Lipo Voltage Chart ground school

Many times folks ask what a certain LiPo voltage means in terms of "gas" in the tank. Here is a pdf chart we use at our club. Keep a copy on your smart phone or pad or wallet. All measurements are no-load with a 1s+ volt meter. Measure your voltage before & after every charge and flight.

LiPo cells should not be discharged to below 3.0v each under load. Soft Cut-Off manages the motor power and gives you a chance to land softly. Hard Cut-Off eliminates all power and a crash may be imminent. Each model is different, but typical Soft Cut-Off is 3.2v to 3.0v under load. Hard Cut-Off is typically at 3.0v under load. Check your ESC / model's manual.

Please note: For ‘deep discharge’ batteries like the Hyperion 550mah, the chart has to be adjusted by 20 percentage points when reading how much fuel is left. As an example, the mentioned battery will read 3.75v or 20% when the recharge will be close to 100% of practical capacity (80% of rated). A 3.7v reading will recharge more than 440mah which means it was discharged too far for long battery life.
