We removed the last of our non-fixed assets from the field we've leased since 2005 last Saturday. I had not intended to go back but it was a duty. The biggest thing we had to remove was the tractor shed. It was a modular construction so it wasn't that difficult but it did require some exertion. We also removed all San Antonio Prop Buster signs and painted over those we could not remove. While we technically still lease the field until the end of August, it's clear we are no longer in control, so we just wanted to disassociate our name from any potential issues.

Some people brought planes to fly but not me. I flew there once after the notification but I didn't like it very much. I've already joined two other local clubs to have a place to fly, both with better facilities. I didn't join them before because I'm a loyal SAPB member since '84, so I flew there. It was no problem for me but I knew people who stayed away from it because they felt it was too hazardous to their aircraft. We sort of got this field from a (then) generous offer from a local flyer, that sort of turned into a trap, when we lost both of our previous fields. I believe we are going to take a much more judicious approach to finding another field.

Review Update - Tattu R-Line 4S 1050mah 95C LIPO

Here is a link to the Video:

I wanted to do an update of the initial review of these LIPOs since one of them was bad.
I want to let you know, not only when a company does something bad, but also when they do something good.
After Gens/Tattu reviewed the video I made showing the bad cell in one of the LIPOs they requested I fill out an RMA Form online.
I filled out the online RMA Form which was approved the same day and I also received a tracking number on the replacement battery shipment the same day ;-)
Now that's fast customer service!
So Gens/Tattu stood behind their product and provided outstanding customer support.
I will not hesitate to order from them again.
I thought you should know how things went on getting a replacement battery.

Here is a link to this LIPO:

FrSky Taranis X-Lite Pro 2.4GHz 24CH Radio Transmitter Longer Telemetry Range for RC Drone FPV Racing Multi Rotor

With the growing acclaim of the new compact X-Lite form factor, FrSky is introducing this upgraded version. The Pro and S versions combine all the benefits of the preceding design with the features of our full-sized radios, along with the newly developed ACCESS (Advanced Communication Control, Elevated Spread Spectrum) protocol.

New for the PRO version is a high-quality, all-metal CNC hall sensor gimbal. Checking the airwaves for RF noise is now possible with the new power meter and spectrum analysis function added to the OpenTX firmware. Pro version feature the addition of an improved wireless trainer function which makes them compatible with the FrSky Free Link App. The best thing about the Pro model is that pilots can now expect even lower latency and enhanced performance due to our new ACCESS transmission protocol. With the integrated 6-axis sensor unit, pilots can use the radio as a motion-sensing controller to control the inputs of a model during flight or use it to point a camera in the desired direction. Like all of our transmitters, all of the beloved features from previous Taranis are included such as full haptic feedback and voice alerts, as well as telemetry and 24 channels and an additional 2 momentary buttons are installed.

So many times I have been restricted to sitting in front, at a fixed location , looking into a FPV screen to do my flying , especially take off and landings.
Also there are times when the model has unknowingly flown behind a obstical and signal and video is lost.
So why not have the FPV screen attached to you and easily have line of sight available to you within a second or two.
Also in some flying sites it is not practical to set up a FPV ground station easily.
The best attribute is having line of sight and the fpv screen available in the blink of an eye and it being portable.
Unlike fpv goggles, you have the best of both views of your model without taking off goggles and trying to find where your model id in the sky.

Until recently, a NAN Omega languished on my bench, partially completed. Truth be told, it had migrated off the bench into storage for many moons, a victim of my distraction by other projects and commitments.

Happily, things have changed. The Omega has been completed and flown. It was my first all-composite model. I can share a few pictures, impressions, and a lesson learned the hard way.

Tonight is the beginning. I'll jot down these few thoughts and add some pictures. In the coming days, I'll come back to round out the report. Stay tuned....Continue Reading
