random windy days and the week long stretches of full blown in-climate weather during the winter & spring that blows through for a full week at a time it's easy to go weeks, maybe a month+, without the opportunity to fly.

of course the weather is only part of the problem... there's those last minute work schedule changes that occasionally get in the way too, usually happens on the one beautiful day after weeks of crappy weather, go figure... yaaa, so I decided I needed something RC related to play with that didn't rely on having flyable weather but will get me outside from time to time during the off season (for flyin' that is)

sooo, after almost 3 years of and ooglin' like a kid over the pics and YouTube videos and then endless debating, hesitation, procrastination and contemplation...Continue Reading

5800 (rpms) X 10 (pitch) X .000947 = 54.92 mph



Just an example....lets say your rpms were 8500

Take your rpm reading and times it by the pitch (8500 X 6 = 51000), then take 51000 and times it by .000947 (51000 X .000947= 48.2 mph)

Pitch speed is calculated to 48mph

After testing the stock motor/prop combo......the stock pitch speed came in at 55 mph.

for those out there that need a tip on posting pics, here ya go!! if the pics are already on your computer it's easy peasy to upload them to RCGroups and of course when doing so it automatically creates/makes a clickable thumbnail for us... its as easy as 1-2-3-4-5-6 to do

ya do it one time and you'll see how easy it is to do and it'll take (maybe) 20 secs to do and when ya see how easy it is you will find yourself looking for new pics to post

1. click the "Quote" button on any post, or at the bottom of the web page where it shows the "Quick Reply" section, click the "Go Advanced" button...

2. then click the "Manage Attachments" button...

3. then click one of the "Choose File" buttons and then navigate to the location (on your computer) of the picture file you are wanting to post...

4. then click the "Upload" button...the picture file will begin uploading and you'll see a small progress bar... if it's a really small (in file size) pic this will happen pretty quickly and you may or may not not see the progress bar do that...

5. once it's uploaded you'll see a preview of it.... then look for and click the "Save" button that will be there...

6. close the "Manage Attachments" window and then click the "Submit Reply" button of your post...

you should now see your post with the respective pics you've uploaded...repeat as desired... keeping in mind we all LOVE to see pics of our beloved aircraft, so there's always a need out here for more pics!!

there are other ways to upload your pics like to a free image server/service out on the internet (I happen to use and then it will provide links to simply copy & paste into your post, really easy and convenient... and it'll look like these first set of 3 pics (the larger ones)...

the 3 little thumbnails of the same pics at the very bottom of this post are uploaded from my computer for comparison...

heres a few pics...

holds ParkZone 4 birds originally but after I built it I decided to add a 5th position on the top left end so that while at the airfield if a guy needed a bench or place to hold a 5th bird, it would do it...

once the rack is in the back of the Burb, if I recall, the 5th position will only allow for something small like the PZ P-51, the smallest of my fleet... and even then I'm not sure I'd stuff it so tightly whilst in the Burb, but it might work. My thinking behind the extra position was to be more of a rest, bench type deal when out of the car...

I figure 4 ParkZone birds and an FMS T-28 on the tail end and an FMS P-51 setting on the bench seat behind the driver is plenty

I have used bungies to run over/around the cowls to keep em from bouncing around if I'm on dirt roads, but on asphalt, no need...
