This is how I (hopefully) increase safety by splitting power supplies. Using the otherwise unused ESC BEC power for non-essential servos to preserve power for the RX and essential controls, eg should the retracts jam.

I just finished this today, an original design balsa profile for electric power. I designed this years ago for glow, and have built dozens of them. With the advancements of foam airplanes, I don't see these balsa profiles as being as useful as they were 20 years ago, but I got bored and wanted to build something, so here it is.

600 squares
44 oz AUW including 3S 2600 lipo.
Thrust 45 motor and speed control, made for the P.A. Katana 52
Savox servos
Falcon 14 by 7 carbon prop

It should fly like the others I've made, but since its loaded a little lighter ( 10.5 oz per sq ft) should have a bit more hang time

The C-3 design was derived from the Aeronca C-2. Introduced in 1931, it featured room for a passenger seated next to the pilot. Powered by a new 36-horsepower (27-kilowatt) Aeronca E-113 engine, the seating configuration made flight training much easier and many Aeronca owners often took to the skies with only five hours of instruction. Llargely because of the C-3's predictable flying characteristics. Both the C-2 and C-3 are often described as "powered gliders" because of their gliding ability and gentle landing speeds. It was almost impossible to make a hard landing with an Aeronca because the pilot could easily see his wheels approach the runway. This highly prefabricated kit belongs in the "super scale competition" models category. Once built, the airframe is extremely light and clean but still able to withstand the high loads and stresses associated with aerobatic flight. The manufacturer uses the latest construction techniques including Laser CNC cutting to achieve high strength and low weight. Each part and every detail are meticulously made.

recovered from the onslaught of calories over the last month I hope?

The Diatone / Mamba quad stacks have amassed a Great reputation over the last years. They have proven to be both affordable and good performers.. Don't get me wrong: even the best stacks Can fail.. I have at least 10 quads with Mamba stacks, and over the last year I have had 1 4-in-1 ESC fail after a few flights..

Wind was 3mph-5mph (5kmh-8kmh) again and I had some Trim work to do after Centering my Servos.
I had not know about Sub-Trim when I first setup this Micro Parkjet.
After Centering my Servos with Sub-Trim it was time to Trim it out again.
Now, it's all Trimmed out and flies nice and level at cruise speed and the Rolls are completely Axial ;-)
I have absolutely no Trim in the Transmitter at all, it's all Mechanical Trim ;-)

The skill level needed for this Parkjet is Intermediate to Advanced.
Intermediate setup is a 2S Power System with 10 points more Dual-Rate than on a 3S Setup.
Advanced setup is a 3S Power System.
It's very docile on a 2S Power System, Fast & Aerobatic with a 3S Power System.

This is an adapter to connect an analog diversity module to the DJI Digital FPV goggles outside by cable. Clean solution, but you should install the current DJI update to at least v01.00.02.00 so you get very low latent times up to 20ms. So you don't need any other analog FPV glasses anymore !!
A video module is simply plugged in here and you can fly analog tiny whoops, toothpicks.

So I remember around 1974-1980"s in some R/c magazine about a high wing kit that somebody converted to a mechanism to release systematically fake bombs under the wings. Did I dream this article? I've looked in my magazines without success. Does anyone remember this short article?

Hi all:
This obviously is my first blog post... where to start.
I'm retired living in the Philippines as an Expat. A great place to be. We have to date no restrictions on R/C activities except drones are Geo fenced from Airports. (very few airports however) There are very few bonafide R/C flying fields, but they do exist, just not near me. So after 50 years or so in R/C living in the U.S. I'm looking at appropriate ways to re-enter the hobby on a reduced scale. My thoughts are trying either electric sailplanes and small electric foamies. Been looking at a lot of FMS stuff, it's cheap and fairly well made it seems. Their 3 meter Fox looks pretty awesome for a big foamie. But to start I'm thinking a Volantex 2.4 meter electric sailplane, and or an FMS cub or Beaver 2 meter.

My past experience includes 40% aerobatic planes and 30% and 40% sailplanes. There is no way to accommodate this size plane here let alone find a place to fly, so KISS will be my motto at this point. BTW we do have a lot of potential slope sites here to explore for soaring.

Oh boy the weather pattern continues
Same as last week steady 20 or so with +30 mph gusts...And started out with some sunshine before the snow squalls moved

I brought out the 2m Gerry and maidened a 56 inch " Sally" from the GEMS boys in Cleveland - http://www.slopeslayer.com/wordpress/?page_id=930
As it turned out I only flew the Sally, put in a hour flight and had a Blast
What a great flying ship !
Mine comes in at 24 oz with a removable wing and rudder,there is plenty of room for ballast if desired

Hi

About 10 years ago, I started my own project - "LiPo Professor" measures internal resistance of LiPo cell(s) accurately in micro-ohm resolution.

This idea is based on a expensive/industrial measurement method using AC current.
Appling weak (~mA) 1kHz (in my memory) AC current through a capasitor to LiPo cell(s), and measure AC voltage simultaneously. Then we can get the internal resistance of cell(s) easily to calculate R=Voltage.AC/Current.AC. Then display it on a LCD.
Cells have some static capacitance, so phase detection/correction is required.

This circuit generates sin wave instead of dirty square wave using internal DAC of MCU for accracy. And caliculation method is "coherent detection" whitch have high sensitivity and acclacy. It need computation power slightly, so I used DSPIC MCU. (It's outdated IMO, I'll choose STM32F3 if it is now on).

Eventually I planned this product to commercial. But terrible earthquake in 2011/03/11 was changed everything. I eleminated this project and went into mourning.

Now I open all of this project.
