Big party with building wings
It took me some time to do that, but mostly because I was busy with other stuff. One half of wings it took me two days spending in workshop, since I had to wait wood glue.
All parts fitted perfectly together so no sanding needed. all I had to do was to extend spars for about 50mm, since spars came only 1000mm long.

Tail finished, fuselage almost. Still need to glue wing support (will after I finish wings).
So far all weights 929g, including servos, FPV camera with pan/tilt mechanism, RVOSD V5.1, Multiplex RX 16 pro receiver and motor with propeller.

Just started new project. It's bigger version of Baby BEE model, with modifications. Fuselage is made from light plywood and two spruce spars. Tail is from balsa, wings mostly from light plywood and balsa leading, trailing spars, wingtips and stripes on ribs. Wingspan is 2180mm.
So far most of fuselage and tail are finished.

Working on idea using brushless motors and controller for controlling FPV 3D camera. Since brushless gimbals are much smoother than servo driven gimbals and response is more accurate when we talk about centering. At firs I was thinking to use servos, but more and more I'm thinking to go with gimbal motors. Will it work in follow mode?

It took me 4 years to convert my headplay goggles in to this mod. So far I had battery mod on them but until last weekend I flew my FPV plane and 250 racer with original headplay package. I love my headplay goggles, but they make me angry when flying on sunny days. I was looking for some time for cheap ski glasses, and until Monday I had no luck. Finally they came at local store for 9,99€. I had no choice, it was time to do this dirty job...

Firs I sanded top of goggles where they were attached to metal holder and protected goggles with tape. I removed glass from ski glasses and tape it.
Then it was time for dirty yob...
I laid down 2 layer texalium fabric on googles and one 250g layer of carbon fibers and texalium fabric on ski glass. After 24 hours time curing epoxy resign it was time to get laminate apart from models. It took me some time, since I did not want to break goggles. Then I sanded moulded CFK/Texalium glass to right shape and fit it to frame. After that I trimmed and sanded goggle holder. I marked outline and cutted hole in glass little smaller. I glued pieces with CA glue and add some CFK roving to edges. When I was happy with results, I added another layer of texalium and 25g glass fabrics to get smoother finish.

Today I trimmed fabrics and assembled everything together.

For housing I used external disk drive unit that died few years ago and modify it. For voltage monitor I used simple LED display with integrated PCB that I found on ebay for 2-3$. Since no sound about motor and Naze 32 controller, I decided to do some work on electronics. All FPV gear is soldered together, also added home made LC filter and finished all connections. At the moment model weights 321g with 3S 1000mAh 35C lipo.

Just started buiding my new FPV racer. Frame is designed and made by my friend (I was to lazy to draw my own).
Still waiting Naze 32, DYS 1806 2300KV motors and gemfan 5x3 props.

Since my old radio Multiplex EVO 12 just died few days ago, I`m thinking of buying new one...
Now here is big question what to buy? Since I was comfortable with 12 channel radio I do not want to go on less than that. So I`m thinking to buy new radio from Multiplex, that come out not long ago. I use Multiplex radios since 1999, so I will stay on them.

At the moment my eyes are on Multipelx Royal SX 16, but big issue for me is to decide what color should be, so I need help.

Action comes in yellow color. It looks different than most of transmitters on market.
Elegance comes in black color (more dark gray). It looks elegant, but boring and not so recognizable as old Royal EVO or PRO were in silver color.

Someone asked me how I manage to do such nice holes in the ribs. The trick is very simple, of course, with the right tools.

Tool I used is a piece of plywood or other material appropriate thickness. I made ​​several of these devices in various thickness plates.

You need sandpaper between 100 and 150 grid. Best is the one with fabric on back side. You also need some double-sided tape.

Make sure that sandpaper is few mm wider than the length of the three sides viewed from the top of the tool. (see picture)

First glue sandpaper to one side and gently bend and then set it to the other side and push it all to clog together nicely.


Tool is useful for grinding round holes, transitions between straight and curved lines openings ... Depending on the pressure which we perform to the piece, changes a profile of the grinding tip of tool. At the beginning perhaps not so much because the sandpaper is more stiff, but once everything gets soft, it works much better.

I will show you how to transfer pieces from plans to material. It is used for all kind of woods and ply woods.

It is very simple, all you need are pieces of paper printed on a laser printer , some cotton wool and acetone.

The best is to arrange parts to maximize material and that all the pieces are made of the same material are grouped together, so that accidentally you don’t cut the ribs from plywood that should be made of balsa wood.

Printed side of the paper you have to turn to the material and place it. Secure paper with a tape, that later will not move. Then take a cotton ball, and impregnate it with acetone, and soak it. Rub over the paper only to wet paper and paint. If the paper is too soaked, the lines will be blurred, but if too little, you will see bad impression on the material.

If everything is nicely done, on the material will remain a beautiful mirrored footprint.

This is my first blog entry. At first let me tell you few things about me. My name is Kristjan and I come from small town Šentjernej in Slovenia. I`m 34 years old and have been creating models since I was 9 years old. At age 16 I got my first RC set and since then I flew rc gliders and electric planes. Last four years I was more in to multicopters, but my passion for planes never died.

Now let`s color nylon parts.
Process is very simple, all you need is:

Fabric Dye color (any color )
White Vinegar
A Small pot
A small strainer (optional but highly recommended, or it will take you some time to take them out from pot)

Toss your vinegar and fabric dye color in the pot, heat it to a low boil and mix it time to time, so you get mixture without soil on bottom. Then drop your nylon parts in the strainer and dye them till they're not desired color.

If you pull them out too early, they will turn out very pale. Heavier and thicker nylon requires more time.

After 5-10 minutes or so, parts are ready to take out and washed under water till you get clean uncolored water. Then just dry parts using paper towel or hair dryer.

Best way is to do this somewhere outside, since boiling vinegar creates nasty smell and it my bother your girlfriend or wife....
